I was given an early ebook in exchange for an honest review. This novella is extremely good. It drew me in instantly and kept me page turning to the end.. The man you are destined to spend the rest of your life with might indeed be the same childhood friend you and your sisters (the four calling birds) have already considered you best friends for years. This was not only an historical fiction that excellently fills the niche but also contains romance. It is the type of fun escapism I have been needing. If you enjoy a historical fiction/romance, this was a delightful novella. Read for yourself when it is published 02 Dec 3022. I would highly recommend.

She has loved him as her best friend till it became more and she didn’t realize it. But when she finally did, it was like she had come home. Nice, heartwarming lovely romance for the holidays!
I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.
This is definitely the best entry in this series thus far. Lucy is an easy protagonist to like and seems the most interesting of her sisters. I thought there was slightly too much emphasis on Esther’s relationship and trying to draw information out of her. I enjoyed the family dynamic and the younger sister Sophia. There were a few historically improbable expressions they used that are obviously too modern to have been said in this time period. As for the sexual dynamics, I gave in to logical suspension of disbelief because several things never would have occurred at that time. Overall, I’d give it 4 out of 5 stars and hope to read the book featuring Sophia soon.
I have completely fallen in love with the Fitzroy family, and Ive been looking especially forward to Lucy and Percy's story. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. It was such a delight to watch Lucy internally wrestle with her feelings for Percy and gradually come to understand them for what they were. It was also a joy getting to see the fallout from the abrupt end of Esther's story in Five Gold Rings. This was a delightful Christmas romance.
I enjoyed this bright, engaging friends to lovers romance. Lucy and Percy are firm childhood friends and the underlying desire and awakening of feelings was well written. Love is definitely calling for Lucy and Percy. They quickly make it to the bedchamber and their happy ending.
Such a lovely romance and I liked the characters and Christmas setting. This one is a friends to lovers themed story about Percy and Lucy. Lucy was surprised to realize that her friendship with Percy has gradually evolved into somethin more, into love. She did not realize that he would like to deepen their relationship but is afraid she does not return his feelings. I found that interesting and the slow burn romance that ensued was nice to read.
This was a really good historical romance novella for Christmas. It's set around the holidays and stars Lucy and Percy, who've been friends forever, so much so that they've developped a special way of calling each other. Lucy's large family considers Percy one of their own and they have tons of fun together - at the opera, watching fireworks, going through their Christmas to-do. But something is different this year, and Lucy and Percy fall into each other's arms in the sweetest, sexiest way possible. This was excellent, I really enjoyed it. There are so many books in the series, I'm thinking of picking up one every week or so!
Thank you so much to the publisher and NetGalley for this review copy.
Lucy and Percy have been best friends since childhood. When Lucy’s sisters start falling in love and getting engaged and married, she realizes she can not picture a day without Percy. Percy has been waiting for Lucy to finally see him as more than a good friend. I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
A holiday delight! Friends-to-lovers is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved Lucy and Percy together. Secret signals, sisterly squabbles, and a healthy dash of pining made this a really fun and emotional read. It was nice to check back in with the rest of the Fitzroys, too. Guess I'll just have to go ahead and read the other ten books in the series!
