Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!
I didn't find out until after reading this whole book that this one is the 9th in a series, which makes a lottt more sense looking back. It didn't really affect my understanding of the book though, because all the information they needed you to know they told you, which was good.
As for the characters, well. I liked Paige and Serena, and Addie was ok (albeit a little annoying), and Simon/Laurel suck and I hate them :). I have to say that Addie dodged a bullet, because if Laurel and Mason being in town was all it took to basically make him cheat on her, it's better to end the relationship sooner rather than later. Anyways, I also liked everyone at the nursing home, and I think it was funny to see the women still gossiping, etc about things that happened like 20 years before.
My biggest critique is that this just doesn't really flow well. The writing is just not amazing. The whole book was just sort of "she said this, then this happened, next this happened". It makes for kind of a boring book, and there were a lot of things that just felt out of place to say, like someone had just added them as an afterthought sprinkled throughout the book.
Dedication to Murder, the ninth book in Beyond the Bookstore Mysteries by Lauren Elliott, truly has caused me such heartfelt angst. As the series progressed, Addie’s indomitable spirit, her fortitude in the face of life’s challenges, not to mention her strong sense of justice, created quite an emotional bond that has grown exponentially throughout the series. Such a strong, relatable, and believable female character demonstrates what a tremendous gift Ms. Elliott has…a fictional character has rarely touches me so deeply.
As Addie peels back the layers and unlocks the pieces of a very personal and long-ago puzzle, the reader is taken on a riveting ride with unforeseen twists and turns leading to a unique and unexpected ending.
Though the series has taken an unexpected turn and nearly broken my heart, it is still one that I am looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for the future for Addie and the rest of the residents of Greyborne Harbor.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. My honest review is being submitted voluntarily
Addie is the owner of a bookstore Beyond the Page she is getting married to Simon the doctor. As they are about to say "I do." Some one runs in and stops the wedding. Turns out Simon is still married to Laurel. The lawyer never submitted the annulment paperwork. Also it turns out they have a son. Addie is upset and goes home. Later at a tea party where everyone meets the son Mason. Laurels Aunt Valerie dies from a presumed heart attack. Laurel is sad and needs Simon. Addie decides to clean the attic and happens upon a secret room with a wedding dress inside. Addie decides to uncover the mystery of the wedding dress.
This mystery was so good. I could not put it down. While I was a tad confused at the many characters. I really enjoyed the solving of the cold case. I'm totally #teamaddie , Simon is a nitwit.
Dedication to murder starts with Addie’s wedding to Simon, but an unexpected turn of events delays the wedding. Since Addie can’t go on her honeymoon, she starts to clean her attic and finds a mystery to solve. Soon also a suspicious death occurs, so Addie has two mysteries: what happened to her family 70 years ago, and was there a murder at a tea party?
I’ve enjoyed The Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series especially because it manages to renew itself. Even though this the ninth installment in the series, the books don’t repeat themselves. In this book I especially enjoyed the chance to find out more about Addie’s great aunt Anita.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a chance to review this book.
Lauren Elliot has penned a captivating cozy mystery that is not only one but two perplexing murder cases. One is a cold case murder committed 70 years ago and one is a current mystery . Addie Greyborne has a life changing experience when she discovers a secret room in her attic. She also faces other changes in her life that she finds hard to deal with. Will Addie be able to put the pieces of these puzzling murders together and solve both of these cases before it’s too late?
This was an emotional cozy mystery that left me sad and later upset with a few of the characters. I’m not saying here that I didn’t like the book because I think it was the best one in this series. This was in a way a time split novel and you will understand when you read the book why I say this. The way the story ends leaves readers waiting to see how Addie picks up the broken pieces of her life and boldly steps forward into the future. Addie has grown on me over the years and I can’t wait for the next book. The Author’s writing style makes it hard to stop reading once the book is started. Five Stars!
I recommend this book to readers of Cozy Mystery and fans of Lauren Elliott. This is book nine of the Beyond the Pages Bookstore series . I recommend that readers start at book one because characters are carried over from each book. Dedication to Murder is scheduled to be released on 4/25/23.
I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed here in this review are my own.

What an interesting story with some unexpected surprises. I love how Addie just kept digging even though some of her findings were quite unexpected. Who wouldn’t want Paige and Serena as their friends? And of course, Pippi, who is so special. I can’t wait to go back to Greyborne Harbor and see what is happening with these wonderful folks. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

I have read several others in the series, so I'm not a good source to tell if it can work as a stand-alone, but I think it can. It's a series I enjoy and appreciate.
This one begins with a wedding, but the wedding is stopped by the groom's not-so-ex-wife (not a nasty person but the paperwork was never finalized sixteen years ago). While keeping busy with investigating her attic, Addie finds some surprises. The characters are engaging and all of the sleuthing is inspired. Great cozy!
I requested and received a free e-book copy from Kensington Books/Kensington Cozies via NetGalley. Thank you.
In my opinion this is the best of Lauren Elliott's Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series because it explained so much. Addie seems to have finally grown up and more kind in her interactions. I don't want to issue spoilers but I for one am happy with Addie's wedding day drama. The book was gripping from start to finish, and there is so much more possible in the future. I have great hopes as to how I hope it will go and can't wait to find out. It can't be soon enough for me.

Dedication To Murder is the ninth book in the Beyond The Page series and it was one of my favorites so far. I really love Addie and most of the Greyborne Harbor town characters. I don’t want to spoil anything but I’m happy with the way the series is heading after being disappointed by the last 2 books. Of course, this is a cozy mystery so there are murders to be solved, but to me that’s secondary to the plot of the main characters lives. It’s all fun to read and I look forward to more!
I received an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
From the beginning of the series, Addie has been a force with which to be reckoned, from the curiosity that feeds her investigations to the highs and lows of her personal life. She pulls me in so that I feel what she feels, and because she is sometimes too strong for her own good, I may feel what she doesn't allow herself to feel. So, to say this book left me in utter turmoil, from the beginning to end, is no exaggeration. Everything Addie thought she was, thought she knew, is taken, twisted, and turned upside down. My heart squeezed with every blow, but I couldn't put it down. Sometimes I wanted to shake her. Sometimes I wanted to shake others. Sometimes I wanted to yell, "Stop!" or otherwise advise her on how to mitigate the damage being done. Alas, that is not my job as the reader; though it gave me some insight into Addie's feelings that she was not in control of her own life. Thankfully, allowing an escape from the angst and feeling of powerlessness, the mysteries still commanded attention and demanded resolution. In that, at least Addie prevailed.
I now must wait to see what Lauren Elliott resurrects from the ashes in Addie's next chapter because "there is always hope for a better tomorrow."
PSA: Grab a box of tissues, and remove all sharp objects and breakable items before you begin reading.
Wow! Dedication to Murder is awesome and very hard to put down! Addie Greyborne owns Beyond the Page Bookstore, and is marrying Simon, the love of her life. The book starts with Addie getting ready for the big day. Something happens and there is a problem at the wedding. On top of that, Addie finds some valuable childrens books and some family items in a hidden room which ends in some major revelations. A popular lady in town ends up dead. There is a lot going on and it is all very exciting! I don't want to ruin the story. I have read and loved all of the books in this series and Addie has some decisions to make. Don't miss this one! It is going to feel like a long time until the next book! Very enjoyable! #DedicationToMurder #NetGalley
It is always a good idea to start a book with a bang and this one does that in spades. No spoilers but if you follow this series you are in for a big shock.
Addie spends most of this book researching her own history with some intriguing results. Simon is busy with big issues of his own. There is a lot of drama and quite a few tears - from the characters but also the reader if you are anything like me!
There is a very neat ending which has great promise for the next book. I look forward to it.
I've recently become a fan of Lauren Elliott's
Beyond the Page bookstore mystery series, after reading a few entries in the series. So, when I heard about this book, I just had to read it.
Drama, romance, two new mysteries to solve, and support makes this book a must read! I really recommend readers to read this book. Addie (protagonist) goes through a lot in this book. I loved the support she receives through the community and her best friend Serena.
This book can be read as a standalone, but I also recommend checking out the other entries in this series.
My thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGallery for a digital copy of this book. I'm looking forward to more of Lauren Elliott's works!
As the 9th book in the series, I would have hoped that Addie would have it together by now. Maybe I'm just tired of the character herself? The mystery part saves the book. The whole "Simon/marriage/oh wait! Plot twist! Now back to Marc? Or Tony?" enough already.
On the flip side, well written? Yes. Enjoyable minus being annoyed with the entire Simon situation? Yes. I'd say a series that should be read in order to fully know who was who, as well as what is going on (or not going on)
Thanks to Ms Elliott, NetGalley & Kensington Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
Wow, I didn't see this coming. I loved that the book started with Addie, already dressed in her wedding gown, stopping at the bookstore to find dog Pippa's favorite stuffed bear, Baxter. It gave a sweet, light feel to the story, one that quickly changed however. Never mind that Simon, the groom-to-be, made her feel like all was right with the world, not to mention believe in Camelot and fairy tales, he's.....already married? And, there's more.
I definitely won't spoil the plot for you but will say that author Lauren Elliott just keeps getting better and better, her stories stronger and stronger, with layers of content and character. Check out her use of rain/raindrops to help convey the mood post wedding fiasco. Also, although bad me, I didn't jot it down at the time, her line comparing Addie's brain fog and inability to shake off the deep emotions dredged up by the wedding failure to dust mites floating in the air as Martha and she set out to clean out her attic as a diversion and, thus, discovers another mystery, stuck with me. Actually, there is more than one mystery to this story, one very old, threads that Elliott skillfully weaves into the plot to bring them all to a satisfactory conclusion at the end.
Actually, satisfactory might be the wrong term as Addie, despite having regained her equilibrium at the end, is still searching for solid ground to move forward. We're happy for her but curious about what will happen, just as her friends are. And, just as at the beginning, while preoccupied with a jumble of feelings, she worries about dog Pippa's reaction to some of her decisions, too.
Bottom line, this book (and the entire series) is a winner. Thanks #NetGalley and #KensingtonBooks - #KensingtonCozies for the wedding invite. I'm already pondering what the future will bring for Addie.
This was such a good book! Not only has the local police chief asked her to help in his investigation of a murder,
Addie finds an old wedding dress stashed in a hidden closet in her home. The dress has obviously never been worn. She feels she must find out who the dress belonged to and why there wasn’t a wedding. She finds her aunt’s diaries that lead to her finding out her family isn’t exactly what she was led to believe. The author did an extraordinary job of describing Addie’s thoughts and feelings, not only dealing with this new familial information as well as who killed her grandfather, but also battling the emotions of her own wedding put on hold by information her fiancé withheld. I can’t recommend this cozy mystery enough. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Each installment in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries gets better and better. Author Lauren Elliott has outdone herself with this book giving us not one, but two interesting mysteries in one! Addie Greybourne's life is coming together beautifully finally as she is at her much anticipated wedding day to the charming Simon. She couldn't be happier as they stand before all their friends to exchange their vows. But, wait ... is that a monkey with a wrench to throw off their happy day? Read this terrific book to find out if they'll get their happily ever after, who ends up the victim of another Greybourne Harbor murder, why Addie's great aunt really left her the huge home filled with books, hidden memories, and another murder (this time from 70 years ago!) to solve. Nothing is what it seems and things don't always turn out as you might expect. I guarantee you'll enjoy this story and the two murder mysteries to solve. I can hardly wait to see what happens with Addie, Simon, Serena, Mark, Catherine, Paige and everyone else in Greybourne Harbor.
*I was provided an advanced reader copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Addie's wedding day is nearly perfect - until the local vet stops the wedding. This is just the first of the life changing events she experiences in this pages all while solving 2 murders. What a great read. I cannot wait to see where life takes her next.
Addie and Simon’s long awaited wedding day is halted at the alter, by his first wife who says their marriage was never annulled. Addie is gutted never knowing Simon was married before. He vows to quickly sign the annulment papers so they can get on with their life together when up pop other serious complications.
A fun series but I’m so tired of Addie loving this guy, then that guy, then being on the fence which man she wants. It seemed a foregone conclusion something would stop their wedding and it’s tiring.
The mystery in the book is quite interesting and saves the novel.
Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of DEDICATION TO MURDER (Book 9 of the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries) by Lauren Elliott, in exchange for an honest review. Addie Greyborne is marrying her love, Dr. Simon Emerson. However, the nuptials are interrupted in true Jane Eyre fashion. Dr. Emerson is already married! Dealing with the stress leads Addie to clearing out the attic. The secrets in the attic lead to revelations about Addie's past.
I really like this book and enjoy the series. I recommend this book to fans of the series and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, bookstores, and secrets from the past.
