This was a great read and was pretty well executed. I really liked the character development of the main characters and I thought their stories came through pretty well. I kept reading for the plot, but unfortunately, the editor of this novel didn't help the author do it justice when it came to the passage of time and various transitions. Levi's involvement was also very confusing which made it hard to keep up with what was happening at times, but made sense later on (sorry, don't want to give away the plot here). This book has a TON of potential though. I wasn't a huge fan of the clichรฉ third act breakup (though it also made sense later)

Overall, this author has a TON of potential and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. The plotline of this novel was original (and refreshing after reading so many books I didn't enjoy this year). Their ideas are *chef's kiss*, but their execution needs some polishing and editing before the next book is published. I see this author/teacher going places in the future with the right team behind them!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Hayley and Jace. They have known each all their lives, she is best friends with his sister. She is attending the same university that he is. This story is about their romance, when it is meet with obstacles. They work it out and fall in love.

I found this book slightly slow and hard to get into. I wasnโ€™t liking Hayley too much from the start itself and didnโ€™t get far before calling it quits. It also seemed very mainstream young adult/new adult romance and was something Iโ€™d read before.

Sarah Douglas is a great romance writer. I love a good beat friends to lover trope and this did not disappoint. Super cute back story with a good chemistry couple at the center. Solid 4 stars in my book. Not my first or last Sarah Douglas novel.

Itโ€™s a great first novel. My only issue is that the timeline went by way to quickly.
The story itself was great and the character development was good.
I liked how the book stayed the course of focusing on grief and didnโ€™t just keep a small plot point.

2 โญ๏ธ โ€” This book reminded me of Meet me In The Middle which I read last year, I suppose. The storyline is quite similar and if it was inspired by that book, no wonder why it was written like that. The difference is it is a story about two best friends not three like the other book was. Even though this was a romance book, I just do not get the attachment on where the romance or feeling of attachment on any of the characters

The main story started with those two best friends who have feelings towards each other but keep it silent throughout the years of their friendship. Too many time skip in this part and even if you guys skimmed it, it doesnโ€™t make any difference as well.

The Characters in this book are totally out of place especially Jace, the Male MC. It feels like he cannot hold his own ground and has no idea what he wants in his life but confused the other participant in his life. If the author intend or aimed that his character is like that, she did a great job at it. But, I donโ€™t think that was the case tho. Because, one moment, the author makes Jace as a loving guy but then a few pages later, she makes Jace as annoying as fuck as a male lead. Then, the toxic trait between Hayley and Jace has a way out of my league. I understood that this is Wattpad book publication ish but I donโ€™t think this is going to be this rubbish tbh.

The Storyline is also quite rubbish, if this main focus on griefing, it doesnโ€™t deliver it own style well. Then, there was a point when the author would like to add some critical thinking to the plot because of the mystery on it. Well, it was total nonsense, especially about Aaron and Jace, they were fighting and strangling each other but hell, Jace doesnโ€™t even recognize Aaron? what kind of world they are living? Then, there is the police in here is a laughing matter, it was like they couldnโ€™t even do their job well. I know some police couldnโ€™t be that good but some of them are! Meanwhile, in here they are a laughing stock instead. However, in some part, they did a shocking part about the assigned officer for Hayley.

The Characteristic, nope not even any significant development on each part.

Laughing question: Is the creepy monster that prof or it was Aaron???

Tbh, I do not find any specific issues for this book but maybe it was supposed to be focusing on the grieving but I do not get those at all. I just get a glimpse of it but the main thing is get the several toxic traits between our dearest main character which goes round and round. Overall, I dislike this book and was disappointed because in the first place, I was happy because this book is focusing on the best-friend-to-lover but it was more like toxic-friendship-with-benefit-to-something-more-but-not-quite-can-be-called-as-lovers thing. LMAO.

Some Improvement are needed:
โžŠPlease focused only on one main story which can be written well, is it romance? grievances? Young Adult? or some Mystery-thriller?
โž‹Jace forgot to lock his car but Hayley can get into his car easily and it can be locked inside while she is there without the keys? OK, I was dumb with automotive and not a ner-tech but I donโ€™t think it was possible somehow. I am lost.
โžŒThe characteristics of the main character need to be more specific and written in more detail but not too much which makes the reader bored.
โžThe font on the message r typing conversation needs to be different from the other font of the storyline. If you read the e-book version, it would make the reader more confused!
โžŽPlease do make a mind map for the main suspect and the dots so the story is connected!
โžThe Foundatiom on the losing part is nonsense. It might be wanted to deliver this is how the grieving families look like but Hayleyโ€™s familyโ€™s griefing is out of place and seems odd as well as the storyline did not match up to one another from the previous chapter
โžAaron doesnโ€™t have any strong argument in these last few chapters. He needs a strong background of why he did what he did in the first place. Is this how grieving and losing someone took a toll and waking the demon on certain someone would be? โ€” whereโ€™s the strong argument on this part?????

An emotional and angsty first novel by Sarah Douglas that will keep you invested until the very end.

Maybe One Day was an emotional read. I felt my heart in my throat several times throughout the book. I kept rooting for Hayley to find some happiness. I hated all the back-and-forth she went through with Jace. Not to mention the family tragedy. It hurt my heart, but that makes for the best books.

I wish we got to see Jace and Hayley happy together. I felt like every moment they had was followed up by regret. guilt, or being scared. Yes, they obviously liked each other, but we didn't get very many happy falling-in-love moments.

I also struggled a little with the time jumps. I had to double-check to see if I was in the past or the present.

Overall I enjoyed this book a lot. Despite the emotional rollercoaster, it was an easy book to read, and I managed to do so in one sitting. I didn't want to put it down.

I had no idea what to expect, but wow it was pretty good. The beginning of this book, I felt quite slow to me, and at first, it was a little hard to get into. However, Iโ€™d say about 20% of the way in things started to ramped up a bit. The romance aspect of this book definitely fell a little short for me however, I loved the incorporation of grief into this book. I thought the author did a really great job at expressing it throughout the entire book. The constant break ups in this book did give me whiplash, but other than that, I really enjoyed the story and the authors writing style. I would definitely read another book from this author.

Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, W by Wattpad Books and Netgalley for this arc. I enjoyed the bad and good. It was unique and somwthing I really enjoyed with pro and contra about. Maybe only the pov was not really well done but nevermind so much.

Saw the promo for this book on Instagram and I was excited when I was approved for the arc.
It was promising at first. But later it got a little confusing.

My main problem was that I couldn't felt the spark and the chemistry between them. While I'm excited for this book but it was a letdown. It was an okay read for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Wattpad for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

**ARC PROVIDED BY NETGALLEY**
I saw a promo for this on Instagram, saw it was brothers best friend and knew u had to request it.

Ngl, it hit me right in the feels, I have little words to express how much I loved it. It was beautifully written and Iโ€™ll sure as hell will be purchasing it ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿฝ

Haley and Jaceโ€™s journey was an absolute blast to read about. The ups and downs and the development was something I thoroughly enjoyed. And I must admit I cried a little bit a couple of times. Nonetheless, it was so very enjoyable.

Poignant novel.
Hayley and Jace are like two magnets, irrevocably attracted to each other but apart.
Their combined history makes being together complicated and only when Hayley threatened do they decide love is with the risk.
I thought Hayley was immature for most of the book. I understand Jaceโ€™s hesitancy but he almost waited too long.
Itโ€™s a decent read about complicated romance.

I loved it on Wattpad so when I found out it was being published I jumped at it. Itโ€™s a young adult/ new adult, friends to lovers, brothers best friend romance. I couldnโ€™t put it down and loved the connection between these two. The continuous push and pull had me pulling my hair but once they got together it was a beautiful epic moment. There are a few twists you donโ€™t see coming but overall itโ€™s a sweet read that you need to read and celebrate a new romance author.

What I Didnโ€™t Like:
-Content Warning: accident, death, attempted sexual assault, stalking, sexual situations
-I wasnโ€™t sure why we had 1 random chapter from Jace only to have the rest from Haley. Iโ€™d say either do dual POV or donโ€™t. Plus, that opening chapter (which happens to be Jace) is really jarring. Youโ€™re dropped into a scene where you instantly feel like you donโ€™t know whatโ€™s going on. Itโ€™s uncomfortable. I couldโ€™ve done without this chapter altogether.
-Lots of formatting, typographical, and grammatical errors in my copy. Of course, this is an ARC and we can assume most (or all) of those will be fixed so it wonโ€™t affect my rating.
-Knight in shining armor trope. Also known as the damsel in distress. Itโ€™s not my favorite. The main character even calls it out but still it happens.
-The back and forth between these two was a bit much to my taste. I got annoyed at some point.

What I Did Like:
+Good descriptions. Between character descriptions and descriptions of scenes and action, this one is easy to picture.
+Friends to lovers. Always a trope I like. The friendship between these two is never really in question. You believe that right from the start. That makes the romance cute and believable.
+I appreciate the changes in expectation. This one is really more about people dealing with grief in different ways than I expected and I like that.

Who Should Read This One:
-New adult readers who want a spicier romance than they can get on the young adult shelves but like the friends to lovers trope (beware the content warnings, friends).

This was my first book by Sarah Douglas and I was impressed. What I appreciated most about this book was how connected to the characters I felt. The hurt the two characters had experienced was real and they way they tip-toed around each other just increased their chemistry and I loved it. There were many difficult issues in this book and it could've ended up being very sad, but the author presented it in a way that gave hope. I loved how protective Jace was. This book had lots of angst but not too much. The plot moved along well and I wanted to keep reading to see the resolution. Overall a very good read with romance and swoon to satisfy.

3.5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for early access to this book!

I thought the story of Maybe One Day was incredible unique and heartbreaking. It begins at a party where Hayley and Jace (her best friends older brother and her older brother's friend) are hiding in a bathroom before deciding to leave. Since Jace was sober, he agrees to drive Hayley home where they witness a fatal car crash. When they check on the victims of both cars, Hayley realizes that the passenger of one of the cars is her older brother, Tom, who got in the car with a friend who had been drinking at the same party Hayley and Jace were both at. The story then jumps a few years to when Hayley and Jace are attending the same college and navigate the guilt and grief from that night and also the attraction they have for one another. On top of being a freshman at a school where she doesn't know many people, and still heartbroken over the loss of her brother, Hayley also encounters a stalker who is continuously jeopardizing her safety throughout the book.

There were many things I did enjoy about the book:
- loved the trope of best friends brother/ sister
- I thought the relationship between Hayley and her best friend, Amelia was very sweet
- the twist at the end did surprise me quite a bit!
- "it's always been you"

I did not like:
- there was SO much back and forth on Jace's end and it was exhausting....
- I thought it was going to be dual POV since Jace had a chapter in the very beginning but that was his ONLY POV chapter...
- there was so much trauma bonding. Which can be fine, but since it wasn't dual POV, it really seemed like Jace was more protective and possessive, rather than really loving Hayley for who she was beyond the tragedies.

The plot of this book was fantastic and really well executed. I thought the story and the experiences really came through and the emotions of the characters were very well done. I liked Haley and Jace a lot and I liked seeing their connection over time. This plot kept me reading because of how well it was done however, some of the writing could use work. I found the transitions to be a little tough, especially between time jumps. I would often have to go back and reread paragraph to realize the time changed. I wasnโ€™t a fan of the third act break up, but it was kind of explained towards the end. A tiny bit of it felt contrived as well. Overall, I think this is well done for a review story, but it couldโ€™ve used more refinement before being published. I do look forward to see what ideas this author has next, because the book felt original, which was refreshing. As a trigger warning, there is a scene depicting death with some visuals explained, and there is attempted sexual assault. Additionally, there is stalking and mental health concerns for various characters. 3โญ๏ธ, 2๐ŸŒถ

๐˜”๐˜ข๐˜บ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ ๐˜–๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ ๐˜‹๐˜ข๐˜บ follows Haley, who's desperate to leave her sleeepy small town behind to forget the accident that still causes nightmares and signs up for the same college as her best friend's brother. As the pair reconnect, they lean on each other to forget the tragedy they both survived and try to move forward with their feelings for each other only if said feelings didn't include the sense someone's always watching.

The book's kinda basic.

It features too many micro breakups and a somewhat repetitive plot. I still don't know what is the personality of even a single character from the book because they all read the same.

But it's not a bad plot.

It's got many intense moments where you're scared of the circumstances so good on the author for bringing that out.

I just wish the author introduced what the main characters' personalities are and why ever they fell in love and how? We are simply told they've loved each other since forever but not shown much.

The plot was good and well though of but the execution lacked.

I still found Jace and Haley's moments together kind of swoony, that is when they were not breaking up.

Triggers: Sexual Assault, Abuse, Attempted Murder, Death of a sibling (on-page).
