They say we eat with our eyes first!
What first captured my attention was the originality of the proposal and the detailed and beautiful photograpgy. The amount of detail put into each section is a life saver for beginners. The presentation is gorgeous, neat, organized and minimalist.
If you are following the Aip protocol, you know is amazing but it can become a bit dull after a while, one thing I miss the most is not being able to have a treat from time to time. Seeing the index, I was surprides to see how many Aip friendly options we have. I was curious to know more!
The book is amazing if you are starting the Aip protocol too, I know it can be so confusing at first. This book has a brief but complete introduction to the protocol, it's such a relief when you can find a step by step guide to a new way of eating.
The recipes are incredible, won't give you any spoilers! I loved that the author takes the time to go through all ingredients and secrets to make sure you don’t only enjoy the final products but the baking itself. I know it can be frustraiting learning to cook with unknown ingredients and techniques. Having someone to guide you through with so much work and research behind is reassuring.
If you love to explore new baking ideas and also keep track of your diet, this book is for you. I already have a few favorites I can’t wait to try!!
From Description of Netgally:
Baking on the AIP is tough. Really tough. What’s a baker to do when standard baking ingredients such as grains, dairy, sugar, eggs, and nuts are off the table? What can you create that is free of the ingredients that make you sick, yet still tastes like the real thing? The answer is...not a lot. Until now!
Beef Mince Pie
Tigernut Butter & Jam Sammies
Apple Butter Bars
Carrot Cake Everything
Streusel Cake

I am not allergic to any ingredient, but I do have sometimes problems with Lactose - nothing really heavy. BUT I do try to avoid things that make me sick. I found it very cool to see what kind of ingredients you can cut off but make something absolutely deklicious - even without milk or flour or whatever ingredient you are allergic to. Even for non allergic people it is nice to see, how can I make stuff without using somehing. The recipes are great, as always I will sure try a few. I also like the facts and information you are given throughout the book., And also this time, metric and imperial measurements are included, thanks! As I alwys mentioned in Cookboooks Reviews, as long as you are happy with the result, it does not matter if you cook or bake vegan or with all the "regular" stuff like milk, flour and eggs. Infomations and facts are always important in a Baking or Cookingbook - and I did find that hereI
Really looking forward to try out something, cant decide what! Maybe the Cauliflower Pizza Crust or the Bagels - we´ll see =))

As a person who has suffered with migraines my whole life and recently found out that it is due to food sensitivities, I was so excited to see this cook book! It is filled with 75 unique recipes all dairy, grain, and egg free.
I loved in the beginning of the book it shows alternative flours, sweeteners, etc which I found very helpful. When making dramatic changes to your diet it can be overwhelming but this definitely did an excellent job guiding the reader on best practices. The pictures that accompanied the recipes were beautiful and I can't wait to start making them!
I give this book 5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley and the author for an advanced copy.
I always enjoy reading new cookbooks because I learn something new each time! This one had lots of tips on different foods to avoid depending on the autoimmune issue you have. I've saved quite a few of these and look forward to trying them.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!
The Autoimmune Protocol Baking Book: 75 Sweet Savory Allergen-Free Treats that add Joy to your Healing Journey by Wendi Washington- Hunt
A great baking book with so many options for people with autoimmune specific dietary needs.
I love food and am always so saddened to hear when people with health conditions have to cut out a whole section of food options.
While I don’t have conditions that would require this type of eating, I do love to check out all different kinds of cookbooks to see what they offer and how they alter ingredients to meet health needs.
This one has some great options and while I’ve never used the types of flours that are required here, the images are stunning and I can only imagine that the recipes taste fabulous.
Definitely check this one out of you or a loved one suffers with autoimmune issues. I’m guessing it’s going to easily become a favorite for you!
Thank you to @netgalley and @quartobooksuk for this #arc
One of A Kind Jewel of A Book
Wendi Washington-Hunt provides some background information on Autoimmune, stating that it is sometimes called autoimmune paleo, as it is a subset of the paleo diet.
However, the protocol reaches beyond diet to include other aspects of healing. She states that the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet begins with the process of eliminating or avoiding potentially inflammatory foods for a period of time to allow the body to heal and repair. She further states that as we eliminate some foods, others, such as vegetables and fruits, should be added to flood the body with nutrients.
The author outlines a process consisting of three phases: the elimination phase, the reintroduction phase, and the maintenance phase. She discusses each phase by providing a list of foods to avoid, a list to enjoy, and determine what is best to consume.
The author provides a lengthy list of foods to avoid during the elimination process, such as:
1. Beans and legumes of every kind.
2. Dairy.
3. Eggs: chicken, duck, goose, quail, etc.
4. Grains of every kind.
These are just a few on her list of foods to avoid.
She also provides a list of foods to enjoy. Just to name a few, are:
1. Vegetables: she put this list first because she feel that it is the most important food for us to eat.
2. Fats, suchas avocado oil, coconut oil, duck fat, lard, olive oil, palm oil, palm shortening, tallow.
3. Fish.
4. Fruit.
The author states that during the reintroduction phase, eliminated foods should be added back slowly, one at a time, so that we may discover our unique food triggers, because this reintroduction phase may help us to determine which foods should be avoided.
She states that in the final maintenance phase, we should
consume the widest and most varied diet possible while avoiding our trigger foods.
I love all the AIP recipes provided, from cookies, pies, cakes to cobblers, bagels, and various other breads.
I have an Autoimmune problem, and I feel this book will be very beneficial to me. I will be using this book beginning with the Cranberry Orange Spice Bread, the Banana “Chocolate ” Swirl Bread, and the Carrot Cake Everything recipes.
I feel this book is a jewel to own for anyone suffering from an Autoimmune problem.
Many thanks to the author. Very nicely done.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I went into this book not expecting to fall in love with this cookbook, The cookbook is easy to read and it excludes
common allergens such as gluten, egg, and dairy. It also does a wonderful job of highlighting sweeteners that are natural and is perfect for individuals with dietary restrictions.
I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is an interesting book. The introduction is healthy and defines what an autoimmune protocol for baking is. This book excludes common allergens like gluten, egg, and dairy. The book also focuses on using alternative sweeteners which I'm not a fan of, but the recipes are good for those who can't have sugar.
This is a nice book for those who have dietary restrictions but still want to enjoy baking.
This book is full of hope for delicious baked goods while being honest (they're not going to taste "normal") and encouraging. I have a list of recipes that I can't wait to try out! Hear my full review on the Health with Hashimoto's podcast (episode "bonus 2" releasing 12/10/22.)
I follow the GoodReads rating system not the Amazon rating system. This book gets 4 stars – I really liked it! (To get 5 stars, a book needs to impact my daily life.)
Thank you Fair Wonds Press and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this book. This is a great, beautifully organized book that focuses on autoimmune friendly recipes. Beautiful illustrations accompany almost every recipe. I was glad to come across this book and am looking forward to trying out some recipes.
Great resource book for those who need to eliminate certain foods from their diets or who have friends and family who they cook for regularly. It includes some unusual ingredients and methods of baking which it is helpful to know that someone else has tried out first. However, if you don't need a specific diet, then this book is not necessary for you.
Beautifully organized and executed cookbook. I am always looking for healthy recipes so was excited to stumble across this cookbook. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
Now that I've found out that I have IBS I'm always looking for creative and delicious baking recipes that can accomodate my new needs. These all looked delicious and there was a nice variety of different treats to make!
