A really sweet story with great characters. I really enjoyed seeing the relationship between the two main characters develop. Recommended.
Freya and Charlie are both trying to get a bank to help them with a mortgage. They were best friends since kindergarten but had not seen each other in years. They run into each other in a bar and later Freya decides to ask if he wants to go in with her on a house. They intend to fix it up and then sell it and hopefully each have enough to buy their own houses. Charlie has his eye set on a house that needs lots of work but he convinces Freya it would not be too hard to fix it up. I really loved this book. The house has so many problems and it was fun to see how they tackle all the renovations. Charlie is so patient and Freya makes lists, including house rules for their living together. Freya’s grandfather and his dog add so much to the story. Great characters, lots love and humor.
I'd like to thank NetGalley and One More Chapter for an ARC of this book.
This is a lovely, clean slow burn romance. This story was well paced and just plain adorable. The characters were well developed and incredibly likeable, especially their contrasting personalities. I really enjoyed their rehab journey and some of their mistakes. The grandfather and his sweet dog Teddy nicely rounded out the story. I read this book in a day as it pulled me in from the first page and didn't let me go. I was sad when I finished the book because I didn't want to say goodbye to these characters.
Sometimes, I just need something light and humorous and this book was just that.
Her Fixer Upper by Emily Kerr was a feel good, sweet romantic comedy.
Emily Kerr has written a delightful and witty tale. A cute friends-to-lovers that had me flipping the pages all evening.
So I have to admit I enjoyed this a lot more than I originally expected.
I was hooked once I started. Kerr pulled me and hooked me immediately.
I loved her writing. It flowed so well. And kept me engaged.
Excellent character development, good pacing and a storyline that keeps you engaged. This is a fast, fun and enjoyable read.
So wonderfully written and unbelievably uplifting.

Thank You NetGalley and One More Chapter for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
Her Fixer Upper by Emily Kerr was a perfect read for a sunny spring weekend. Freya and Charlie are realistically charming, funny, annoying, immature and human. And their house sounds as though it could be perfect one day!
Her Fixer Upper by E. Kerr, published by Harper Collins / UK - One More Chapter is a stand-alone romance novel.
Freya and Charlie are friends for forever - and now they're becomeing roommates/business partners in buing a fixer upper hoping their dreams may come true.
A beautiful, sweet that gives the warm and fuzzy feelings story, 4 beautiful stars.
Freya Hutchinson is stuck; she wants to get in the housing ladder but she can't, she's stuck in a shared house with a creepy landlord until she bumps into an old friend and her plans for the future change instantly.
This is a nice story; it's very realistic - From the description of Freya's job as a history teacher to the description of the DIY they undertake, it's a nice, realistic story. I quickly got swept up into the characters, even if I did find Freya frustrating at times!
Kerr has a great writing style that gives you all the detail you need without feeling like it's been shoe-horned in. The prose flows naturally and paints a great picture in your mind.
I'd quite like to read the sequel now...and find out what happens next!
Oh my goodness, I LOVED this! I have read some other Emily Kerr books, so I knew I would enjoy this, but I sped through it, wanting to read every last word and to know exactly how things ended!
Freya and Charlie are childhood friends who have lost touch but meet again, by chance, in a pub.
And their fateful meeting couldn't come at a better time, as both are trying to get on the property ladder, but neither is having any luck, what with the economy, and the state of most people's finances, right now.
One thing leads to another, and the two friends find themselves celebrating their renewed friendship with the added golden handshake of a joint mortgage on a doozy of a fixer-upper!
I love property renovation, and I pictured Oak Tree Cottage as they gently rid it of its debris and began to make it a house worthy of living in.
And, more than the conversion of the house, I loved how the friendship between the two main characters began to morph, too.
Aided brilliantly by Arthur, Freya's Grandfather, and her best friend, Leila, and not forgetting Ted, Aarthur's dog, who ends up with them for a while, it was a pleasure to read the developments!
Hutch and Humph for life!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins, One More Chapter for an ARC.
I enjoyed this slow burn, friends to lovers romance. It kept me engaged throughout, however I do wish the ending was longer as it felt a bit unfinished. It would’ve been nice for the book to finish at the point the renovation did as it felt as though the reader was following along with the renovation, but missed the ending. That being said, it’s an enjoyable, clean read that I would recommend
Having issues downloading to my kindle and unable to. give feedback but don't want to give a negative review.
This book had me laughing out loud and rooting for Freya and Charlie in this second chance Rom-Com. I loved this book ! I would give it 6 stars if I could.

A real great feel-good romance. Wonderful characters, a good back story and a crazy dog. Settle down and enjoy.
One of my favourite books this year. Romance and property development wrapped up in a great story with laugh out loud moments along the way, how could anyone not love this book?
This talented and gifted author has written a cannot put down romance which made me laugh out loud. The protagonist is so likable and realistic. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. Curl up in a cozy chair with a comfy blanket…get lost in this story of love and romance and second chances. I liked this book. I really did. Don’t miss this. This would make such a great television movie. I can picture the main character and her rules. The grandfather was a sweet person and so true to life. The dog, Ted, was a real life character also. The love interest…too good to be true or not. Just read this and be swept away for an afternoon.
This was a cosy read with some lovely main characters in Freya and Charlie, childhood friends who lost contact then bump into each other unexpectedly and quickly decide to resolve their individual property issues by buying a house together. I think I struggled with the speed with which they bought this not to mention attempting to live in it with no thought on safety or making it vaguely habitable first, the characters themselves are great and their issues with renovation realistic it just is just some elements stretched my belief a little too far. That said it’s a sweet easy read with some good humour and a feel good ending.
A really sweet friends-to-lovers romance. Two friends who are unable to afford their own homes, decide to purchase and renovate a house together. Could anything possibly go wrong?
Freya dreams of owning her own home. Charlie is struggling to get a mortgage. The two old friends bump into each other on a night out, and Charlie jokes that they should buy a house together to solve their problems. Charlie doesn’t expect Freya to say yes. What ensues are the trials and tribulations they go through on a less than perfect fixer upper.
A fun read with likeable characters, a grandad you can count on and romance. I really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, One More Chapter and Emily Kerr for the chance to review this fun read in exchange for my honest opinion.
4/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A very sweet love story and the characters were wonderful. I adored all the bits about them doing the house up. A feel good rom com
This was a sweet book. I enjoyed the main characters and their friendship that turns into more. I also liked the fixer upper part of the story. Going to look for more by this author.
The story of childhood best friends who buy a fixer upper in the hopes of earning enough to buy their separate first homes. And love comes. It is a sweet story with likable characters.
A lot of charm, but it struggled to hold my interest (or maybe I struggled to stay interested). Some foundational plot points were weak (yes, a builder joke), including the nasty landlord's creepy behavior being a catalyst rather than an actionable crime.
