Thanks to the author and One More Chapter for providing this ARC through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
The captivating premise of this thriller instantly grabbed my attention, so I don't know why I let it sit on my shelf for so long before finally diving into its pages.
From the get-go, the story promises a thrilling ride. Picture this: an entire bus full of children and several staff members vanishing on their way home from a school trip. How is that possible? Gone--leaving a chilling mystery with no clues. Soon, total chaos unfolds as breadcrumbs emerge. Some parents have secrets they're desperate to keep hidden, and they aren't secrets they want to spill to the police!
I was so excited as I turned the pages! These affluent parents have a treasure trove of tantalizing secrets, but it felt like a juggling act with so many characters to keep track of. However, their tangled web of intrigue is juicy gossip that's hard to resist! A shorter book might have smoothed out some of those bumps, as I prefer a narrative that hits the ground running without undue detail.
Still, every story has its audience! The author masterfully weaves in complex twists and unexpected shocks that will keep you on your toes. This might be the perfect thriller you've been waiting for!

Thank you Netgalley for this book. I have just got round to this one and I am so glad i did. This book had me on the edge of my seat! I didn't work out the twist at all and I love it when that happens. It kept me guessing to the very end! A great book with plenty of action! Defiantly recommend.
I was intrigued by the premise of this book and I was invested in the beginning, but it started to lose my attention as it dragged on towards the middle. There were so many characters and POV's, which I feel definitely contributed to my lack of focus. It did pick up towards the end and delivered a few good surprises. It just needed more substance.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for this eARC.
It is an engaging mystery novel that delves into the sudden disappearance of an entire classroom. The plot is well-paced, with intriguing twists and well-drawn characters that keep the reader invested. The story explores themes of loss, community, and the hidden lives of children, making it more than just a standard mystery. While some plot elements may feel familiar, the author’s writing style and ability to maintain suspense make this book a compelling read. Perfect for those who enjoy thoughtful, character-driven mysteries.
The Vanishing of Class 3B by Jackie Kabler is a suspenseful psychological thriller that grabbed my attention from the very start. The novel centers around the eerie and perplexing disappearance of an entire class of children and their teachers during a school trip, leaving their community in a state of shock and confusion.
What I enjoyed most about this book was its gripping narrative and the suspense that Kabler skillfully builds throughout. The plot is filled with red herrings and unexpected twists that kept me guessing until the very end. The characters are well-developed, each harboring their own secrets and motivations, which added significant depth to the unfolding mystery. The shifting perspectives between the distraught parents, the determined investigators, and other affected individuals provided a comprehensive and emotionally engaging view of the incident .
However, I did find some elements of the plot to be a bit predictable. Additionally, the portrayal of the police investigation sometimes lacked the depth and realism I had hoped for. The teachers, in particular, seemed somewhat underdeveloped, which made it a bit challenging to fully invest in their roles within the story .
Despite these minor issues, I found The Vanishing of Class 3B to be a compelling and fast-paced read. The strong premise, effective pacing, and satisfying resolution make it a good choice for fans of light mysteries and those looking for a quick, engaging thriller.
Overall, while it may not be perfect, the book’s strengths in suspense and character dynamics make it a worthwhile read. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with plenty of twists and turns, this book is definitely worth checking out.
I’m a mother and this book hit me so hard. This story is about the vanishing of the whole class. They went on a school trip and they didn’t come back. there is no information about what happened, there is no sign of the bus. There is no information from the police, who, in fact, do nothing, so for me it was so hard to read it because I know how the parents could feel.
It was really greatly written so I believe that the emotion will be visible with the naked eye even if you’re not a parent and but you still have someone to take care of, we are not at the islands., We have someone around, so this book, this emotion, this fear gonna hit no matter what.
So I believe this is a masterpiece. It is engaging. It is something that you cannot put down because you want to know what’s more, what’s next, what’s happened to these kids, teachers and what about the parents so I think this book and the ending also is very interesting. It’s original and it’s the book that makes me think about it long long time even before I have finished
I wish I had more. Books like that are on the market.
Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This book was gripping from the off. It was well-paced and I was invested in the storyline and it kept me guessing throughout, although certain elements were predictable. I would like to read more by this author.
I was so excited to jump into this after reading the premise of the book, and it did not let me down. There were so many twists and turns and I couldn’t put it down. The ending was so unexpected but was so satisfying. The characters felt so real and I grew to care for them so much and just wanted everything to work out for the best. Overall, an incredible read.
A class go out on a day trip from school. And don’t turn back up. I mean come on! This in itself was enough to grab my attention!
It’s a rollercoaster of a ride and I can’t wait to read the next book as this left me wanting more!
Well this one hurt my heart at times as a parent! Imagining the pain of the parents whose children have gone missing without a trace was horrible, but I think helped to add to the suspense of the book. It gained an extra star from me because some of the twists surprised me which I always enjoy.
Some of the secrets from the parents felt a little generic and boring. I liked the fast paced chapters and differing points of view. Some of the choices by the police were questionable at best.
I read the book fairly quickly which always tells me I enjoyed a book, all in all I would recommend it as a decent mystery thriller with a few twists and turns along the way.
I was fortunate to receive a space on the blog tour from Boldwood Books for this book. I remember the author for her days on GMTV so was very keen to read a book by her as now an author!
This was a really interesting concept, how can a coach load of children just disappear, with their teachers? The cast of parents were pretty unlikeable and I enjoyed how it all unravelled. I'll be checking out the author's previous books now.
OMW. I tried so hard to get into this book but found it very difficult to do. I didn't enjoy the way it was written and a bit too much description for me. Sorry, sounded and looked as though this would be good. Personally was disappointed.
Many thanx to NetGalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read and review this book
The class of 3b vanish on a day trip. This certainly aroused my curiosity. Delving into the lives of the parents of the children and what they were going through added to the story. So many secrets , but did they have anything yo do with the disappearance. . As the plot unfurled shocking revelations came to light.
The kids head off excited on their school trip. But their bus never returns home and the anxious parents await instructions from the kidnappers...
The Vanishing of Class 3B is a psychological thriller that plays to every parent's worst fears.
As both a parent and a teaching assistant, I was instantly drawn into the plot. 10 children and 4 school staff go missing on the way home from a school trip. Their families nervously wait for more information but is is clear that almost all of them are hiding secrets. The kidnappers finally make contact and demand that one person pays for their secret, but who...?
The book is written from various thrid person viewpoints, including the parents, police and later the missing children and staff. This allows us to see the fear and pressure that various characters are experiencing. Several of the parents have secrets but who is the kidnapper referring to? I found it a little confusing as there were different secrets hinted at and it was tricky to track which ones were acting suspiciously.
The plot doesn't move too quickly, indeed it is days before the kidnappers make contact. This stretched my credulity a little. There are elements of police procedure as we see the investigation unfold. But it is the emotional connection to the parent characters that maintained my interest in the plot developments.
The Vanishing of Class 3B had a gripping premise.
this was majorly addictive, and super easy to read in one sitting if you’re up for it! i was so caught up in the whirlwind that was this book, like how on earth could an entire class of children vanish??? i feel like it took a fear from deep inside me and brought it into reality and for my own peace of mind i had to see it through to the end. i was well proud of myself for guessing the twist to this - but oddly, it didn’t make it less enjoyable witnessing it play out, whereas usually i get annoyed when i figure out the plot! i’d recommend this as a short and fast paced thriller, it would be great if you’re in a reading slump!
Found the story a bit predictable. Although the concept intrigued me and I enjoyed the first part of the story felt the second could have held abit more mystery
Well written with a compelling story line and well developed characters. The book had me gripped right from the start and kept me hooked all the way through. There was a good amount of twists and turns and it kept me guessing all the way through
A great read
This author doesn’t disappoint
A real page turner
Plenty of twists and turns
Thanks NetGalley
This was a good read, with plenty of twists and turns. I found it a little confusing at first with some many names to keep track of, after that it was very enjoyable. The characters were great, the plot was exiting and the style of writing was perfect. I have read a few books by this author, I haven’t been disappointed with any of them.. looking forward to the next one out. I would recommend this to anyone who likes reading psychological thrillers.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a honest review.
Book Review: The Vanishing of Class 3B by Jackie Kabler
Rating: ⭐⭐ out of 5 stars
The Vanishing of Class 3B by Jackie Kabler takes readers on a thrilling journey into the mysterious disappearance of an entire class of children and their teachers. Set in the picturesque Cotswolds, the story begins innocently enough with a day trip for the students and teachers from a local primary school. However, as nightfall descends and the parents anxiously await the return of their children, it becomes apparent that something unimaginable has occurred - the entire class has vanished without a trace.
The plot of The Vanishing of Class 3B is undeniably original and promises an intriguing mystery. Kabler expertly sets the scene, immersing readers in the idyllic surroundings of the Cotswolds, only to shatter this peaceful facade with the unexplained disappearance of the children. The concept alone is enough to capture one’s attention and generate curiosity.
However, despite its promising premise, The Vanishing of Class 3B falls short in its execution. For me, the book was an average read, failing to fully engage my attention throughout. The story often dragged in certain places, making it difficult to maintain interest. Additionally, I found the narrative to be repetitive which further hindered my enjoyment.
One aspect that compounded my struggle to stay engaged was the abundance of characters introduced in the story. With so many individuals to keep track of, it became convoluted and challenging to connect with any one character on a deeper level.
Despite these shortcomings, The Vanishing of Class 3B must be commended for its originality. The idea of an entire class mysteriously disappearing is a captivating concept that peaks curiosity and leaves readers eager to uncover the truth behind this extraordinary event.
In my opinion, The Vanishing of Class 3B by Jackie Kabler deserves a two-star rating. While the plot is undeniably original and intriguing, the book falls short in its execution. The pacing is often slow, the narrative repetitive, and the abundance of characters becomes overwhelming. However, the unique concept behind the story still makes it worth considering for readers seeking an unconventional mystery.
