Annie Valentine, a middle aged mother of four, is a personal shopper with her own tv show. When her tv show is cancelled, she’s left at a loose end. When a friend needs her help saving her business in New York, Annie jumps at the opportunity.

This was book five in a series (which I didn’t realise until I started reading the book), but can be read as a stand alone.

This is a good book if you want something easy to read where you can quickly switch off and escape real life. Unfortunately I don’t think I was the right target audience for this book. I found that I wasn’t invested in the characters but wonder if I would have been had I read the other books in the series.

Thanks to @netgalley and Boldwood Books for the review copy.

New York Valentine by Carmen Reid is a fun, laugh out loud read about a mother/daughter trip to New York City. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I always recommend reading the whole series for character background. Annie Valentine and her complicated life. When Annie’s television show gets canceled she and her daughter, Lana, go to New York to help out a friend with her dress company. Together they have some magical, hilarious adventures, finding material, getting noticed and going to the gym. Highly recommend this read.

This was my first book by this author. It is a series but is a can be read as a standalone. It follows Annie who juggles a successful TV show and a family until her TV show gets cancelled. She gets the opportunity to go to NYC and take her teenage daughter with her to help a friend with her struggling business. She leaves behind her husband and other children for several weeks to do this. I loved Annie and how resourceful she is and how devoted to her family she was. This was a cute book and would read more by this author.
