Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This book starts in the sixties, with mentions of Billy Fury, Decca, mods and rockers and quiffs and ends in the mid-seventies, stirring up memories from my past of shopping in C&A and Littlewoods. Each story is short but they overlap and intertwine as the characters pop up intermittently. There are lovely moments, hilarious sections and surprising twists making an interesting collection of tales set around Christmas. I particularly loved the stories of Ron, and Bill, but I'm sure other readers would choose others as their personal favourites because each one touches a chord. An enjoyable collection to dip into, there's something for everyone.
A real Christmassy story with plenty of things going on. A great read and one to curl up with. 5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
This was a fun book to read. It offers twenty short Christmas stories, some with more romantic themes than others. All of the stories are set in England, many in Chelmsford, Essex. The stories are engaging and entertaining. I highly recommend this book to other fiction readers. I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley, and the opinion expressed is strictly my own.
I think it's so hard to find a Christmas anthology that hits just right. Sadly, this one wasn't as good as I expected it to be. I felt it was monotonous, and I found myself going through the stories without any flicker of interest or emotion whatsoever. I don't want to sound too harsh, but it's hard to give criticism when a book isn't too bad, but it's just...meh. It's forgettable, and I'm sure I won't remember any of the stories or characters a week from now.
I enjoyed this cozy, Christmassy feel-good book. Loved the story and enjoyed the warm wintery feeling I got from.this book.
The Christmas Kiss and other stories
This is a quick selection of Christmas stories. It a nice quick read if you want something christmassy as this time of year.
An ok selection of short stories, some sad, some funny and some romantic. Easy to dip in and out of at this time of year for a touch of a Christmas hit.
A cute little collection of festive stories that could be picked up and put down as required. I really enjoyed them
This book gave me the feel of love actually, very English intertwined Christmas vibes.
While I did enjoy some of the stories. I like the one of the old couple talking and dancing, the butcher boy love story over the years, the stuck elevator and several others. This book just needed a bit more of something. It was confusing at points because some stories crossed, and others had the same names, but didn’t. I think if the crossing and mixing of stories had been just a bit clearer I definitely would of given it a higher rating.
It was however a quick read and like I said I did enjoy some of the stories. A Christmas anthology.
A great compilation of Christmas stories to dip in and out of to get in the Christmas spirit, but when you don’t have time or energy to invest in a longer story,
Christmas in the Sixties.
On her way to London for some last-minute Christmas shopping, Marie meets old flame Johnny. In a day full of emotion, understanding and misunderstanding, Marie looks at the ring on her finger and asks, could she, should she rekindle their relationship?
On Christmas Eve anything is possible. In Chelmsford, friends Linda and Sandra are out on the town. Everyone is dressed in their best. Everyone is looking for a Christmas kiss.
A mysterious Christmas card, a school nativity play, a fireman’s Christmas shift, dancing in a retirement home and more - this is a collection of poignant and funny short stories to brighten the holidays and all year.
The Christmas Kiss written by Elizabeth Woodcraft was cute, but it somewhat confused me. There were too many characters, certain characters from the previous story came up in a new story, but with other different people. I like how this author made little stories based on the same town in London, but less characters would have been better for me. The cover and title really pulled me in to read this book, but, I don't know, it just wasn't one of my favorite Christmas books of this year. I enjoyed learning about different traditions that other countries have, specifically this book was based off in London, so they have like a cracker pulling contest, where little gifts fall out of the cracker, i'm not sure if it's like the food cracker, but if so, how does someone fit a ring in a cracker?
"Why does a bee hum"?

My thanks to NetGalley and Cameron Publishers for a copy of “ The Christmas Kiss and Other Stories” for an honest review.
I love a good festive read , and although not a big fan of short stories , I’ve read a couple of such books recently which changed my opinion , unfortunately this one wasn’t one of them!
Interesting as a bit of nostalgia but too lightweight for me, even for a Christmas read.
Sadly just not for me.
