The description of this book was a lot more interesting than the actual book. The plot fell a little short for me, and I was ultimately kind of disappointed with this book. Not sure if I'd read more from this author.

I love the fake marriage trope and since this was my first Jessica Hatch book I was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be reading more of her in the future!

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

DNF.
Unfortunate this didn’t have anything that different from other romcoms and didn’t make me want to read on.
Found it kind of predictable and wasn’t for me in the end.

This was well written and really funny in places I found myself actually laughing out loud. I gave it a solid 3 stars and have told my friends to read it.

This book seemed more promising than what was delivered.
It wasn't even the cover that had grabbed my attention, but the description of what the book was about. As someone who has been married over a decade, I do enjoy books that discuss that ups and downs (aka the reality) of marriage, but the manner in way this book was working to execute it fell short for me.

How To Keep A Husband For 10 Days immediately caught my eye on Netgalley. The title reminded me of the movie How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days which I always enjoy watching. Plus from the summery, I knew that there was going to be some faux-romance which is one of my favorite troupes. Unfortunately for me, what this book offered me was nothing like I expected.

Lina and Brown are a married couple in the middle of a divorce. The only problem? Their friends don't know they have split up and are coming to visit. In order to protect their friends, they decide to pretend to be married while their friends are here. This of course means living with each other and showing the type of affection that their friends are used to seeing from them. That should be easy for them right? Not exactly.

This first thing I noticed was that everything seemed to be underdeveloped. From the characters to the plot, it just seemed like nothing was fully thought out. There were also way too many subplots which were distracting from the characters of Lina and Brown. I also felt they never actually addressed their issues. There was so much miscommunication and misdirection, it got a bit frustrating after a while.

How To Keep Your Husband For 10 Days had so much potential but it just really didn't live up to it for me. I just always felt like something was missing. It also was not a happy rom-com as one might expect from the cover and blurbs. I truly didn't find any aspects of comedy in these pages. If there was, I must have missed them. This really was just a "meh" book for me but, I would be willing to give the author another chance if she wrote something else that peaked my interest.

Aye, another premise and cover that threw me for a loop! Went in with high expectations for a romcom with hilarious moments and got hardly any of that: forced conversation, no real love between the characters, immaturity on behalf of our FMC, Lina, and just not what I was hoping for. I did like Brown, though, and his ability to try and resolve issues even when they’re tough. But overall, couldn’t really establish a connection with this story. Hate that, but it is what it is. Thanks for the opportunity to review!

I went into this expecting a light hearted, funny, romantic comedy. I don’t feel like I got any of that. Ended up not finishing at 30%. Wasn’t a big fan of the narration or the authors writing style.

I can’t personally recommend, but doesn’t mean that someone won’t really love it.

This was such a good book. It was so easy to read and that’s what I look for in a romcom. Very cute. Would definitely recommend

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced copy of How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days by Jessica Hatch.

How to Keep a Husband for 10 Days by Jessica Hatch can best be described as rom-com meets romantic comedy. The author does a great job of pulling both together in a story that makes you root for the main characters.
Lina and Brown are on the brink of divorce, living separately, but telling no one. This backfires when all of their friends want them to help save the building, they all met in. The history of all the time spent in this building brings them all together to fight.
Lina and Brown decide to pretend they are happily married around their friends instead of just telling the truth. With all the time they spend together Lina and Brown realize that maybe not all is lost in their marriage. They both re-examine the issues that led them to separate.
During all of this we get to see how things were when they were happy with memories of the time all the friends lived in the apartment and had all these great dinner parties together.
I enjoyed this book and found it a fun read.

I really wanted to like this more than I did.
It was advertised as hilarious and totally addictive romcom of a marriage at breaking point and pretending to be in a happy and loving marriage to fool their friends to avoid the awkward conversation, and somehow managing to fall back in love with each other. Of course, I was hooked, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations.
The storyline felt stale and forced, and the characters felt very two dimensional. There was so much potential for these characters, but they just lacked the development needed to really make me feel connected to them. There was so much potential for this book in every aspect, it wasn't a bad book in any way, it was just lacking.

I hate to be so critical, because I know the author would have put their heart and soul into this, and I'm sure there will be people out there who love this book, but unfortunately, it's just not for me.

Thank you very much to Netgalley for allowing me to read this as an ARC. This is my honest review.

I really wanted to love this book but it just didn’t make me feel the heart-warming satisfaction I usually get from rom-coms. This book reminded me a lot of tv shows that have the skit to fool their friends but I didn’t find it really funny or romantic. I hate giving bad reviews but this one fell flat for me. The characters weren’t quite developed fully or as much as I would have liked. I did appreciate the premise or the effort and the book cover was cute.

Sorry, not what I had expected.

I thought this book was going to be more of how Lina and Brown interacted with other another while they are forced to stay together for a week when their friends visited and navigate around their marriage crisis. But the side character keeps coming, then suddenly they are talking about protesting against the sale of the building they used to live in?

I didn’t connect with both characters, mainly because Lina frustrates me and we don’t see more of Brown’s emotions and thought process as this all pans out.

The blurb sounded interesting with the fake-dating, and it could have been great.

The story of a married couple and their friends who met whuilst all living in the same building. Fast forward a few years later and they all reunite to try and save their beloved building from being developed into a modernised monolith. However, secrets are being kept, including Brown and Lina trying to hide the fact they are getting divorced, To be honest, I found this to be quite predictable and lacking the "com" of "rom-com".

I truly made an effort to become deeply involved in this book, but I encountered difficulties in forging a meaningful connection with the characters. The narrative seemed to place me in the middle of the story abruptly, resulting in a persistent sense of bewilderment. Although I derived some enjoyment from the main characters and their amusing pretense of being married, the overarching plot or perhaps the pacing ultimately left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed.

Unfortunately had to DNF this arc as it wasn't the book for me. Super slow pacing and I really didn't like the characters.
