I feel like this book and the blurb were fairly misleading. I dont want to rip a book apart so I would rather not comment more about this one.
I'm sorry this wasn't what I was expecting or hoping for at all. The cover and blurb give the "rom-com" vibe but it doesn't deliever on that promise. Also the style of writing didn't convince me and the pace was really slow. The plot wasn’t very exciting and sadly I couldn't connect with the main characters Lina and Brown. I found them unreal and unappealing. The side characters were interesting though, and so was the synopsis that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. The idea was definitely lovely, second chance romances and forced proximity are some of my favourites but it just didn't work as well as I hoped for. I'm sure this is "it's not you, it's me" situation and others will enjoy this book more than I did. Maybe if I've gone into it blind, without reading the synopsis I'd enjoy it better because there wouldn't be any expectations on my part. Oh well, I'm sad to say this book was just not my cup of tea.
Cute, easy read! I enjoyed it! I love the trope of a fake marriage and Lina & Brown do a great job hiding their problems from their friends.
💍 “ My husband and I have never considered divorce… murder sometimes, but never divorce.”—Dr. Joyce Brothers
💍 The story follows Lina and Brown whose marriage is on the verge of divorce. But when their oldest friends unexpectedly announce that they are coming to stay, Lina and Brown are left with no other option but to pretend to be married. How hard can it be?
💍 Pick this up if you like/don’t mind: ( this is me secretly telling you NOT TO PICK THIS BOOK )
📌 a QUICKEST read: this had to be the most quickest book I had ever read. I skimmed through most of the parts because I just wanted it to end.
📌 NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER. It says in the blurb: a totally hilarious and heart warming romantic comedy. Are you kidding me or did I read a totally different book? Where was the humour or the romance or the heart warming part? The book didn’t even make me smile. The only moment I smiled was when it finally ended. 😒
📌 Though this book had few of my favourite troupes: second chance romance and forced proximity but sorry it didn’t work out.
📌 roasting a book: for a fact I hate roasting books because I know it takes so much time and effort to write down a book. But this book wasn’t for me. Instead of focusing on “humour” and “romance” 70% of the story revolved around saving the apartment building. And do you wanna know about the irritating MC? Oh, don’t get me started.
💍 In short this book failed to deliver what it promised: humour and romance.
💍 PS: Dear NetGalley why would you do this to me? 😭

I wanted to read a cute and funny romcom but instead I found a book that’s just not for me tbh. I had a few issues with the writing style and character voice. I was promised a laugh out loud book but literally nothing made me laugh 🥲
The synopsis was what drew me in but the very slow pace and the fact that I could not connect with any of the characters , especially not the MC, made me decide to stop reading.
I hope other people who give this book a try will like it more than I did 🫡

I think this was a fun book but it didn't quite meet expectations based on the blurb.
This was a whirlwind of a book (get it? Lol) and I was along for the ride.
Listen. I am not a huge fan of the miscommunication trope, and that is leaned on heavily in this book. That being said, I still enjoyed it, so if you’re a fan then this will 100% be a good read for you!
There was also a lot more than just romance going on, which made it a more multidimensional story and helped me get invested in the main characters through their friendships.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the advanced copy of How to Keep a Husband for 10 Days.
So the cover of the book says that this is "a totally hilarious and heart-warming romantic comedy." I didn't really get comedy out of it though. Sure, there were a couple of funny parts, but I didn't laugh out loud or even snicker all that much during my read. It's still a good book, but if you're expecting something along the lines of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, this doesn't quite hit that mark.
Lina and Brown - the love story of all love stories if you ask their friends. So when Lina's best friend is coming to town but has no idea that Lina and Brown are going through a divorce, they fake it for the weekend. Well, until their other really good friend needs all hands on deck to help save the buyers of his affordable apartment building from turning it into expensive condos. Can they fake it for 10 days without their friends finding out about the divorce and making the whole situation awkward? Or will they end up trying to reconnect and find the magic again? Will they save the apartment building? Will they all remain friends after?
This was a very enjoyable read for me. There is something that I just love about a marriage in trouble romance and I couldn't put the book down until the characters were finally in a good place.
I appreciated the upstanding dinner tradition among friends and recognize how sometimes, just by becoming an adult and growing older, your personal relationships can suffer. I liked reading about working on re-establishing some of those bonds.
Brown was very dreamy and I was genuinelly rooting for his happy ending. I was glad when Lina was able to overcome some of her (annoying) hang-ups and not so flattering journal entries. Luckily she realised a lot had been left unsaid in her relationship and that it is not fair to expect people to know your inner thoughts without you expressing them.
3.5/4 stars.
The cover is so cute and I love the title. Sadly the blurb didn’t match on what I was expecting. I thought it might be a cute rom com or give me the “ how to lose a guy in 10 days” feel but it did not. The side characters were very confusing. I think it’s just a work in progress because the writing seems not done? Overall just confused:(
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
So this was a well written, feel good, second chance at love, romance book that I mostly enjoyed.
I recommend to anyone who enjoy second chance love stories
Thanks Netgalley and publisher

I DNF at 50% I truly tried to finish it to give the most accurate review possible but I just couldn't. If by 50% I don't care if the characters get back together I don't know why I would continue reading it. There isn't a single character in this book I liked. Freddie was fine but the pronoun thing was so out of place especially when the writer put in there that he would have been fine being called he and that would have made the writing so much better and less confusing for his character. Lena was just whiny and miserable. Brown didn't seem to have any redeemable qualities that she should want him back Sophie was annoying and pretentious. I barely even remembered why Mara was part of the plot. The whole trying to see the apartment building thing was virtuous but another thing that just didn't give me enough to care about by 50%. The book could have had potential for a second chance romance and found family trope but it just missed the mark in every way
Thanks to Booktoure and Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC. I was excited and hopeful for this novel however it was not for me. The writing was not my style and I struggled to stay entertained. The premise of the novel is great in which a divorced couple pretends they are still together however I was not able to finish this novel.
the writing was horrible in this book. I was promised humor and exciting plot and romance and I found the female lead to be insfufferable. I expected plot like you deserve each other but this one just didn't deliver. it felt so underdeveloped. Thank you netgalley for the arc.
So good. I laughed and had such a good time reading this and I adored it. I started it and could not put it down until I was finished. Absolutely adorable!!
I just reviewed How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days by Jessica Hatch. #HowtoKeepaHusbandforTenDays #NetGalley

Thanks netgalley for letting me read this book it was an okay book not really my favorite I had a hard time liking the characters but all the same it wasn't the worste book
I liked the premise of this book a couple about to divorce has to pretend to still be together and will their feeling return? That being said that wasn't totally what this book was. I didn't feel it was really a rom-com and the plot surrounding their friends not finding out didn't really make that much sense. I'm not sure too many people would fake a relationship so their friends wouldn't be mad at them. I also didn't really connect with any of the characters or find them all that likeable. The friends were very one dimensional and the main relationship between Lina and Brown (the married couple) never felt that strong to begin with and I can't say I was rooting for them to get back together. This was a tough one for me to rate I round up to 3 stars from 2.5 didn't love it didn't hate it. I want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for the digital arc in exchange for an honest review.
DFN’d at 30%
I hate DNFing books but I wasn’t enjoying this at all, and one of my new year’s resolutions is to read for fun and not as an obligation.
I will be brief but this book is not what it promised at all. I thought it would be a fun little lighthearted book about a couple getting back together and I find a group of friends uniting to save a building… okay. Also, am I supposed to feel sorry for Freddie and sympathetic towards them? Nope.
The writing was sloppy, the characters unlikable, and the plot uninteresting. I hate to leave such bad reviews but oh well…
Lina and Brown are at the brink of their marriage but can they fake it altogether to show the world that they are still a happily married couple? I loved that Brown kept trying even though Lina couldn't stand him. It shows that you don't give up on the people you love. Second chance romance? You'll have to read it to find out.
I tried to read this book so many times, but I just couldn't get into it. I kept picking it up and struggling to get through it. I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I didn't understand the relationship between Brown and Lina. They didn't seem like they cared about each other at all, and I wasn't rooting for them.
I was intrigued by the plot summary, but nothing in this book was romantic or funny. I don't know how the description compares it to books and authors that I really enjoy. This book is not similar to those books or authors at all, and I don't think it's right to mislead readers with that comparison.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC of this book.
