First I want to say thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This was a quick read with some romcom humor. Lina and Brown are a couple that meet and fall in love while living in this affordable apartment, then they end up getting married and are now in the process of getting a divorce just two years later. When the story turn to trying to save the old building from being torn down, the group of friends that used to live there come back together. The book then moves to basically showing how the friends are working together to save the building and the relationship between Lina and Brown kind of take a backseat.

It was a cute book but did feel very underdeveloped. I was wanting more between Lina and Brown and their relationship. I did like how the book ended as it was not what I was expecting in a small way.

I would definitely read another book by this offer and it was a nice quick, light read.

I tried.

I liked the premise of the book, but it didn't grab me at the beginning. I tried to keep going but couldn't connect with the writing story.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher. Next time!

I love a second-chance romance, especially a marriage in crisis, so I was excited to pick up this book. Fans of marriage in crisis books such as "You Deserve Each Other" and a flipped "How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days" will like this book. This book wasn't a win for me, since this was not a light-hearted, funny, rom com. Instead, the book felt heavy yet underdeveloped and left many issues unresolved.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and author, Jessica Hatch for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review. How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days comes out on February 8, 2023!

Two people in the process of getting a divorce decide to pretend they are still married so that their friends don't find out until after the divorce has been finalized, What could have been a cute story about rediscovering all the things you love about your partner ended up being a convoluted tale about two characters who were not very likable making decisions that made no sense with other other characters who were one dimensional at best, This book wasn't funny (the one attempt at humor involving a Devo reference made me hear a sad trombone) and it wasn't romantic. The flashbacks to them initially falling in love made me question the entire basis for their romance and nothing in the book made me feel better about it.

I would skip this one.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was instantly pulled in by the plot description, but unfortunately it just fell a bit flat for me. Again, I loved the
story line and idea but I wanted so much more from the two main characters, Lina and Brown. I expected
something close to You Deserve Each Other where the couple is fighting or "enemies" but you can still tell they
have undeniable chemistry, in this book I felt like that chemistry and tension was not very strong. There were
some greats moments where the chemistry was obvious, but it needed to be more present throughout the
whole story line.
The plot line regarding the building was at times hard to follow and I sometimes was a bit bored and found
myself having to re-read pages as it felt like it'd be multiple pages of fluff with not much happening. It definitely
was an enjoyable and quick read, I just had higher hopes!

Ok, so it's not Ali Hazelwood or Emily Henry or Christina Lauren, obviously. And as a romcom (as it is advertised) it could have more banter, lightheartedness and humor. Still, this book doesn't deserve such low ratings, as it is quite a solid story about a couple on the verge of divorce, their friends, and their reunion caused by big changes in their life. I really loved the setting and the atmosphere in Jacksonville, it seemed charming and unique. The main character Lina is not one of those you fall in love at once, on the contrary, she is annoying, self-centered, sometimes bitchy, but so relatable because of her tendency to overthink everything, to be honest. Pity, the story is told only from Lina's POV, I would've really appreciated her husband's POV to understand him better. On the whole, there were some funny episodes, some heartfelt moments and I liked the message this story conveys - you have to work to maintain your marriage. 3.5/5

Interesting concept on the book, very strong theme to talk about divorce, The cover gave me a romcom vibe and technically it is but, not sure im not crazy about it . Definitely didn’t hit the mark with me . The flow of the story didn’t feel as well done and Im not expert but it wasn’t just what I expected.

I DNF'd this book. I could not get on with the writing, and from the very start, the writing appears to know what it wants to say, but yet cannot communicate it in an effective way.

Lina recently filed for divorce from husband, Brown. But when their friends come to town, she talks him into pretending to still be together in order to save face.

This book had some promise, but didn’t quite deliver. I love second chance romances, but this one lacked some of the drama that I crave. There was a lot of back and forth with Lina that I didn’t really understand and then the resolution came on a little fast. I also wouldn’t say this was a romcom as there wasn’t a lot of comedy. The side story of trying to save the old building where all the friends had met was cute and I did like most of the characters. Fans of marriage in trouble romance will love this!

DNF at 25%

You know when you're shuffling through channels on the TV, watch a couple of mismatched scenes here and there, but never really get to know what the shows you find are about? That is exactly the pacing of this book.

Author barely sets the scenes, they're hazy and confusing in the way some dreams can be. They change abruptly yet are slow paced most of the time, and the writing didn't do it any favours either.

Writing was... clunky. Adverbs are used often but believe it or not, that wasn't what irked me. It's how it felt detached, unnecessarily vain. It doesn't help making a reader care for the people when there is barely any emotion in the narration. Scenes like the one at the escape room were building up a bit of tension between the two main characters and the friend group... but are discarded so quickly. Why? It's like the sparks between them can't become a fire because the author is on a rush. Slow down, let us readers actually understand what is going on and savour the emotions that are clashing together.

Characters were promising, and so was the synopsis, hence why I'm giving it 1 star at least. The idea was definitely lovely, second chance romances and forced proximity are some of my favourites, but this one... I think it needs a lot of touch ups to be something worth comparing to most romances, especially ones that call themselves hilarious. I feel a bit sad, but oh well.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in advance.

I loved this one, but then I'm sucker for Rom Coms. And this one in many ways reminded me a bit of How to Lose a Guy in Ten days. But in book form.

This was a very sweet second chance romance full of great friendships, funny moments, and even a little betrayal.

Definitely worth the read

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

The title of this book made it sound incredibly interesting, and the blurb makes it seem like the perfect inside-out version of 'How to lose a guy in ten days.' Unfortunately, however, this book just isn't nearly as good as it seems.

The book is made out to be "super funny, just simply hilarious romcom," but there is absolutely no humor in this book. It's just not funny. It's also supposed to be heartwarming, but there was no moment that made my heart swell or even beat a little harder. The book isn't even cute.

The plot feels underdeveloped, but Lina and Brown felt like they were still in the idea phase of writing. The idea is amazing. I personally LOVE fake-dating and especially fake-dating when they're already close (best friends, exes... etc.), but they are in the middle of their divorce, and Lina still dislikes him very much. There are a couple of storylines going at the same time, which didn't really do anything for the bigger-picture plot.

All of my thoughts and ideas are my own. Again, thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I was super excited about receiving this galley because I saw this book advertise a little while ago and it was on my Amazon wishlist for a bit.

Unfortunately this book fell completely short for me. I was expecting a laugh out loud romance comedy and didn’t get any of that. I couldn’t relate to Lina at all and felt that she was a bit obnoxious. I do wish it was a dual POV with her love interest, Brown because from the bit that was presented about him, I liked him more, which says a lot seeing as he didn’t actually have much dialogue in the story. I also felt the friends/side characters in this book to be intolerable and completely intrusive. The synopsis doesn’t really match the plot seeing as most of the plot was really about saving the building they all used to live in and the reunion of the married couple was like a subplot and pretty superficial at most.

I wish I had something positive to say about this book, because I do think there could have been some potential, but because I couldn’t get invested in the story, plot, or any of the characters- it made it a hard read.

It is a super quick read though and you can fly through it within a couple of hours if you’re just looking for a quick read.

Many thanks to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with this arc in exchange for an honest review though!

At first when i heard of this book, i fell in love with the title, cover and blurb. It really sounded like something i would love, but i ended up not liking this. This is my first time reading something by Jessica Hatch and i am willing to give their books a second chance. I found myself checking how close i was to finishing instead of being captured by the story. I felt very disconnected from the characters. Overall there could have been so much potential but the execution was poor.

The story kept my interest, mostly. At the end, though… I really didn’t feel like either one had changed, and the reconnection didn’t really feel deserved. It just needed more.

In all sincerity, Lina had such huge problems with Brown’s cleaning, or lack of, to the point that it was driving her to shut him out. Why didn’t they just hire a cleaning person? It would be $75ish a clean for their house (I live close… we have a cleaner…) and is far cheaper than the dozen emergency therapy appointments she scheduled to talk about it. She’s the breadwinner. She’s making good money from the sound of it. I realize that’s not an interesting book, but Lina is so analytical and down to earth that it just makes no sense that she didn’t think of that. So this was a weird area of suspended disbelief for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

I'm really sorry but this book just didn't work for me. And I so wanted it to because it sounded like something I would love. However I didn't like the writing style and I just couldn't get into it. I didn't really care for the characters ot the storyline.

I love second chance romance, but this was just not the book for me. The premise was exciting, but I didn't connect with any of the characters and had zero interest in them getting back together. And the humour generally felt like it was trying too hard. It was a real slog to get through unfortunately!

I really adore books that have second-chance romances in them. So when I found out about How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days , I was really excited to read it. It sounded like something that I would really enjoy. But unfortunately, that wasn't really the case. Personally the writing style wasn't a favourite; it was a lot more tell than show and it was visible in the writing. The dialogues also felt a bit stilted and felt more like robotic lines being recited from a script. I only really found myself invested in the book in the last quarter. I really had to push through to get there.

All in all, I think what this books needs is a little more editing to reduce the 'tell' aspect and highlight the 'show' aspect. Otherwise, the plot and everything is fine as are the characters.

I was not a fan of this story unfortunately. The cover and blurb were very much giving light hearted romcom but there was nothing cute about this story. This was my first read by this author so I was pumped to read it but I struggled to finish this book. This book was not worth the read and I won't be recommending it to anyone.
