This just wasn't for me. Thank you netgalley & the publisher for the ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

The plot wasn’t particularly exciting and sadly, the main characters Lina and Brown were under-written. I found them unreal and unappealing, The other characters seemed to get more page time than they did.

What a wonderful, light hilarious romantic drama to brighten up my day.
Finding out if you were just a bit too hasty in giving up on your marriage is the theme of How to keep a Husband for Ten Days.
Can love be found again? The main characters, Lina and Brown, have a lot to work out as they pretend to still be married to their friends.
You will need to pick this book up to see how things play out.
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The synopsis is about this couple whose marriage is in trouble sounded interesting, it was a second chance romance but as I started reading the book, the sudden appearance of the side characters and the slow pace was leading me to get less and less interested.
I'm going to start off by being very honest, I did not like the writing style because it wasn't very engaging and the dialogues between the characters felt very off beat to me. I usually give a book at least 5 chapters before I decide to dnf or continue reading. I really tired to read beyond chapter 9 but I just couldn’t

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review

Wow. What a book, what a plot, what a great idea. I instantly fell in love with Lina and Brown. I was rooting for them, the ENTIRE BOOK, how could they, a couple so in love, have distanced so much?

I couldn't put this down. I was absolutely hooked, and desperate to figure out the end, I was just hoping for a happy ending.

Thank you Netgalley for this eARC!

After reading the description for this book, I had high hopes for this being a cute romance book. This book was okay, but didn’t really live up to my expectations. It also wasn’t a ‘hilarious’ romcom as advertised, though it still had some funny moments.

I found most characters, but especially the main character Lina, to be annoying and kind of flat. There is a lot of miscommunication going on between everyone, which is definitely not my favourite trope, but next to that some characters were just unnecessarily mean to each other.

The idea was good, but the writing could have been better. However, there were still some cute and heartwarming parts that I enjoyed reading about.

Liked and hated this! the first part was promising but the story felt flat towards the end. Characters weren’t explored that much and the friendship bond that was present throughout the book felt fake. The chemistry was undeniable between the leads but it wasn’t enough to save the book. Thanks for the publisher for providing me an arc!

How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days by J. Hatch, published by Bookouture is a stand-alone romance novel.
Lina and Brown are married for just two years, but now they're about to part ways. When old friends show up, Lina cooks up a harebrained plan to pretend they're still together. Makes sense?? No, it doesn't. And to top it off and what me had me confusing the most referring to a secondary character as " they ". Pretty woke-ish and pretty not makes me want to read it.
A slow burn and nothing much happens except the h discovers she still loves the H, warts and all.
The H, Brown is the true maincharacter. He is a saint for keepinjg up with his annoying wife, for taking her back - I call it a miracle and I truly adore him for that. Not my fav -3,5 Stars.

I despise Lina in this book. It's not often I end up hating a FMC, but good God is she not only annoying, but she's a fucking bitch. Brown deserves so much better than her. I hated that this entire thing was from her point of view, because she is not worth rooting for AT ALL.

The pace is way too rushed through the book, the flashbacks are completely unnecessary, and I hated how prose heavy the first few chapters are in introducing the entirety of the characters.

The dialogue is choppy and stilted and this book is still in need of editing.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for a review.

Definitely a bit disappointed with this book. The synopsis had me so excited for this book and I thought it would be amazing when it ended up being mediocre. I also think this book didn’t match its cute, funny, romcom cover. It’s not very humorous even though it’s marketed as such. I wasn’t a big fan of the writing style nor the slow pace of this book. I honestly did not like Lina at all. I understand that she was struggling but the way she acted majority of the time was annoying and unnecessary. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this book.

This was such a disappointing read. I had really high hopes for this, based on the title - How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days is one of my favorite movies. This book, unfortunately, was boring and predictable. None of the characters were likable and Brown (what kind of name is that?) had zero personality or substance whatsoever. Lina was all around awful. There were some fun parts such as the hurricane party, but overall this fell flat for me. Thank you NG for this eARC!

This book was okay, but I thought it plodded a bit. I found myself skipping sections, so it is hard to write a full review. That being said, I did like it better than some of the other reviewers and give it 3 stars. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy for this honest review.

This book got me out of a reading slump!! I absolutely adored How to Keep a Husband for Ten Days. It has everything you’d ever want in a romance novel.

This was cute but ultimately not really for me. There was nothing that kept me wanting to get through the book and it was honestly a bit of a struggle to read. Probably would not recommend this one.

Super quick read at under 300 pages.

Lena and Brown are getting divorced but they have not told anyone. Now that her friend is in town she needs her soon to be ExHusband to play along and act like they are still married.

I fee like the title of the book. Brown and her pretending to be married took back burner to the plot of saving her old apartment building. I didn’t feel like it start focusing on that until 80% or the book.

Was it still a good book? Yes. Is it a spicy? No. It still has a cute plot and love story between her and brown since it bounces back between present and 2020.

I also got married during the pandemic so I loved the pandemic wedding. ♥️

Jessica Hatch has done it again!! I was so engrossed in each page, and I couldn’t wait to find out what was happening next!

I loved that not only was this a story about two people finding their way back to each other, but that it also involved helping the community. I love books that have such a well-knit friend group, and this book definitely had it.

Just like in her last book, I adore how Jessica had a female MC who was quirky. She was different, and I loved her for it. I saw a lot of myself inside her too.

And i’ve said it before, and i’ll say it again — I LOVEEEEE second chance romances, and this one was done in such a beautiful and realistic way, it will stay in my heart forever.

Everyone should pick up this book. What a wonderful read!

The cover is so cute and I love the title. I enjoyed this book and really liked Brown, I did find Lina slightly irritating and it annoyed me how so many of the issues in their relationship could have been resolved by just talking.

The side characters were also a bit annoying and considering how close the friends were supposed to be, it seemed strange to me that you’d hide your divorce. I did appreciate the inclusion of a non-binary character as this is something I haven’t seen very often.

Overall, a fine story but not one I’d be running back to read.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love a cute, lighthearted rom-com, but I struggled with this one. I really couldn't find a chemistry between Lina and Brown that made me root for them to be together (if anything, I was rooting for Brown to find a better match). I am all about addressing larger social issues in entertainment because that helps them become more mainstream and well-discussed. However, I felt like it was done clumsily in this story.

Lina wants to save some low income apartments from being turned into yet another high end building, for personal reasons as well as to help people who need cheaper housing. Problem is, she’s in the middle of a divorce and doesn’t want to bring down the mood of her friends or be ostracized if they prefer her significant other. Solution: pretend none of that’s happening and save the building alongside soon-to-be-ex-husband!

To be honest, Lina is a real jerk and it's no surprise she's getting a divorce. I love Brown, he's easy going and sweet and deserves more than Lina. But I guess the heart wants what it wants. 🙄

One of the largest problems I had with this book is Freddie. I understand people are trying to squeeze in new types of characters, to go with inclusivity and all that…but come on. Here are the descriptions I got in order:

*Author uses they/them/their pronouns
*has long blonde braids
*maintenance worker for an apartment building
*"tall, lanky, dark-skinned person who should have been moonlighting as a model
*Freddie claims pronouns are he/they (what does that even mean and wouldn't that mean there would be he/him/his interchangeably in there as well?)
*Purple and blue parachute pants

What’s happening here? What am I even looking at?? Just because a woman decides to go by he/him and dress in a masculine way, doesn’t negate that “he” has a feminine body type. As a reader, I need a better description of what I’m looking at. Is it a masculine body type but he’s lanky and likes to have long braided hair?

This is why the “they/them” pronouns don’t have a place in literature outside of being used in a plural sense. There’s no way to pull it off without sounding confusing and sending the reader back multiple times to see who we’re talking about. Are you talking about they as in him with the braids or they as in multiple people?

Anyways…this book was all about the liberal agenda, so if that’s your cup of tea, by all means, read to your hearts content. But be warned, there is little to no humor here!

I received this book as a ARC and was so excited to get started reading this book. Unfortunately, I wasn't a big fan of the book. I feel that it was very chopping and very hard to follow. I would find myself having to reread portions because I was unsure of how we got to the point in the story or I was very confused by what was happening. I also wasn't a huge fan of Lina and Brown. They kept just making me mad. I usually find that one character within in a story I have a connection with and fall in love with their story-I didn't fall in love with any of the characters. I think it was a cute plot line but execution fell short for me.
