Freida never disappoints!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this just like every other Freida book I’ve read! This is just a fun series and I’m glad we get to continue to see Millie’s journey. This was filled with tons of twists and action. I was invested the entire time! Will we get another in this series? I hope so!
Thoughts : Such a plot twist 😩 if it wasn’t Millie then who did it ? 😳
Review : The first few chapters felt like a slow burn . There was nothing really happening and Millie came back different this time. I kept reading and reading waiting to see what Millie was going to do but I did not expect this twist. If Millie didn’t do it then who else did . I was so determined that Nico did it but I was wrong . Who really did it had me mind blown.
If you haven’t read The Housemaid and The Housemaid Secret please go ahead and do so because this book is so good you can’t put it down like the other two.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I just love these books! I love this little world that Freida crafts, and I just love these characters. I always feel like I know when all the twists and turns will be and Frieda always just takes me on the perfect ride. Her books are just so easy to read and so quick to get through, and I really couldn't as for much more with her books overall.
I could read a billion of these books and never get bored.
Millie is in a bad place. The love of her life, Enzo, has moved back to Italy to take care of his sick mother with no idea when and if he will return. She has been dating Brock, a wealthy, handsome attorney but see can't see it working out long-term. Then there is her employment problem. It's hard for Millie to get a job that doesn't ask for references as her resume includes a prison stretch for murder when she was younger. She works as a housemaid for wealthy people and depends on word of mouth to get jobs.
Her latest employers have something weird going on. Douglas Garrick is a tech wizard and a billionaire from his inventions. He hires Millie and gives her a written list of all she should do, including cooking dinner with specified meal plan. His main requirement is that she does not bother his wife who is ill and recuperating in a guest bedroom. He tells Millie that his wife needs constant rest.
But is that true? When Millie has to interrupt the wife's rest for an emergency, she is shocked to find that the wife's face is covered in bruises as if she was just severely beaten. She is much thinner than the pictures around the house, skeletal at best. What exactly is going on? After a few weeks, the wife confides in Millie that Douglas is abusing her and asks for Millie's help. Millie has been helping women in her position for a long time and that word of mouth is going around as well.
Millie agrees and the two women get the wife away from New York and to a remote farm owned by a friend that Douglas knows nothing about. But somehow he finds her and returns her to the city. Before Millie can come up with another plan, Douglas is dead and Millie is the prime suspect. Can she convince the police with her record that she's innocent?
Freida McFadden is known for her psychological thrillers. She is a practicing physician so the medical storylines are accurate. There are tons of twists and turns that the reader won't see coming. Millie will win readers' hearts with her willingness to help others and her determination not to take second best when it comes to romance. This is the second in the series but I read it without reading the first and didn't feel lost at all. This book is recommended for mystery readers.
This one just didn’t do it for me. I enjoyed The Housemaid but this sequel just felt forced. It needs to end.
A great follow up to The Housemaid. This author keeps you in suspense the whole time as always. I don’t want to give too much away since it’s book two, but don’t miss it!!

The Garrick family is wealthy, powerful, and they seem to have everything. However, as the plot unravels, we discover that the Garricks have their own secrets. Douglas Garrick, in particular, has committed heinous crimes, and the housemaid is on a mission to bring him to justice. What sets The Housemaid’s Secret apart from other books in the thriller genre is its emphasis on the main character’s personal growth. McFadden does an excellent job of exploring the protagonist’s inner turmoil, and we get to see her evolve as she takes on the challenge of taking down a corrupt and abusive man. It is empowering to witness the housemaid take charge and use her intelligence to get the upper hand.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.
Freida McFadden you have done it again! Every time I pick up one of your books I’m floored at your creativity. I picked The Housemaid’s Secret up not knowing what to expect after the ending of The Housemaid. This book truly took me away, and is definitely one of my top 3 favorites! The amount of twists really had me scratching my head, the ending had me shocked, honestly. I am floored, and ready for the next release!
Enjoyed this intriguing thriller written in the author’s trademark style. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this ARC.
Freida did not disappoint with the sequel to the Housemaid. The anticipation was worth the wait! Her fast paced writing and "never guess it" twists make her writing a go to. I can not wait for the third installment of this series!
I enjoyed this book, and my rating of 3 stars does not mean it was bad. I am a tough grader. 3 stars means I enjoyed the book, but was not blown away. I will read the third one as well. If I can figure out the twist the rating is a 3 and I did for this book. Usually Freida stumps me!
Freida McFadden does it again. I read "The Housemaid" in two days and the second book is no different. "The Housemaid's Secret" is full of twists and I would highly recommend if you like domestic thrillers and a quick read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital arc in exchange for my review.
Freida Mcfadden is fast becomming one of my go to authors. Her books tend to be twisty, suspensful and end with a jaw dropping twist. This book was no different! I absolutely loved the housemaid, one of my favourite books of the year.. This book is a sequel to the first and follows our same favourite character, Millie. The prologue had me gripped and I was eager to find out what was 'really' going on.
Whilst I loved this book, it does follow a very similar format to the first, which makes it somehwat easier when guessing what is going on. The plot is ridiulous in parts but this is actually what a lot of Freida fans love. Suspend belief and you';ll really enjoy this!
I absolutely loved this book! I was ready for the twists after reading The Housemaid and I love that we had Millie & Enzo together. Frieda knows how to hook you and keep you reading nonstop til the end!!!
The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden is a thrilling page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story follows the life of a housemaid, who is desperately trying to keep her past a secret. Her employer, the Garrick family, provides her with a sense of normalcy and stability, but when she hears crying and discovers blood on Mrs. Garrick’s nightgowns, her world is turned upside down.
The main character’s inner conflict is expertly portrayed by McFadden. She is constantly struggling between doing what is right and staying silent. As the story progresses, her motives become clearer, and readers can see that she has a dark past. The housemaid is determined to protect Mrs. Garrick, and in doing so, she risks exposing herself.

Frieda McFadden has fast and furiously become one of my favorite authors to read when I’m looking for something twisty and fast paced.
This was a great follow up to The Housemaid. At first I wasn’t sure how the stories would connect but it worked.
Great read!
The House Maid’s Secret. What an amazing suspense story. Millie was absolutely unbelievable good. Her story was told through her eyes and oh my gosh this girl has seen and done a lot. I so thought the the plot was going this way, but hold up there’s another plot.
The plot thickens so much in this book, it potentially becomes a nail biter in the end. The ending was a slam dunk on how to a good book. But the story of how Ms. Whilomena landed where she currently resides weaves a story that you couldn’t think that a young innocent girl like Whilomena could be involved in. I new something was intriguing about a young girl alone walking the streets of the Bronx by herself at night. Brock please straighten up.
I still have hope for you. The characters were brilliant. I absolutely loved the amazing writing and the entertainment. I give this story two snaps and a, whispering tone, “Wendy don’t turn around.” Until next time my fellow readers. Read on!
I really enjoyed Millie's next chapter in her life
Yet again Frieda gets you again with a fantastic twist at the end
Keep writing Frieda
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Freida McFadden for an advance copy of The Housemaids Secret in exchange for an honest review. I must’ve forgot to write this review but holy smokes- FREIDA DOES IT AGAIN! It’s hard to say anything without giving away details but just know that Freida takes the reader on a ride full of whiplash. As always, I love how she fills her books with twists and turns that have me questioning everything until the end. This one is out now and definitely deserves a home on your bookshelf!
I had waited for this book since I finished the last page of The housemaid. I flew through this, there was nothing I would change besides I still want more! Frieda can do no wrong.
