Freida does it again…. my mind has been blown. This book is beautifully twisted and devious, filled with all of the jaw dropping moments we have come to expect from this fantastic author.
I loved that this book is a continuation in Millie’s story, she is a character that you just can’t help but root for even when she gets herself into the most precarious situations! I sincerely hope that we get more from Millie in the future!
If you loved The Housemaid or if you are a thriller fan, do yourself a favour and get your hands on this book! You’ll read it in one sitting, guaranteed!
If I could give this a million stars, I would. Freida did it again. Dare I say better than The Housemaid?? She doesn’t stop with the constant action and twists and omg moments. She has out done herself!
The Housemaid’s Secret- Freida McFadden
There is just something about a Freida book that pulls you in. If you haven’t read her huge first bestseller The Housemaid you better grab it and buckle down for the ride. I recently got chosen to review The Housemaid’s Secret and I eagerly waited for the countdown (I suggest following Freida’s group on FB) and was so excited when I got picked out of thousands to review this one early. I always get a little giddy and just want to tell random strangers that I got picked to read a ARC. Most people don’t even get my excitement. This one follows Millie from the first book and she’s moved on to a new family to work for this time in the city. Life has improved for her but slowly things start to unravel. Who is following her? Why doesn’t her new boss’s wife doesn’t come out of her room? Pretty soon Millie is wrapped up in more ways then one. Freida is notorious for endings you never see coming and this was no exception. I very much enjoyed my time again in Millie’s world. My only wish was I would have liked to see some closure or even an appearance from Nina Winchester from the previous book.
I am sure this will skyrocket into the stores and do just as well as her first book did. A huge congratulations to @fmcfaddenauthor for another perfect thriller!
As always thank you to the publisher, @fmcfaddenauthor and @netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

I recently devoured The Housemaid by Freida McFadden and was thrilled to get the ARC for the sequel! This one definitely needs to be read after reading The Housemaid and not as a standalone, or you will be missing a ton of important background.
Millie is back, cleaning the homes of the ultra rich in New York. After being fired from a job, she is desperate to find another position where her background check won’t be used against her in the hiring process. Enter the Garricks, who own a penthouse apartment in the city. Strangely, Mrs. Garrick never comes out of the bedroom. Something feels off to Millie, and Millie is not someone to leave that feeling alone.
This book packs a crazy punch in the ending just as The Housemaid did, but it felt a bit more predictable and the writing felt less polished to me than the first one. The first half was full of so much repetition that I was struggling to get through. Luckily, we got another POV in the second half and the story just barreled along to the twisty ending. I liked seeing the same events from two different points of view. The book is a fast paced and fun popcorn read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
What an absolutely awesome book! There were such great twists that I didn't see coming and the way it all came together was just outstanding! Awesome read! Thank you!!
This is a great book, I don’t think it’s quite as good as the original Housemaid book but then we don’t have quite as much shock factor in this one, don’t get me wrong it still has a huge twist that you don’t see coming but it wasn’t as full on as in the first book. I read this in two days as I just had to find out how it ended.
I love the character development of Enzo and Millie. A great book but definitely read The Housemaid first.
I truly enjoy Freida McFadden's writing/books! This was my third read of hers and the second book after the fantastic book Housemaid! so needless to say I was THRILLED to be approved. This one blew my mind. I read it in a day and could NOT put it down. Twists without letup, characters devious, deranged, lying or passionate – who can you believe? Everyone has their version of the truth and you will not see the end coming. This one in ways outdoes the first book!
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this ARC
Housemaids Secret
Thank you so much to bookoutoure for inviting me to read an early copy of the follow up to Freida McFaddens much talked about book, The Housemaid! I absolutely loved that book and flew through it, shocked at every twist, and then when I heard there was a sequel, I was slightly hesitant. I wasn’t sure if it would work, well it does!! I think I may have liked this one more than the first! I stayed up way too late reading this, unable to fall asleep until I knew what Millie was going to do!
Millie is back and she finds work with an extremely wealthy family, the Garrick’s, working in their stunning penthouse in NYC, while also working towards her college degree. The husband seems genuine and nice, but the wife has herself locked up in the guest room with “chronic illness”. Millie seems to accept this, until she hears crying and she can’t help but check on Wendy Garrick. When she finds her with bruises and blood everywhere, she knows she cannot walk away from this. Millie vows to help her get away from her husband. And then part 2 comes!! 😰 I cannot give anything else away, because it is truly shocking! I am telling you there were so many twists I lost count, and they weren’t just small things! And then as I think the book is wrapping up nicely, here she comes with another bomb! All I can say is, if you are one of the few holding out on reading The Housemaid, pick it up now! And get ready for a wild ride! Then pick this up on February 20th!
Freida is at the top of the psychological thriller game, and this is one top notch read. Very hard to put down.
Thank goodness I was fortunate to have this book as an advanced copy I didn’t want to wait ! This author is at the peak of her game brilliant writing with twists and shocks throughout . Gripping !
Following Millie’s journey into her next stage of life, this sequel to The Housemaid left me wanting more but also satisfied with the ending. Millie is the epitome of woman empowerment. Her housekeeping career continues on normally, until she suspects Mrs. Garrick is being abused. The twists are, as always, unpredictable and the chapters are short which makes it an easy read. Highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a good mystery or an easy entertaining read!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for review!
Thank you to Freida McFadden, Bookoture publishing, and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my review.
This is a sequel to The Housemaid, so if you have not read that book then I suggest reading that one first or this one will not make much sense.
Freida McFadden does it again! I typically do not like sequels in thrillers, but this one was done exceptionally well. The story is well written and a fast paced suspense thriller just like the first. The story follows along with Millie again and her being a housemaid to a rich couple, the Douglas'. The characters in this story are complex and fully developed, especially Millie and Wendy. There are several plot twists through out the book that make you want to keep reading.
There were some issues that I had with the book. My first issue was Millie's relationship with Brock, and how many times she kept saying she was going to tell him what happened in her past but then never does and just strings him along. It wasn't the fact that she does it, because that felt in character for her, but it was the receptiveness of how much it was talked about it in the book that made me think it was just filler.
My other issue was the actual ending of the book. Without giving away what happened, it felt almost like a cop out. I liked the book up until Part 4 of the book and what happens in the cabin and in the epilogue. It just felt to "neat" of a wrap up that I don't think was very plausible.
My rating for this book is technically a 3.75 stars however for the sake of the review I rounded it up to 4. I do recommend this book if you have read the first and liked it.
Outstanding!! Freida has done it again!! A wild ride of twists and turns you won't see coming. If you loved the Housemaid, this is one book where the sequal may be even better than the first! Thank you Freida for giving us these amazing books that we think we can figure out and then, nope, not even close!!!
Absolutely amazing, Frieda you did it again!!! The storyline did not disappoint at all. The twist is there and I didn't fully see it coming. My hope is that you will write a 3rd in this series.
Another gripping book from this author who is fast becoming one of my favourites. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end, so many twists and turns, just brilliant and the characters were all so well described.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.
The Housemaid's Secret
Loved this story!! @fizzziatrist has definitely smashed this sequel out of the park! And in classic Freida style, just as you think you've got it all figured out she throws a huge curveball!.
The story follows on from the first book, The Housemaid, and again centres around Millie, a cleaner/housemaid with a reputation for getting things done. This time she finds herself working for the Garricks, a wealthy family who own a gothic penthouse but she quickly realises that Mrs Garrick might need help of a different kind.
The Housemaid's Secret isn't out until 20th February but you can preorder vour copy now
Amazing!! I absolutely love and no longer assume I’m gonna no the ending , her twists are incredible and always a shocker! Stop what you’re doing , and purchase download or listen to this book, well of course if you’ve read the first one already !
Freida, you’ve done it again. I am absolutely mind blown with the plot twists of this book. One right after another and that is no exaggeration. I read this right after The Housemaid so the main character, Millie, was fresh in my mind, along with her history. I could not put this book down, I had to know what was going to happen. I applaud Millie for her independence and her strong will to help women in need and can absolutely see why she was not suspecting Wendy to be the bad guy. I love that she and Enzo ended up together in the end. I loved the final plot twist when I found out she supplied Marybeth with the Digoxin. I was feeling so bad for Millie thinking how will she get herself out of this? But that was the final hoorah and I loved, loved, loved it. I thoroughly enjoy Freida’s writing style and I cannot wait to read more from her in the future. I ended 2022 with two of the best books I’ve read all year and could not be happier with that.

THANK YOU NETGALLEY!!! It all started with The Housemaid and ever since, I've been addicted to Freida McFadden's books. When I had the opportunity to read this one, I was thrilled and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was amazed! It was truly a thriller, I could not put down. The twists and turns were unbelievable and so unexpected. Have way through the book, I thought, what else can possibly happen. It follows the story of Millie, The Housemaid in an amazing way. It's highly recommended, you'll be hooked!
I feel like this series falls on the cozy side of thrillers. There isn't anything complex to the story, but it is a fun, and enjoyable read. I'm torn about Millie as a character. I like her, but then I also don't like her. That makes it kind of hard to be rooting for her at times. Still an entertaining read and I look forward to the next installment.
