The second in the housemaid installment had the potential to be another jaw droppingly twisted thriller. I enjoyed this read though, an easy binge.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sequel to The Housemaid, yes please! I loved The Housemaid. Truth is, I have loved most of Freida McFadden's books. They usually have all the things I love in a thriller and The Housemaid's Secret is no exception. While I wasn't as captivated with this as I was with The Housemaid, I still devoured this book in about a day. I started it late yesterday evening and finished today because I was dying to know what would happen with Millie, again. Stupid choices aside, I just love Millie! You can't help but root for her! As with most of Freida's books, this one didn't lack for twists, maybe not as shocking as some of her others, and certainly not as shocking as The Housemaid, but I was still left so surprised and reeling at some revelations.

This is my first ever ARC so I'm new to this. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to point out errors, but it is an advanced copy that, hopefully, has yet to have final edits completed. This book is due out in February. I'm not one to get hung up on typos (come on, it happens), but I didn't notice any in this book. The big things I noticed was that 2 different characters were given 2 different names at various times. Olive/Olivia and Detective Ramirez/Benito Rodriguez. I'm sure that as with many authors, some characters have "filler" names and this will be corrected prior to official release.

All in all, another winner for me and Freida continues to be the queen of twists in my eyes!!

Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid’s Secret. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn’t read it fast enough. For those who read Freida’s books you know there are twists and turns everywhere. Well, these twists left my jaw on the floor. If you thought The Housemaid was as good, you are in for a HUGE treat! Millie is about to take you on a ride! Enjoy!

First I want to say a huge thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and of course Freida McFadden (Im sorry...I admit, I am infact not a marshmallow-iykyk-😅) for this ARC edition of The Housemaid's Secret, I was beyond excited to be granted early access as I LOVED The Housemaid and was super excited when this one was announced!

I loved this book so much! Its nearly been a year since I first read The Housemaid and went on one wild adventure with Millie but it still pops in my head from time to time so imagine my suprise when I was approved to read this ARC! In this story we're back with Millie and her need to save women in peril, but this time things are different and everything is not really as it seems. When Millie begins working for the Garricks she quickly discovers that Mrs. Garrick needs her help, and fast! Once Millie learns of this she goes into action and gets Wendy safely out but she soon learns that that just wasnt enough as Wendy is now back in the home of her abuser, or is she? As Millie finishes up her last day on the job she hears a commotion and runs to Wendy's rescue. Once Millie is sure Wendy is safe she leaves with an understanding that this "didnt happen" but soon learns that she was fed lies and that money really can make people do some evil deeds and now Millie must gather the evidence to clear her own name and this needs to happen fast...before she goes back to prison.

I've given this book a 5☆ rating. Its definitely in my top 5 favorite books and Im so happy it was my first read of 2023!

Please be sure to check out The Housemaid's Secret in February 2023, you'll definitely be on the edge of your seat with this one!

This is the sequel to THE HOUSEMAID which was a 5⭐ read for me, and this one is right up there too. Another captivating, suspenseful, and twisty thriller. Couldn't put it down.

Millie has taken a job cleaning for Douglas Garrick in his gorgeous penthouse in the city. He tells her not to open the guest room door ever, because his wife is very I'll. As she's working she swears something sinister must be going on. She hears things, and sees things. I do not want to say much because I don't want to spoil it for you, but I will say that insanity pursues! If you feel like the beginning is slow, I promise, it 100% picks up. What a awesome and entertaining book. I will say to read these books is order though. Both are excellent and you'll be happy you did.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. Comes out February 20.

Is it possible for a sequel to be better? This book was SO good. You will not see all of the twists and turns coming. I could not turn the pages fast enough. Freida never disappoints. This book was EPIC!

Millie is back and she is in full force. I will not say too much, but she has been busy this whole time. She definitely pulls out quite a few surprises.

I was so happy as I read and saw various parts and POV’s. This really brought the story full circle.

Her new job proves to be quite challenging and maddening. Can she handle this job? Will she be able to find a solution?

Be ready to pull an all nighter and be on the edge of your seat the whole time.

I was so so excited to be excepted to read The Housemaids Secret, I'm a big fan of Frieda Mcfadden and this book was just an unputdownable read I absolutely loved it and what an ending. I was just so gobsmacked.

Freida did it again! I loved this book and couldn’t put it down! So many twists and turns! I never saw the ending coming!!!

Millie is a house cleaner, part time student and unintentional vigilante. In this book she has a new boyfriend, is back in school to become a social worker and is cleaning houses to make rent. When she gets fired by no fault of her own, she must find a new job quickly. That isn’t easy with her criminal record. When she gets a call from a wealthy CEO it seems as if her problems are solved. Turns out all her old issues are just following her.

I loved The Housemaid and I was ecstatic to find out there would be a follow up book. Many times sequels are a let down, but this one absolutely did justice to the first book. I love Millie’s character, McFadden’s writing style, and those little unexpected twists that I just revel in! I highly recommend this book!

OMG-what have I just read?!?! I adored The Housemaid but did wonder how the author would be able to write another book featuring Millie and for it still to shock but SHE DID IT!! The Housemaid's Secret is a twisty and thoroughly entertaining read that kept me guessing till the very last page!
Millie is a brilliant character creation who definitely had more to give from her previous appearance in The Housemaid so it was intriguing to see where she had taken her new found found “talents” after her last employment. Things have changed for her but not in a positive way. Sacked from her latest job, she manages to land on her feet again working in an upmarket penthouse for a very strange couple. Douglas and Wendy seem to live separate lives with Wendy sleeping in her room most days and Douglas advising Millie not to speak to his wife. But one day Millie defies her instructions and let’s her instincts run free to discover a shocking secret…
Nothing is as it seems here and it was so easy to just sit back and enjoy the ride with Millie! There were twists and turns galore and just when you think you’re done, another one comes along to slap you in the face! Just incredible! I didn’t think Freida McFadden could do it again but she pulled it up perfectly.
Highly recommended!

I became a huge fan of Freida McFadden after reading The Housemaid so was excited to read this one. And, while it was good I felt it was a little flat compared to the first in the series.

Millie has taken another job cleaning houses. Douglas Garrick seems decent, and their penthouse is beyond gorgeous. He tells Millie that his wife is ill and that she isn't to be disturbed. But, as the plot develops Millie can't help but wonder why she never sees Mrs. Garrick. And what are the noises she hears? And why does she hear crying? When Millie finally sees Mrs. Garrick she realizes that Douglas is a monster. What is she willing to do to help?

The first half of the book I found a little slow but then it picked up. I still enjoyed the first book more but this was a solid read and will keep me a fan ready to read more.

From Freida McFadden, author of 'The Housemaid', this sequel is another gripping and clever psychological thriller. Although it follows the same character Millie, it isn't essential to have read 'The Housemaid' (although why not, its a fantastic read!)

While studying, Millie works as a housemaid for rich and spoilt clients. With a murky past and a sideline in helping rich and abused women escape their husbands, Millie finds herself working for charming and ultra rich Douglas Garrick. In his penthouse suite, a closed door hides his wife Wendy, who he explains is suffering from a mysterious illness and should be left alone. When Millie catches a glimpse of Wendy, she realises that Garrick might not be all he seems and that Wendy may need her help. But its not possible to know what really goes on behind closed doors and Millie is going to find out the hard way.

This book has such a clever narrative that truly grips and engages, achieved through different character perspectives of the same events. I love this kind if boom where original perceptions are turned on their head as the narrative unravels and I felt that this was very cleverly achieved by the author once again.

It is difficult to to give more detail about the characters without giving away key details but I can wholeheartedly recommend this book to entertain, enthrall and engage any reader.

Thank you so much to the author Frieda McFadden, Bookouture and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book prepublication.

Thank you NetGalley, bookouture, and Freida McFadden, for giving me an advance eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. The Housemaid was one of the first few books I read this year, and I loved it so much. Its sequel will be released on February 20, 2023.
The Housemaid Secret is the sequel to The Housemaid. In this story, Millie starts to work with the Garricks because she just lost her job as a babysitter. During Douglas and Millie’s first meeting, Millie felt that something was wrong because he kept insisting that she should not bug his wife. After all, “she is very ill.” Throughout several occasions that she had to clean and cook for the family, she felt that she had to figure out what was going on and would not stop until she found out what it was.
The Housemaid was one of the first few books I read this year, and I loved it so much. Its sequel will be released on February 20, 2023. I devoured these two books in one sitting, omg. The first few chapters made me mad with Millie because of her repetitive lines and want to butt in with everything. I mean, I understand it because that’s how she is, but at the same time, I was thinking: “Can you stop and focus on yourself?” Then I started making a couple of theories about the plot, and I guessed two of them. BUT I THOUGHT I HAD IT ALL AND WAS THE END OF IT. I was wrong!!! It’s just every chapter; there’s a new shocking twist that unfolds. Overall, this is an excellent quick read!

Wow! Absolutely riveting! I couldn’t put this book down! Once again Freida McFadden knocks it put of the ball park. This is a sequel to the Housemaid although you don’t have to read the first book. This is about a housemaid, a multi millionaire tech guru, and his wife. The wife is getting physically abused by her husband and Millie steps in the help. I don’t want to give any spoilers. Just read it! You won’t be disappointed. I gobbled this book up in two days and couldn’t wait to find out the ending! So good!

Frieda McFadden writes on a level that brings a whole new reading experience. Housemaid secrets is a terrific follow up to The Housemaid, the twist are suspenseful and edgy. Just when you think you have it figured out, bam it’s not what you were thinking at all. I love that this author writes in a way that you don’t exactly figure the plot out, I love the surprise of confusion, thinking you know how it’ll end and Your completely wrong.

W O W!!!! OH MY GOOOOOODDDD!!!! WHAT DID I JUST READ????? THE NEURONS ARE FIRING LIKE CRAZY IN MY BRAIN RIGHT NOW!! Sounds like fireworks!! (And it is New Year’s Eve after all !!) HAHA What a wild ride that was!!! I didn’t think Freida could possibly top the Housemaid (which is pretty much my favourite book), but she ACTUALLY REALLY DID!!!

Okay firstly, you must read The Housemaid first even though this is a standalone book, but it’ll be more enjoyable for you if you do as you’ll appreciate having the background knowledge. This book had everything that Freida is a master at giving us!!!! That being: totally relatable characters, a crazy and unique story, shocking twists and turns galore, tons of humour and a book that just flies by so much so that you literally CANNOT put it down because you just HAVE to know what’s going to happen next!! How many books can do that??? NOT MANY TRUST ME!!! So be prepared to get absolutely no work done in your house or office, because everything else will literally be put on the back burners whilst you get sucked into this whirlwind of a STELLAR BOOK!!

I don’t want to give any spoilers away AT ALL, because I was one of the very lucky people who received an ARC in exchange, for my honest opinion, so I’m just going to tell you that do believe all the hype because this REALLY is as good as everyone is saying!!!
⭐️ 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 5/5 100% A+ !!!

Thank you Freida McFadden, Netgalley and Bookcouture for your generosity to so many of us lucky readers, BTW I will still totally be buying the paperback as soon as it comes out in February so that I can add it to my collection!!

PS Hollywood: YOU MUST turn The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s Secret into a movie for us!!! It will be a total blockbuster I promise you!!
