Another great read! Freida is my go to author. I have recommend every single book of hers to family and friends. Every single book is a hit and i am able to finish the book in one sitting.
A great popcorn style thriller! This book is fast paced, fun and twisty and it’s addicting and unputdownable. Just when I thought I had things figured out, McFadden shocked me with brilliant twists and turns. This sequel doesn't exactly continue from the end of the first novel, but provides enough of context to help us bridge to the events of this book. Though this can work as a standalone, I recommend you read the series in order
I really enjoyed the first book in this series, The Housemaid. I will be honest, when I first starting reading this book it did not flow well and I wasn’t sure if I would like it. However, the book picked up quick and turned out to be really good. Millie has just gotten a job for a wealthy family as a maid. The gig seems too good the be true. She is making a lot of money and the house is easy to clean because it is barely lived in. Odd things start happening and Millie try’s to figure out what is going on. Is she getting herself into something she can’t get out of? I highly recommend both The Housemaid and The Housemaid’s secret. #bookreview #bookrecommendations #thrillerbooks
I absolutely love this author's work. Millie is one of my most favourite female characters ever and it was so good to be reunited with her after The Housemaid. This time round, Millie has herself a tasty new boyfriend who adores her and is really keen to settle down. After losing her job, she takes another working for the Garrick's, a couple rich beyond Millie's wildest dreams with a super luxury penthouse. But Millie can sense something isn't quite right, and then she comes across Mrs Garrick and everything starts to unravel. Absolutely fabulous stuff.
Holy moly!!! What a great book!!! I highly recommend You read this NOW. Full of twists and turns, you won’t be disappointed. I’m proud to be a “Freida Redah”.💕💕💕
I didn’t love this one as much as I loved the first one. I expected more from Millie, and the whole plot felt rushed. I do love that Enzo makes a reappearance though! The side plot with Brock felt a little useless honestly. Overall, it was a decent book; I just wanted more!!
The Housemaid's Secret by Freida McFadden. Pub Date: February 20, 2023. Rating: 5 stars. In this sequel to The Housemaid, the reader is put into a world of mystery, intrigue, secrets and wealth. I absolutely loved the first book and was super excited to be approved to read this novel and it did not disappoint. With the same flare and mystery of the first novel, the reader is left with a story that is unputdownable. I read this novel in less than 24 hours and highly recommend it! I will read anything Freida McFadden writes. She has become one of my favorite thriller writers in the genre. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review. #netgalley #thehousemaidssecret
The ONLY problem with Frieda McFadden books is that she ruins it for other authors! Her books provide readers with an edge-of-your-seat experience that keeps them coming back for more. The characters in Housemaids Secret are those you hate to love and love to hate. The plot was twisty and surprising. It’s the perfect recipe for an afternoon of non-stop reading!
Millie, Willemina Calloway, is a former convict just trying to make it each day. She has been working as a house cleaner/maid to make ends meet. If you read "The Housemaid" previously that's where her story began. She has helped many women disappear or end their marriage to abusive men. So when Millie gets a call about a job from Douglas Garrick she is finally employed again. Millie notices things are off from the beginning but cannot put her finger on it. She starts to notice that Wendy Garrick is always in the guest room and doesn't come out when she's there. Millie starts to question her each time and figures out that she must be being abused and wants to help her. But things actually start to take a turn where it's not going to be conscrewed that way. Can Millie make it out this time without going to prison again? Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
Frieda can do no wrong!!! This was a great second book. The way she uses the characters from the first book, but made it totally different with a spin. Never a disappointment!
You must read this book! So so good. Freida McFadden is a literal genius! Definitely another hard to put down read!!
Freida McFadden created a new interest in reading for me! This was the first book I read by this author and she had me hooked from the beginning! I thought I knew exactly what was happening throughout the book., however, what a jaw dropper! There were so many twists and turns! I highly recommend this book!
The Housemaid’s Secret is the chilling sequel to Freida McFadden’s bestselling psychological thriller The Housemaid. I wasn’t sure how the author could improve on the first book as it was so good, but I must say it did not disappoint!
Well paced and gripping, The Housemaid’s Secret is every bit as dark and twisted as it’s predecessor and kept me turning the pages long into the night. Full of the kind of twists and turns that I love, it is a chilling read that had me enthralled from beginning to end.
Millie is a brilliant character who you can’t help but like even though you know you really shouldn’t. After the events of the previous book, she now has a new job as housemaid to the Garricks. But nothing is as it seems and before too long things begin to take a chilling turn as Millie opens the door to Mrs Garrick’s room and sees something that changes everything…
To say much more would give too much away, so all I will say is that The Housemaid’s Secret is a brilliantly plotted, dark and shocking psychological thriller that will stay with me for a long time to come. Freida McFadden has written a strong and character driven sequel that completely blew me away and I loved every single word of it!
A dark and twisted read that will chill you to the bone, The Housemaid’s Secret is a book that I would highly recommend.
I do not think that this book was necessary after book one. But, book one also left a sour taste in my mouth for how similar it is to The Last Mrs Parrish.
I love Freida McFadden's writing style, especially all the twists and turns she adds to her books. This was definitely one of my favorite Frieda books !
Just as good as - if not even better than - the first!! Twists and turns throughout! Couldn’t put this book down!
It can be read as a stand-alone from the housemaid, but it was so amazing!!!! You get more of an insight to her life.
***4.5 stars***
Wow! Oh wow! Freida really knows how to take you on a roller coaster ride through her stories! I just love a thriller that has me racing through the pages to find out what happens. The Housemaid’s Secret is the sequel to The Housemaid, whose main character is Millie, a housekeeper, who helps woman from wealthy families. Woman that have some deep, dark secrets.
I recommend you read The Housemaid first to get introduced to some of the characters that flow into The Housemaid’s Secret.
Prepare yourself for a twisty ride! Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the complimentary digital copy. All opinions are my own and honest review. #NetGalley #TheHousemaidsSecret #Bookouture
I was so excited to revisit the characters of this series. Millie and all of her crazy antics.
If you want a read with mind games, drama filled relationships, and shifts in the story you never see coming; you should definitely read this book!!
Freida is always good for a twist or two and she gave another good one in this book. I didn’t see it coming which always speaks to a good twist in my opinion.
I will say that I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first. I still really enjoyed it I just felt it dragged a bit in the middle, but I loved the beginning and the ending.
I have to say I might have liked this one a wee bit more than the first book. It started off much like the first and I thought hmm didn’t I just read this and then oh NO MA’AM it most certainly was not like the first at all! Full of twists and what is Millie gonna do now moments, this was a page turner until the very end. Loved this one, and absolutely recommend it but you must read the first book for full context. (It will be worth it, I promise.)
A huge thank you to Bookouture and to NetGalley for the digital copy to review!
