i requested this after reading freida mcfaddens prequel to this book , the housemaid.

i thoroughly enjoyed the first book and this one wasn't a disappointment either. Its very well written and fast paced, kept me engrossed.

I finished within 2 days, which for me is quick!!

i enjoyed the story line and the character development. Didn't expect any of the twists and turns, of which there was plenty.

Definitely looking into Freida's backlist, she deserves all the hype ive seen regarding her books and writing.

I bow down to you once again!! Thank you Freida for another amazing read! I painfully held out for two weeks to read this to make sure it was the FIRST book I got to read on my kindle I got for Christmas. It DID NOT disappoint. In true Freida fashion, this book was filled with characters you love and hate, twists and turns, and a intertwining story line that I love! There are not many books where I love the sequel as much as the first, but this was one of them! Millie always ceases to amaze me!

What a sequel.

Millie is back and after creating a bit of a reputation within the rich housewives social circles, she has a new job working at a penthouse for the Garricks.

Douglas Garrick has asked Millie to leave his wife alone in the spare room, she's ill and recovering and under no circumstances should Millie check on her. Has Millie ever listened?

After finding out what Douglas is hiding, Millie gets to work - only to discover a massive plot twist.

I think I read most of this book, from the start of part 2 with my mouth open. I wasn't expecting the ending whatsoever.
Great sequel to "The Housemaid", I can only hope for a number 3!

Thanks to netgalley, Freida and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Another cleverly written, twisty, unputdownable, psychological thriller by the brilliant Freida McFadden. I just cannot get enough of her.

Once again, we see Millie working as a housemaid, this time for the uber-rich Mr. and Mrs. Garrick. On her very first day, she is asked not to bother Mrs. Garrick as she’s very ill and needs her rest. But Millie is the helping sort, especially women who might be injured or sick. She is, after all, studying to be a social worker and knows that her capabilities can be put to good use. Millie starts to hear noises and what sounds like crying coming from Mrs. Garrick’s room, so she must check on the poor woman. What she finds stuns her and sends her on a collision course that she knows she shouldn’t be on. What’s real? Who’s real? Why can’t Millie stay out of trouble?

I can’t wait for another book in this series. I think there’s enough low hanging fruit to continue this story. Right, Ms. McFadden?? Please?

Five big stars from me for this one. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

What the heck just happened?! If you thought the first book was good then be prepared for an even better read with this second book! I love the central character of Millie who is a badass, we know this, but it's in a way that makes her seem good., which is quite a tricky thing to pull off. There are a couple of moments in this book that left me open-mouthed thinking... what, really?! Then everything you think you know is tossed out of the window. I love it when a book does this to me. Excellent, just excellent. I'm hoping there will be another one now...

The Housemaid’s Secret is the much anticipated sequel to Frieda McFadden’s bestselling book, The Housemaid. I’ve read a few of the authors books and they never disappoint, this one is no exception. While a sequel it can be read as standalone but the first one is excellent so that first. As come to be expected this one contains the usual Freida twists and turns, exceptional characters and gripping storytelling that will have you hooked after the first page. The book is easy to get lost in and quick to read as you won’t want to put it down. I found myself flying through the pages. I hope that we get to see more of Millie (the housemaid) in the future. Thank you to Frieda McFadden, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an arc of this book.

The Housemaids Secret by Freida McFadden

Wow! I absolutely devoured this book. I was completely invested - I was thinking about it when I had to put it down - that’s how I knew it was a 5 star for me. 👌🏻

I do recommend reading the first book in the series before this one! You’ll want to have that context.

what to expect:
* two twists (that I didn’t see coming at all!)
* multiple POV
* murder + secrets
* page turner

If you’re needing a thriller to read, grab this series!

Summaries are found elsewhere, so I'll just skip to the part where I tell you what I thought about this book --
I LOVED IT

Chapters are short, but long enough to move the story forward. Good balance of dialogue and what I call 'inner reflections'. General comment: I'm not a fan of graphic sex (No need to spend 4 pages on details, just say they did it and get back to the story, I'm a grownup, I get it). Freida's books are clean. That's important to me. Also, I'm pickier than I should be about grammar/spelling errors, and I can honestly say I don't remember noticing any. That means that either there were none or that I was so engrossed that I just skipped right over it completely. Win-win, right?

This book is a sequel, but imo, it can work as a standalone. Reading The Housemaid first definitely gives you a little more depth to some of the characters (and what they might be capable of!) so if you (like me) do it in that order, that's ok. If you stumble on this one first and then decide to pick up TH later, good for you, you will not be sorry!

Twists and turns all the way through, well-drawn characters, some pages where you are shouting WHAT at your book, a few people you love to hate! Yes, I'm a Freida McFan, but after you read this book, you will be, too!

Thank you, Freida McFadden,, Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I had read the Housemaid so I was looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint
I still think you could read this as a stand alone. The characters are once again engaging if not totally believable but they are larger than life and the wry humour attached to their thoughts made me laugh. The plot was far reached but seemed to fit well with the characters. The ending for me was very satisfactory and left me happy to have read this second book.

I could NOT put this book down. Absolutely loved it from start to finish. So many twists and surprises. I loved getting to know Millie a bit more. Absolutely fantastic book. Can’t wait to read more form this author and I’m hoping she continues to release more specifically on this series.

Freida McFadden has done it again! The Housemaid’s Secret keeps you going through twists and turns until the last page.

Millie is a housekeeper for the Garricks. She has a reputation for helping wives who are being abused. Wendy Garrick discovers Millie and asks her to help her get out of her abusive marriage.

As a follow-up to The Housemaid I was a bit skeptical as to how this story could be different. As Freida McFadden does with every book, she created an original story with an ending I could never guess.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of the Housemaids Secret!! I read The Housemaid in the fall and couldn’t stop thinking about Millie! I was thrilled to jump back into her life and see what she was up to. Freida McFadden is at it again with some of her best thriller writing. Just when you think you have it figured out… you don’t. The Housemaids Secret keeps you guessing. Don’t skip the afterward at the end! You will not want to put this one down! It is a must read in 2023!

I don’t get it. I’m a jerk. I was so bored with this book. I couldn’t get past the writing. I just couldn’t, and I’m sorry, because I know a lot of people love Frieda McFadden. And I think it’s amazing that she’s made such a platform for herself BY herself, that’s a huge deal. But I’m sorry. This book was not good. Her writing is not good. I don’t even like the one-dimensional characters. There is no bite to them, no soul or personality. Okay, okay. I’m done. One more: I’m sorry.

I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of The Housemaid’s Secret and once again Frieda did not disappoint. I just stumbled on one of Frieda’s books a few months ages and I am hooked on her clever jaw dropping writing style.

A sequel to The Housemaid which left mouth open many times in the book I thought ok this is a sequel and yes it will be good because of course Frieda wrote it. But let me tell you I didn’t see that coming.

THE HOUSEMAID’S SECRET had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. From the start to the finish you think it goes one way then another then another and then the END! Wow what a roller coaster ride that was. Love, murder and twisty plots I just need more of Millie The Housemaid.

I love Freida!

This book started out so thrilling. It didn’t take long to get to the good stuff.

Millie, a housekeeper with a record starts to work for Douglas and Wendy Garrick. She soon discovers that Douglas is abusive to Wendy and she can’t help herself but to get Wendy out of the situation. That’s when it all takes a horrible turn.

This book was well written, I love Freida’s writing style. Although, this book didn’t have crazy twists, there were definitely some that had some shock factor.

Definitely recommend this book along with her many others.

Great book! Twists are always unbelievable, I figured out 1 twist but none of the rest of them. Amazing once again Freida!

I received a free advance copy of this book in return for an honest review.

It’s not often that a sequel is just as good as the first book, but author Freida McFadden definitely achieved it and more with The Housemaid’s Secret.

This story reintroduces us to Millie, a felon who is trying to live a normal life with her boyfriend and leave her past behind her, after the events of the first book. She gets a job with the very wealthy Garrisons, but she quickly realizes something is wrong. What’s really going on in this house, and why does Mrs. Garrison refuse to leave the bedroom?

Picking this book up and reading about recurring characters Millie and Enzo was much like meeting old friends. I genuinely enjoyed the character building in this story just as much as the twisty turns that I’ve come to know and love from McFadden.

This book can be read as a standalone, but I strongly recommend picking up its precursor while you wait for the release date if you haven’t read it already.

I was so excited to get an ARC of The Housemaid's Secret. I've read all her books and never been disappointed. She continues to prove that with this one! If you are looking for a good page-turner, something that you think you can figure out before the ending but there is a surprising plot twist, then this is the book for you. I thought for sure I had it figured out this time but of course I was wrong. I don't usually like being wrong but in this case I love it.

Another great, fast-paced mystery by frieda McFadden. Loved the characters. You don’t need to read the first book in this series to understand this book. It was a very standalone book. I loved this until the very end. So many twists and turns.
