This sequel to The Housemaid did not disappoint! In typical Freida style, I thought I knew what was going to happen, but the twists kept coming. I loved how this book incorporated details from the first book into the new plot. I couldn’t put this book down and really hope the author will give us another book about Millie.
Loved this sequel!! Could still be its own stand alone but read both for full insight to the MC. So many twists & shocking revelations here that I was not expecting!! Idk where Freida comes up with these amazing thrillers but I’m sure so grateful to have them available to dive into! Page turner for sure and I didn’t want to put it down!!
I love this book from other because I’ve already have been reeling wanting to know more about Millie and what happens next for her! It was good to really see things that may not always be what they seem not only for the readers but for Millie’s as well in wanting to be so quick to help a woman in need. Highly recommend 10/10!
Wow! I'm mindblown! This is definitely a 5 stars for me!The Housemaid's Secret is the perfect sequel to The Housemaid. I devoured this book so quickly since I simply couldn't put it down. I keep wanting to know what happens next. It made me go through a rollercoaster of emotions and what an exciting ride it was! I am so blown away! It is totally jawdropping and keeps you at the edge of your seat. It truly keeps you guessing from start to end. I can't even count how many times I literally said "OMG! Whaaat?!" while reading it. I definitely recommend this book! It is fast paced with a lot of twists and turns. It is a must read for everyone who enjoys psychological thrillers. I am truly happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to receive an ARC for this book. As a sequel, it doesn't disappoint and it keeps me wanting to read more of Freida's other books.
Another fast and fun read by one of my favorite authors! I think I liked the first one a bit more, but this one was great too. I had half of the twist figured out. Thank you so much Freida and NetGalley for the advance copy!!
Loved the twists in the story and the surprising ending! The different points of view worked well. The author has a gift for plotting a suspenseful story.
Wow! Freida McFadden's The Housemaid's Secret is off the charts. Millie is up against someone who's as clever as she is...almost. She is always ready to help a woman in a domestic violence situation no matter what. This time things don't go as planned and Millie's future is in peril. The twist at the end will shock you. A must read for any psychological thriller reader.
Mille is a helper, she helps women in need. She is going for her college degree in order to get a job in social work. While going to school she takes a job with the Garricks to earn money. As we read Millie's experience with working for the Garricks we are taken on one of the best roller coaster rides ever. This was the sequel to The Housemaid. Most times I find a sequel, whether book or movie, it is never as good as the original, BUT...hold that thought....Frieda McFadden is a genius as this book may actually be better than the first one with all of its twisty-ness. Don't walk....run and get this book now!
Guess who's back? Millies back, back again! Tell a friend!
Millie is back, looking after families who need her. Doing their cooking and cleaning and anything else they might need, especially if...their husband was abusing them.
I loved the first book and the second book is really good. As a big fan of Freida McFadden I knew it would be brilliant. And I was not disappointed.
Plenty of twists to keep you going and to keep you guessing .
3.5
I loved the Housemaid, and I was very excited to get my hands on the sequel.
This one was interesting but not as captivating to me. Without saying too much, the twists and turns were well executed and enjoyable.
I was frustrated by Millie throughout the book, mainly with her relationship with Brock, she handled the proposition of getting more serious in a very immature way and that whole situation became repetitive.
I found this one extremely similar to the first one, down to the formatting, while the twists and turns were different, the overall feel wasn't much different than the first one.
Overall, I enjoy Freida McFadden's writing and I will pick up more of her stuff in the future.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for an honest review ❤️
I got the amazing opportunity to read this amazing book in an ARC and let me say I’m truly happy I got to! Freida is amazing with psychological thrillers! I can never pin point what will happen, even though I still try!
Millie has been put through the wringer once again with an employer. Except this time it isn’t what you would think. The further you read on you don’t suspect the twist to the story and it absolutely kept me intrigued and on my toes the entire time! Bravo, Freida! You did it once again! I cannot wait to read more of your novels (and attempt to figure out your amazing twist of events)
OMG THIS BOOK! It's very rare that a sequel is better than the original book but I think Freida somehow topped herself with The Housemaid's Secret! Can definitely be read as a standalone but you're seriously missing out if you don't read every book FM has ever written. I am so sad this book is over. I am praying for book 3!! The plot twists!!!! Fantastic read, 5 easy stars!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC to review!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of The Housemaid’s Secret. I see so many people raving about books by Freida McFadden. I understand because this was a fast and easy read. There was a lot going on, so the book kept my interest. If you love twists, you will love this book. For me, there were TOO many twists, which made the book unbelievable. Twists for the sake of twists are less important to me than solid writing, an immersive story, and well-written, deep characters, so this book was not really great for me. It's not a bad book, just not memorable.
Wowowow.
I’ll admit, I was ready to give it a 4 star review. The beginning wasn’t nearly as captivating as the first The Housemaid book. Anyone who has read the first of the two knows the hate we felt for a certain character fueled us to read on. However, this one didn’t have that immediate chokehold on me.
THEN. The ish hit the fan and I couldn’t put it down. Because of the rough start for me, I bumped it to a 4.5 star read. Millie’s character development was my favorite. From first book to the sequel, her story just continued to keep me invested. The difference between both books, in my opinion, was reading a book of sadistic torture filled with unexpected twists to a book about DV and revenge. So you think.
Finally, everything you think you thought is wrong. Even though you MAY predict one twist, there’s more. Once the twists came, they never stopped! Another Freida hit read. Definitely recommend. 5 stars!
Huge thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC!
Another amazing book from Freida McFadden! This one blew my mind. I read it in less than a day and could NOT put it down. Twists without letup, characters devious, deranged, lying or passionate – who can you believe? Everyone has their version of the truth and you will not see the end coming. This one in ways outdoes the first book!
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this advanced copy.
With Freida McFadden books I don’t need to read the description I know that it will be fantastic. So I knew this book would not disappoint and it did not. You can read as a stand alone book but having the background of Millie from the first book gives you a bit more background on the character. It is a fantastic thriller which keeps you one edge until the end with the twists and turns.
Well it is a Freida McFadden book so I knew it would not disappoint and it did not. You can def read as a stand alone but having the background of the first book is glorious. I love Millie and her spunk and she almost met her match in this one but never underestimate her!!
Gosh Darnit Freida, you did it again! I could NOT put this one down. It was sooooooo juicy, suspenseful, exciting, and I am a big sucker for revenge plots!!! This one moved it's way into my favorite book of the last few years! Excellent. Would 100% recommend. Thank you to the Author, publisher, and to NetGalley for the ARC. Ohhh so good. I hope there is more of Millie to come :)
Again Freida did not disappoint and kept me guessing from the moment Millie walked into the penthouse and was told not to bother the wife since she had health issues. Of course Millie can’t help but talk to the wife. Then the twists begin.
Wow! What a crazy ride. Loved the first book and so looking forward to this second in this series. Millie is back and trying to help another wife who is being mistreated…but once again all is not what it seems. Douglas Garrick is a super wealthy businessman who hires Millie to cook and clean for him and his sickly wife Wendy. At first, it seems like the perfect situation. But soon Millie realizes that something is a bit off in the penthouse. She hasn’t met or seen Wendy..hearing only sobbing and other strange noises coming from behind the bedroom door. Enzo, Millie’s ex boyfriend is no longer in the picture so it is up to her to decide if she can help this abused wife. Things quickly escalate and once again Millie finds herself in the middle of a very bad and quite twisted situation. This book was entertaining from beginning to end., keeping the reader on a roller coaster ride throughout. . I look forward to more books by this author. Solid 4.5 stars read for me.
