Great book highlighting the strength of successful business owners and providing a guide for growing your small business.
"How to Grow Your Small Business" by Donald Miller is a game-changer for anyone navigating the unpredictable waters of entrepreneurship. Miller's 6-step plan is a breath of fresh air in a market saturated with generic business advice. What sets this book apart is Miller's knack for simplifying complex strategies into actionable steps, making it accessible for business owners of all levels.
The book not only outlines practical steps but also delves into the mindset needed to drive success. Miller's conversational style makes the content engaging and relatable, feeling more like a chat with a savvy friend than a traditional business guide. He peppers the narrative with real-world examples, injecting authenticity and credibility into his advice.
One of the book's strengths is its emphasis on cultivating a unique brand identity. Miller recognizes that cookie-cutter solutions won't cut it in the dynamic world of small business. Instead, he encourages readers to tap into their authentic selves to create a business that stands out.
In a nutshell, "How to Grow Your Small Business" is a must-read for entrepreneurs looking to elevate their game. Miller's approach is refreshingly practical, making this book an invaluable resource for anyone ready to see their business take off.
a very technical and interesting writing on planning and executing business growth, presented by the seasoned mentor in analogy with machines, the whole work is basically aiming to transform the small business into a machine.

Donald Miller stole my heart with Storybrand. I took the full course when it first came out. He has a calm, wise way of teaching.
This is a good book for beginners. Having a practical framework for where to start is incredibly helpful. However, the book is how to *grow* your small business, not launch it. I'm 9 years into my small business journey, and didn't learn anything new.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Helpful and logical business acumen from this author. Definitely worth your time, money, and effort! My apologies for my review as I had hoped that I would appreciate your efforts in this book!
I am two years into learning about entrepreneurship and starting my own business. Of course, Miller’s StoryBrand book is a must-have for any entrepreneur, and although I gleaned valuable tools, I didn’t have the same confidence about How to Grow Your Small Business. It does pack great wisdom, practical advice, actionable steps and formulas. But it also comes with self-promotion and a never-ending analogy to the small-business-is-like-a-plane metaphor. I would say for anyone who has launched a product already, but still needs reassurance, this is the resource for you. Beginners, stick to Amy Porterfield’s Two Weeks Notice.
Loved the preview of this book so much that I bought a copy for my library. I don't personally resonate with the airplane metaphor (which is a reiterated A LOT), but the tangible steps to take for growing a small business are priceless. Thank you!
The author's use of six frameworks and playbooks to turn their company into a machine that creates, advertises, sells, and distributes goods is the most crucial information in this book. These six actions may be implemented in the book's suggested sequence or in the order that would best solve their most urgent issues. To me goal of this book is to make the reader into the author, who will then be able to replicate the process in as many other enterprises as they like. Failure to identify and prioritize economic objectives, failure to market products with a clear message, failure to sell in such a way that makes the customer the hero, production of products that are not in demand or profitable, bloated overhead, and improper management of cash and cash flow are the six steps that will organize and grow their business. If they do not take these steps, they will continue to struggle with these problems.
This is a mind blowing book to boost your business, the author deserves credit and the book has my five (5) star review, thumbs up.
Donald Miller takes the guesswork out of growing a small business. In a very clear and concise manner Miller has set out a 6 step plan (that doesn't need to be followed in order) to grow any small business. The easy to follow steps area explained using an airplane analogy. Starting in the cockpit with the Mission Statement (you'll start to critique all those business plans that "serve customers with honesty and integrity") and moving through the plane to right and left engine, wings, body, and fuel tanks. Each step has great examples and worksheets with links to his website for additional info. Perfect for any size or type of entrepreneur, an Etsy shop owner, Real Estate Agent or a larger organization with several employees.
Save yourself a great deal of time and headache, read this book with a highlighter!
P.S: If you aren't familiar with Miller give him a follow on IG, his account is full of some great free advice.
“Donald Miller always have the framework!” That’s what my CEO husband said when I told him I was reading this book! This book didn’t disappoint in that sense. Definitely had a great framework for small businesses. My business perhaps could be considered a micro business though at the rate of his small businesses! Ha! He labeled what I am as being a solopreneur…which I’m okay with after hearing Ed Mylett only has 1 employee helping him run his “small business”. Regardless, the framework and flight plan(s…as there are more than one in different aspects of the bigger flight plan) are very helpful and useful. Some I can implement immediately. Some I’m simply not ready for in my business at all but I can see how in the future they were be hugely beneficial.
I was able to write down some great marketing ideas that came to me just while reading along (not even examples he used). So reading definitely bred new creative ideas already.
I love a good road map. And that exactly what this book is.
