Super cute and easy to make this picture book interactive with a younger audience. I enjoyed reading it and I know the preschoolers I work with would love it too.

Siblings Lily, May and Noah who decide to build a dam and how they get others to help until the dam is quite large and Noah wants his stone back. Very imaginative and very realistic - the illustrations are soft and gentle and you can feel the energy from creative play. Just delightful

A fun imaginative story, just like children do. They play and imagining things, creating fantastic story to (sometimes) hide their mischiefs. I read it first, not noticing how the story changed, and have to return from the beginning to see the scenery changes. It was prettily drawn, and some were hilarious. A nice book to read together with your siblings, or alone.

A cute story about 3 siblings playing make-believe. There’s room for improvement in the clunky dialogue and poor grammar, but the illustrations were enjoyable.

A cute story about imaginative play. Beautifully illustrated, perfect for a quiet moment or bedtime story. Sure to inspire moments of creativity and vivid dreams.

An easy enough story to follow, though I suspect small children won't understand what is actually happening. Really, though, you aren't going to pick this one for the story. The strength is in the illustrations, how each page shows the progression of the scene.

This is a fun read about kids building a dam and using their imaginations. It has great illustrations and shows how a dam can impact the environment around it.
I received a complimentary copy from North South Books Inc via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

“Let’s Build a Dam!“ By Daniel Fehr with illustrations by Mariachiara Di Giorgio is a picture book about siblings who build a dam.

May, Lily, and Noah are building their dam higher and higher. As the dam gets bigger, so do their imaginations as soon fisherman, pirates, and even a king are helping to build the dam.

I liked this story of childhood play and imagination. The illustrations are great. The story has a hard time competing with the illustrations. I still think it will capture the imagination of young children.

This is a cute book about making a dam and how it impacts the river and the environment around it. I will definitely be adding this book to our library!

Three siblings spend a summer afternoon building a dam. The larger it gets, the bigger their imaginations, until all the king's men, and even some reformed pirates are helping with the project.
The gorgeous, sun-dappled illustrations by Mariachiara Di Giorgio are the real star here, though the simple story is also lovely and evocative.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Let's Build a Dam is a beautifully illustrated children's book about three children and the fun they have building a dam and using the power of imagination. This book made me laugh in two places - the king placing his tiny stone on the dam wall and when the boy wanted his stone back. The illustrations really do make this book enjoyable and fun. There are some morals in this book too such as stealing isn't good and teamwork and help is important no matter what your status in life.

Gorgeous illustrations pair with a cute story of three siblings as they begin stacking rocks to build a dam in a stream near their house. I love that it encourages outdoor play (but don't worry - they're not very good dam engineers and the rocks don't stay in the stream forever!) as well as using your imagination (is that pirates I see??)

The illustrations in this book are incredible and well-worth a perusal! It appears that this book was written in Switzerland, and maybe some of the rhyming or story was lost in translation? I would actually use this book with older students as a writing prompt with a class of students or homeschoolers -- there are so many details to discuss!

"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

At first the adult that grew up by a stream was thinking don't build a dam! Then I realized children cannot lift large rocks and neither royalty nor pirates would be hanging about.

Imagination is a wonderful fun thing to have and I forgot that for me moment. I was reminded by 3 children and a dam that could not very large enough

Siblings May and Lily are building a dam and their brother Noah helps starting with his special green rock in the dam. Noah loses interest and decides to fish instead. As the dam got higher a king appears and then pirates who are going to attack the king is told by Lily and May not to attack but help build the dam. Will the pirates help? Noah wants his green rock back so the siblings end up getting soaked. Their Mom gives the hot chocolate and the siblings imagine tomorrow’s adventures.

It’s a delightful picture book and story for young children. The books shows how wonderful imagination is. It’s a fun book to read. Of course it shows how quickly reality comes when they stop imagining.

Super cute book, full of imagination. I didn't love that it, as a children's book, contains the word "stupid", but my kids don't read yet so I substituted "silly" instead.

I liked the premise of Let's Build a Dam! But I wish the story had been developed more. And that dams were better explained. Though, the illustrations are pretty and soft and dreamlike. I love the imagination. This would be a good storytime book.

Thank you to Netgalley and NorthSouth Books for providing me with a review copy.

Beautiful artwork. I enjoyed the openness of the story. I would definitely be interested in using this to open discussion with students about what they would do in the situations presented
