This book was so good! Loved Annie and Will! A romance reading introvert and a reformed rake! Fake dating!! Real feelings!! Honestly could not put this one down. Such a pure genuine love story. It felt realistic and neither of the MCs were obnoxious. Sometimes the internal dialogue with romance books can get redundant and frustrating, but this was excellent all the way through. Very well written.
Absolutely love this book! I was addicted from the start! I didn’t want it to end . Can’t wait to read more from this author!
Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for an arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

It took me a little longer than usual to read through this book but honestly the book came at the perfect time in my life. A lot has been happening negatively within my career leading to feeling burnt out, tired, and questioning. This book was like a warm hug and felt like Adams wrote it just for me.
Right off the bat, I knew this book was going to stick with me because I was Annie at one point in my young adult life. I have always been the quiet, bookworm, sensitive child in my family. Reading Annie's story of finding more about herself left me without words.
Adam's writing was easy for me to close the door on all the career issues I dealt with this past week and slip into this comforting story. Plus the banter between Annie and Will was adorable. Adam's is definitely a new auto-buy author for me!
Perfect for fans: dual pov, steam, fake dating, forced proximity

This was my first book by Sarah Adams and I absolutely loved it! This is a stand alone but does feature characters from When in Rome which I haven’t read yet 🫣. This book was so cute! I loved the interactions between Annie and Will! It gave me a Gilmore Girls vibe! They live in a small town where every body knows everybody and their business! It was a quick read and wholesome! I can’t wait to check out her other books!
Holy potato.
This book was everything and more.
@authorsarahadams how do you do it?!
Never in my life have I related so much to a character. I felt so seen through Annie.
And oh Will. William. Wilson. Wildon 🫠
🦋 the way he let Annie see his true self
🦋 his tattoos
🦋 his banter
🦋 his protectiveness
🦋 sneaking the sweetest pictures of Annie
🦋 and the way he encourages Annie to stay true to herself — to be who she really wants to be, rather than the person everyone expects her to be
Gosh, I loved this book to pieces.
I must confess, I didn’t think I’d love the second book in Rome, KY, as much as I loved the first one…but I actually think I love this one even more! If it’s possible!
I must now run off and convince the man I let all my guards down around (my sweet husband of 7 years now) that he must get a butterfly tattoo, call me sunshine, and read one of my romance novels. Wish me luck! 😆
Thank you so much to @netgalley and Random House Publishing for my advanced copy.
I really enjoyed this romance. I quite liked both of our main characters and their personal journeys, especially Annie's. I feel like hers is one I haven't seen in books many times before. Trying to find yourself in a sea of expectations from others can be really difficult and I like how that was dealt with in this book. I also really loved the small town setting, and I kind of got a Gilmore Girls feel with that aspect. Just the way everyone's involved in everything, even personal matters that no one asked them to be involved in. It was just really nice and cozy. I also really liked the family aspect we got on Annie's side (and I'm excited to read When in Rome now as well to see more from them, and I hope the other siblings get their books too). I also really loved the practice dates thing that brings our two main characters togehter. I do think they were really into each other from a very early point, and I would have liked a bit more build up there, but overall I did quite like how their relationship developed and the connection these two formed with each other. Honestly, I had a really good time reading this book and I definitely highly recommend it.
I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!! I have been wanting to read this book since I first heard about it (right after I read and fell in love with When In Rome) and I’m so obsessed that I cannot wait to get a physical copy and read it again. This is part of the Rome, Kentucky series but you could totally read it as a standalone book. It centers on Annie Walker, the youngest of the Walker siblings, who runs her own flower shop. She is an introvert who is quiet and sweet and shy…and is pretty bad at dating. Or so she thinks. Turns out, she’s really not bad at it at all, she just needs the right man that she can be herself with. I can’t tell you how much I love Annie. What I can tell you is how much I love Will Griffin: executive protection agent and absolute heartbreaker. He’s a sweetheart who has a bad boy reputation and wants nothing to do with love and relationships. Too bad for him the heart has better ideas! If you love Rory and Jess and all the small-town vibes with a plethora of frustrating and heartwarming (slightly oddball) characters, you will adore this book. Now excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep.
I received an advanced readers copy in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
I didn’t think I could love Annie and Will more than Amelia and Noah but I was dead wrong. I absolutely loved Annie and Will to pieces! They are perfectly perfect for each other from the adorable nicknames, to the tenderness and all the silliness in between. Will brought Annie out of her shell giving her a safe place to truly be herself and in turn Annie gave Will all the meaningful attention and affection he’s been starved for.
This is the perfect feel good romcom! It’s full of amazing characters, a quirky town, heartwarming silliness and all the heart eyed feels. This series is amazing and I can’t wait for Maddie’s book, I hope it’s next after those easter eggs dropped in a certain chapter. 🤞🏻
Thank you @authorsarahadams , publishers and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
3.5 ⭐️ (rounding up 😉)
I loved Annie. I also really loved Will. I think the thing that fell a little short for me was, based on When in Rome, I was expecting something more dramatic to happen but it didn’t. It was a sweet story about Annie and Will falling in love by fake dating but nothing very crazy. Sarah Adams is still one of my faves. ☺️
Thanks #NetGalley for the eARC!
I loved this book! It was a perfect small town romance and the banter between them was top tier! Will was the sweetest book boyfriend. Highly recommend!
Practice Makes Perfect was so cute! It was great to be back in Rome, Kentucky. I missed the town and people.
I loved Annie. She's a flower shop owner that had the worst date ever so when she confides to Amelia about her worries about dating. Amelia comes up with a plan using the help from her bodyguard, Will. Will has always had an attraction towards Annie so when he agrees to give her dating lessons the feelings they start to feel for one another become strong.
I loved Will. He loved Annie's book addiction to pirate romances and when he got jealous he couldn't hide his emotions.
I loved seeing Annie's character growth. She became more confident in herself and became more vocal about her emotions and feelings. I also loved her relationship with her siblings. I love how her growth improved her relationship with her family.
It was also great to see Noah and Amelia again and see a glimpse into their life.
How can I say how much I lived this book? This has by far been my favorite book I've read this year. It was exactly what I was wanting to read. I related to Annie in so many ways and I wish I had a Will in my life to sweep me off my feet. This book was so well written, I'm going to be disappointed by the next book I read.
I fell in love with Sarah Adams’s writing at the end of last year. I’ve read all but 2 of her books I think. 😂❤️🥰
She writes characters that feel real and they become my best friends. This new book of hers is another testament to her great skill.
This book is a sequel to When in Rome. And if you haven’t read that one yet then you have 2 GREAT reads ahead of you. ;-)
I loved seeing Annie’s journey as she learns to be more transparent with who she really is instead of the “perfect” mask she’s worn for years in a misguided attempt to be what she thought her siblings needed when facing the loss of their parents.
I love this meddling town of Rome,Kentucky and I already can’t wait for the next book so I can travel back!
I need a hot tattooed bodyguard in my life now pls.

In classic Sarah Adams fashion this book felt like a warm hug and I adored it. Will & Annie we’re so relatable as characters and I rooted for them every step of the way. A little fake dating mixed in with some opposites attract and swoony love.
Annie is me I am Annie. She was me in character form. She was shy and introverted and loved reading smut but also wanted to get married and be loved so badly. Will was the perfect person for Annie. Ugh I loved them.
It was a tad bit redundant at times and I needed them to get there quicker but I really liked this!
Thanks Penguin Random House for the ARC!!
“It seems to me, Annie, that you are just waiting for someone to give you permission to be yourself out loud.”
SARAH ADAMS CAN DO NO WRONG. I'm convinced. She is very quickly becoming an auto read author for me and I love it!!!
Practice Makes Perfect is the second book in Sarah's Rome, Kentucky series. I read the first book, When in Rome, in March and have been waiting for this one ever since. Let me just say, it did not disappoint.
I found myself relating to the main character Annie a lot. She's the youngest of four children and has always stuffed down her thoughts and emotions to make those around her more comfortable. Practice Makes Perfect is all about her learning how to own who she is (with the help of Will, the MMC) and it's beautiful. Definitely recommend this book/series and I'm so excited to see what Sarah does next!
I absolutely love this book! Probably my favorite read so far of 2023. This rom com literally had me laughing out loud. There was a part where they talk about the location of the salt and pepper and it was hilarious! It was great to see how Will helps Annie’s charter develop into that outgoing free spirit she always wanted to be. Then there is also great development from Will’s character.
This was a small town, he falls first rom com. There definitely were some spicy scenes but they usually fade to black. It was such a cute book and I loved all the characters.
This was my first book by Sarah Adams. I have already ordered When in Rome. I am hooked!

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS
After reading “When In Rome”, I was needy to read more from Sarah. When I found out that this book was coming, I was desperate for the day to come. For a while, I have not been reading a lot of the swoon type of romance (I was trapped by dark romance) but this book!!!! This book took me back to the light 😅 I can’t begin to explain how much I love and relate to Annie’s personality. I love how Sarah talked a bit about her social anxiety and how hard it was for Annie to step out of the mold that everyone around her had her. It’s really difficult to be yourself when everyone thinks of you as an “angel”, and this good person that won’t do certain things because they are “ugly” or “bad”. I can talk about how much I love Annie for hours! Now, Will! (I feel like we never got what was Will’s real full name, or maybe we did and I need to re-read the book [not that I would mind]) Will had me at hello! He didn’t believe in compromise, but he was respectful af. Sexy bodyguard with a nice and sweet heart under all of the pain he was carrying. I loved how Will was willing to give Annie what she wanted, even though he was scared. Also loved how Annie was realistic and told him “no” (you will see when you read it!). I laughed and cried too much while reading this story. Shocking to me, but I also have a favorite chapter! Chapter 40 😍🥹 The last one but Oh. My. God. My heart can’t with so much love.
Now, to the deets.
I love really spicy books, but this one was not it, but although it’s not one it is on 🔝 of my best reads so far.

This was cheesy, cute, a little over the top, and just all around fun to read.
I actually believe it is part of a series? I never read "When in Rome" and you absolutely don't need to in order to enjoy these characters.
Don't get me wrong: there is nothing astoundingly innovative about this story. Boy who doesn't want to fall in love, girl who dreams of falling in love but is clumsy and unknowledgeable, 'fake dating' / 'helping learn to date' trope leading to a whirlwind romance. But sometimes I really just need those 'feel good' stories that can just be enjoyed and not taken too much beyond face value, and this is one of them!
It’s been a long time since I read a rom com that I could not put down and was so excited to read! You know it’s good when you don’t want it to end. Will, a seemingly tough bodyguard who has sworn off serious relationships decides to help Annie, the sweet introvert who owns and runs a flower shop, practice how to date. Though they seem like total opposites, they quickly realize that they love spending time together. The romance in this book was GOOD. Will was mysterious and dreamy and the whole book gave me Hart of Dixie vibes aka Wade and Zoey (IYKYK). Definitely one of Sarah Adam’s spicier books, but she managed to keep it mostly closed door. This book had just the right amount of depth and if you need something happy and fun then read this book!
Communication, HONESTY, vulnerability, and a soft enemies-to-lovers relationship, what more could a girl want?! But truly - Will is incredible and Annie's relationship anxiety and general social situation anxiety felt so relatable to me. My only complaint / holdback from 5 stars was the glamorization of some of Will's negative traits connected to his prior military service. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free advance copy.
