My Review :
Christmas in Brookside Falls
by Lita Harris is a heartwarming story of family, lose, support set in a wonderful little town in Pennsylvania. The story was a quick-read filled with small town charm. The characters were easy to love. This could have been a 5 star read if it wasn't for all of the dead stuffed birds all over the Inn. It made it kind of creepy and there was to much death for a romance book.

A beautifully festive tale of romance in the Christmastime. A wonderful treat for the holiday season.
This is a new Author to me, but after reading this story I will be looking for more by her. Hairstylist Kristen Anderson after a set of things happening ends up with her nephew Danny, they move to Brookside Falls to start over. Architect Luke Baldwin relocates from New York City to Brookside Falls to care for his ailing mother. Kristen and Luke will to overcome somethings to get their happy ending. The story was well worth reading. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was good, there was just something here I just couldn't connect with. I'm not going to say I didn't enjoy the the book, it just wasn't my favorite and didn't keep me wanting to turn pages and keep going. Not exactly the book for me, but a good book nonetheless.
With Christmas now behind us I thought I had better finish reading this book and I am glad I did. It is a heartwarming story of family, lose, support and all set in a wonderful little town in Pennsylvania.
I loved this lovely Christmas read that gave me the warm and fuzzies. It is full of great characters, is entertaining, easy to read and a bit of fun as well. It is a book to read with a hot cuppa in a warm cosy spot.
this novel was a cute christmas romance, but at times it was a little bland. i liked most of the characters but the story just needed a little more. since this is an arc, i’m assuming that there was more editing to the novel prior to publication. such editing was definitely needed because i caught multiple grammatical, spelling & typo errors. overall, the novel was okay, just needs some more work.
Looking for a heartwarming read this holiday season? This is the book for you! This is the gift you didn't know you needed! Kristen's life has been turned upside down when she unexpectedly becomes the guardian to her nephew, Danny. Danny and his mom lived in Florida before the accident. Kristen lived on the Jersey shore before the accident, but has moved to a small town in Pennsylvania called Brookside Falls to be close to her grandmother. Nana used to have an inn and is reopening it this Christmas as she loves having guests around. Kristen and Danny are going to live at the inn and help Nana with the many things to do to make the guests happy.
When Danny and Kristen go Christmas tree shopping, they meet Luke. Luke wants the same tree that they do, but he relents and lets them have it. Luke is also new to town, moving from New Jersey. Luke is an architect and has an aunt in town who's a realtor. Gladys, Luke's aunt, helps him find a property that he can use as an office and an apartment. Luke's mother suffers from dementia and is in the process of being moved to a beautiful facility in Brookside Falls. Luke has had to care for her most of his life as his mom suffered from an early onset of dementia. Luke's dad died when he was young, so it was just the two of them.
Luke and Kristen keep running into each other and they both are attracted to the other. Kristen is hesitant to get involved with someone as she wants her focus to be on Danny. Danny just lost his mom and his whole world has changed so she wants to be sure he's adapting well and feels safe. Danny loves the inn and loves Nana and Aunt Kristen. Nana even buys him hamsters and a pet snake, which he thinks is the greatest! Kristen is scared of snakes, but deals with the new addition as best she can.
At dinner one night, Nana tells Kristen that they're having someone else to dinner. Who shows up? Luke! It turns out that Nana and Gladys have decided the inn should have a hair salon attached and Luke is doing the addition. The room is already there, he just has to reconfigure it for a salon. He will work closely with Kristen to get it set up exactly like she wants it. Kristen had plans to return to the Jersey shore and the salon she worked at there, but now she's not sure what to do. Will Kristen stay in Brookside Falls? Is there a future with Luke? What's the secret of Luke's family? Is it closer to Kristen's than you think? Will the inn be a success when it opens? Will Luke's mom make out okay switching facilities to be closer to him? Read on and enjoy every moment!
I enjoyed this book and found it very touching. I rate Christmas in Brookside Falls 5 stars and recommend that you read it. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for an advanced copy in exchange for a fair review. #ChristmasinBrooksideFalls
This was a pleasant enough book but not really for me. Others I am sure will enjoy it much more than I did.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
Thank you for allowing me to read this book as an ARC. While I truly love a good holiday book/movie and story, this one did not cut it for me.
The story it wants to tell is cute and definitely in line with a great holiday theme; however, it was not well laid out and planned. It seemed like ideas were just thrown out as they came and sometimes just were all over the place. The story line was choppy and did not have a good flow. I was also wondering of the time line as somedays appeared to must have more than 24 hours to all fit.
The characters were perfectly fitting for a holiday story but very predictable. I could guess the end pretty much from the first chapter. Considering this was an ARC, I assume a lot of editing still went into it before publication.
A sweet Christmas romance set in rural Pennsylvania. Raising her nephew, and living with her grandmother is sweet enough, but meeting hunky Luke makes it even better. Enjoyed this one, and put me in the holiday mood. A little overly sweet at times, but that's ok too. Would recommend.
I wanted to love this book so much. I was excited for the Christmas theme and family focused story.
Unfortunately, I found the writing very choppy and struggled to relax into it. There were completely random plot twists, extended story lines that became irrelevant, unusual character traits and overall, the story just didn't come to a satisying conclusion. The first third of the book in particular was really hard to consolidate.
I did read this as an ARC so my hope is that it wasn't the final copy and will be having significant editing to try to get the story to a place that flows more naturally.
Christmas in Brookside Falls is a sweet and cozy little Christmas story that I enjoyed. After Kristen’s sister passes away, she gets guardianship of her nephew Danny and takes him to Brookside Falls where she and her sister grew up. Living with Nana in her inn, Kristen has to decide if she wants to go back home to the Jersey Shore or stay with the grandmother who raised her in the small town she loves. To add more weight to her decision, she finds herself falling for local contractor, Luke, who has his own heavy decisions to make…namely, if he’s ready to open his heart back up to love.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for a review and opinions are my own.
I received a free copy of, Christmas in Brookside Falls,by Lita Harris, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Getting custody of her 7 year old nephew, completely changes hairstylist Kristen's life, she moves into her Grandma's inn, as was her late sisters request. Deciding to change the inn and add a hair salon, is a great business opportunity for Kristen. The handsome architect, Luke has his own issues to deal with. Can Kristen and Luke have a relationship, and get over their fears, ant their pasts? Such a good read. I really enjoyed the characters and the setting.
Christmas in Brookside Falls was tedious for me. Very repetitive, could have been more romantic and less abrupt. What was with banana and her dead, stuffed parakeets? They added nothing to the story and no guests commented on them? Creepy. Too many dead family members. Thanks to the author , publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review
kristins sister dies and she comes back to town to help her aunt raise her nephew. then she meets luke who is moving his mother to town to the nursing home.. they meet and then help each other over come the problems good story i was given a copy by netgalley but this is an honest review
This is very heartwarming! and a sweet story about love and loss.
Kristen is spending the Christmas as the guardian to her young nephew. They have moved in with Kristen's grandmother at her inn, as her late sister requested.
Luke has recently came to his hometown because he is hoping to have his dementia mother closeby to possibly bring back some of her memories.
Kristen and Luke encounter each other at the local tree farm. They meet again when Kristen’ grandmother invited him to draw a plan for adding a salon to the inn. He likes her, but after a bad relationship, he is really scared to begin another. Both of them have their own issues to work through,
but will that keep them apart? That’s yours to figure out.
