I liked Kristen and Lukes story. They had a good connection except I felt Luke was more stand offish than he needed to be. Her nephew was a great minor character.
This was a sweet story about love and loss. It is a very heartwarming book.
Kristen is spending her first Christmas as guardian to her young nephew. They have moved in with Kristen's grandmother at her inn, per her late sister's request.
Luke has recently relocated to his hometown. He is hoping to have his ailing mother closeby to possibly bring back some of her memories.
Kristen and Luke encounter each other at the local tree lot. They meet again when Kristen';s grandmother has Luke draw up plans for adding a salon to the inn. He likes her, but after a bad relationship, he is reluctant to begin another. Both of them have their own issues to work through, but will that keep them apart?
I didn't love this book. It was oversentimental for me. The aunt, whose sister has just died, hugs her nephew way too much each day and brings up his dead mother a lot. It seemed too much to me. There wasn't a lot moving the story forward. It felt stuck in first gear. But the holiday parts are great and if you want a light holiday romance, this might be for you.
This novel was good however a little slow. I didn't really click with any of the characters. It's a cute and uplifting story however I just wish there was a little bit of more character development. If you like light romance reads this may be for you! Thanks to Netgalley for the ARc
