I was impressed by the amount of light that was brought to what it's like to live with dyslexia. I had to commend Violet for not letting it bring her down. Hudson is wonderful. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Violet has had a crush on friend and co-worker Hudson for years, but has no intention of ever acting on it for very good reasons - not least because he's so obviously not interested in her. Until suddenly, he is. And events conspire to put them into very intimate contact.
I've enjoyed all of this series, but what I particularly like, as it's gone on, is the shift in focus. Having all the protagonists being billionaire lawyers/techboys/Olympic snowboarders can get a little samey, and it was quite amusing that this book had a little self-referential poke at that, when Violet compared herself to Hudson's family at the wedding they attended. The protagonists in this story are much more down-to-earth people, with struggles and money worries, and the way they battle past their insecurities and scars to find each other is both sympathetic and realistic. I also liked all the references to the art that is so instrumental in bringing them together, and the strong supporting cast, particularly Eunice. A compelling, heartfelt, and spicy read.
Holy cannoli Skin Deep was magnificent!
This is a friends to lovers romance that is incredibly well done. I don't think I have ever read a friends to lovers trope that's done so beautifully that's also super steamy.
Each character is written so well that they feel like real people. I think Wyatt also did a spectacular job representing dyslexia. Violet struggles but finds her talent and begins to shine through that. Hudson also had a lot of baggage but he's got a heart of gold. Violet and Hudson's friendship felt real. I think this is hard to pull off so I commend Wyatt for being able to pull this off.
The writing is easy to read and lose yourself in. I really enjoyed it.
Skin Deep was a beautiful friends to lovers romance.
