I absolutely LOVED Josh and Gemma make a baby! The audio version of this is so fun, and made me so excited to read this follow up! This one had so much drama based around their relationship and it made me so sad at times watching Josh fumble and try to navigate Gemma's feelings. I could have done without bringing Ian back, but I get the purpose. I definitely was hoping for some more steam and romance from this one to really help me understand their love throughout! I am definitely intrigued to see if there will be a third book in the series.
Gemma and Josh finally have their lives figured out, they have a baby on the way and they are about to get married it seems that their happy ever after is just around the corner. Due to an untimely separation (Jenna being in a coma for three months) their love and happily ever after are at risk.
In my opinion, a second book wasn't really needed because the first book summed up that Josh and Gemma ended up together and that the IVF worked the second time around.
This book was good. I really love the first one better and was excited to read more of Josh and Gemma’s story. This book isn’t needed, but it was fun to go back and read about them.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #Swift&Lewis for the arc of #JoshandGemmatheSecondTimeAround! I was excited to see the sequel to Josh and Gemma Make a Baby, I also wasn’t necessarily expecting a sequel. This book was not what I expected at all. It’s definitely not a feel good romance book but had some interesting plot points. I still don’t really know how I feel about the book, I was not expecting this story line at all and it really threw me off at the beginning of the book. I didn’t get rom-com vibes from this book, more of just womens fiction almost? It was definitely a “heavy” book at times. Overall, a 4 star read. I would have loved for this to be a standard love story between Josh and Gemma as I was really rooting for them in the first book and wanted more of a follow up to the happiness we got originally. This definitely wasn’t that kind of book but still kept me satisfied and interested in the story.
Loved reading this story and thought that it was a good follow-up to the first book, which is the story of how their dating relationship started. I loved how much he cared for her and the baby, and tried to put them first in his life even when they couldn't do the same for him. It was annoying how many communications issues that they had, but that seems to be the dynamic of Josh and Gemma's relationship. There were many times when I wanted to just reach in the book and shake them both. I loved the friend group that she gained through her infertility treatments and how they stuck together even when they all had babies. Great book and I definitely enjoyed this book and wouldn't mind another addition to their story.
I loved the first book Josh & Gemma Make a Baby so I was super excited to find out there was a sequel! This one did not hit as well as the first. The characters have a real problem with communication, but I guess if they were good at actually talking to each other, then we wouldn't have a book. It was still a fun read.
When I read the first Josh and Gemma book I instantly fell in love with the characters and the whole book. When I found out a second one was written I was ecstatic. Until I finished it… you completely ruined the romance of josh and Gemma. It was frustrating that you felt the need to try and redeem a horrible horrible character aka Ian. This book fell incredibly flat. I guess it felt more like a soap opera with brain injuries. Which I like that you brought awareness to that but it really just didn't do their love justice. If you loved the first book I felt highly highly suggest not reading this on
I really wanted to like this book. Unfortunately, I had not read the first book about Gemma and Josh, so there was a lot of backstory that was missing for me. It would have helped if the author had included a little bit more information as to why Josh was back and forth in LA and what Ian Fortune actually did. All in all, it was a good book, But not a good standalone book.
The book was amazing and I couldn’t stop reading it. It was interesting and love every part of it. This books does have abit of spicy scenes.
I thought this was a very sweet book. The plot was definitely different and it was very interesting to see the back and forth between the characters. Without really understanding how it could feel to have a traumatic brain injury, I felt like I could relate to Gemma. I was very entertained by the up and down, back and forth between the characters. It was a good read and I would recommend it.
This was an enjoyable romance that I didn't want to put down. I loved the main characters and the story was well developed.
I really liked this book. I just didn’t realize that there was a book that came before it. I definitely plan to read that one so hopefully this one makes a little more sense. But overall, having not read it, I loved this book. I loved the characters and their banter back and forth.
I really liked the first book and I enjoyed this one as well! Its different and refreshing and I really enjoy Josh and Gemmas story! I dont think we see enough romances that are centered around families or women and men in a relationship and how it changes when they become a family! I enjoyed this one
I loved the first book and was so excited for this one. But I hated it. I hated the plot, I hated Gemma. I get that she’s not who she was in the last book but it was so annoying. It was one long miscommunication trope that I couldn’t stand.
A sequel, as such, hinted at by the title, but would be a good read as a standalone. It would be helpful to read the previous book before this one, but if you're like me, a few bits of missing/confusing background information is not enough to ruin a book for me. A fun and quick read, definitely a choice for those in a slump, especially those who read "thinkers" all of the time and need to give their brain a rest and reset.
I was worried this book wouldn't be a "happily ever after" but I was wrong! It was sad, funny and happy all in one, an emotional rollercoaster!
I loved this book and I will be recommending it to friends! Maybe even as a book club series!
After requesting this I realised it was a sequel, although found it could be read as a standalone. For me I feel like I missed a lot of backstory and could not get into this novel at all after a prolonged passage which I felt went on way too long i decided that there were better books out there on my list and this was just not for me. Sorry
Thank you to my partners, NetGalley and Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC, and the author, Sarah Ready. I appreciate the gifted eARC, and I am leaving this review voluntarily!
Josh and Gemma stole my heart in the first book in this series, so I was excited to get another story! And it was nothing that I could’ve imagine! I was able to tag team reading and listening with this one and both were equally enjoyable!
1. Overcoming Obstacles - I cannot even begin to fathom the horror of what Gemma goes through in this book. Ugh. Heart….Wrenching. It is completely unimaginable. And in turn, everyone else has to find a way to help her.
2. An Unexpected Friend - Who would have thought that the one person Gemma would have completely shied away from before becomes the one person who helps see her through her trials and tribulations.
3. Past Heartaches - There is an event in the past that comes to light that tremendously affected two of the main characters. It is a part of the story that had me holding my breath for the outcome.
4. Family - Nothing stands more true than the importance of family in this story. Whether it is biological family or found family, both are the root of the solution that comes to be.
5. One Word - FIJI - A dream vacation of mine. My real life version of Fiji from the end of this story was Belize 🌴 And it was magical.
Gemma Jacobs has life figured out. She’s upbeat, positive to a fault, and the master of her own destiny. She has a wonderful career in social media marketing, lives in a trendy apartment with her fiancé Josh Lewenthal, and is pregnant with their much-loved baby.
Her life is wonderful. Absolutely perfect.
Except…
What really comes after the happily ever after?
Josh Lewenthal is laid-back, fun-loving, and always finds the humor in life. He writes a wildly successful web comic series, and can’t wait to marry Gemma—the woman of his dreams.
His life is amazing. Terrific.
Except…
What happens when everything changes?
Suddenly Josh and Gemma’s lives are turned upside down, and their love and their future together are at risk. They realize their happily ever after isn’t the end, it’s just the beginning—and now they have to fight for it.
They confront a devastating separation, the return of world-infamous Ian Fortune, and the question of whether or not their love can truly survive when everyone says...it’s already gone.
Captivating, gripping, and full of unexpected twists and turns, this love story yanks you into what happens after the happily ever after.
I loved this story. I felt like this was the perfect followup to a HEA. It captures the beauty of the drama and reality of life. Will recommend this to others.
Having read the first book a few months ago, I was so happy to find this book. I am so glad that there is a second book. I loved Josh and Gemma in the first book. I thought this book was really good because often books end with a happy every after and don't address what happens after the happy ever after. I liked how it dealt with deeper topics and wasn't all butterflies and rainbows but more realistic. I would recommend to people who have read the first book.
