Sarah Ready has the ability to make me cry every time. In the first book of this series, I was crying at the realistic portrayal of struggling with infertility, love, and loss. But in this one? HOLY CRAP. Gemma seriously can’t catch a break.

I love Gemma and Josh’s love. It’s pure and absolutely wonderful. But they get dealt one bad hand after another and it absolutely breaks my heart.

I don’t want to give anything away, but if you want a tear-jerking read where everything isn’t always happy and perfect, this is the book for you. Just be aware of some trigger warnings (infertility, medical trauma, loss of love, etc.).

Also, the audiobook for this series is wonderful and I couldn’t stop listening to it!

Just like the first book, I enjoyed reading this one. I was faced with different emotions the same way Gemma felt the entire book. I was confused, like Gemma, as if I was in her shoes. Everything that happened to her was so confused, yet they make sense. I was always over the edge of my seat when Ian was in the scene but I know, without a doubt that she would always choose Josh.

I adore the dedicated Josh has and how hard he fight for Gemma since day one.

It was nice seeing Josh and Gemma's life after the baby.

I adored Josh and Gemma Make a Baby so I was a little nervous going into this one, I just wanted them to have their hea. I ended up really enjoying the roller-coaster of emotions and the fact that their road wasn't completely smooth and they had to deal with some real life issues. If you don't like the miscommunication trope this one may not be for you. There are few times Josh or Gemma run when a simple conversation would have solved the issue. In my opinion all of that just made the ending sweeter. There is plenty of humor and great banter from Ian Fortune of all characters. I somehow ended up liking him, if not liking him at least feeling a little sorry for him. Erin Mallon's narration was perfection as always, she can do no wrong, If she's narrating I'm listening.

Josh and Gemma the Second Time Around by Sarah Ready. I had listened and enjoyed the first book in the series. So, I thought I had to know what is going to happen the second time round. I must say I found the premise forced, maybe Josh and Gemma should have been left to live their happily ever after. But having said that it was still a fun and quick listen and if you need something to get you through the day then definitely you can pick it up.
The narration by Erin Mallon was good.
I would like to listen to more books by the author.
Thank You Net Galley for approving this book for me to listen to.

I was surprised when I saw that Josh and Gemma had another book coming out. I loved the first book so of course I had to request the arc.

To be honest though, I was a little worried because sequels don’t work out so well for me especially since the first book ended with HEA. I wondered if there was really a need for a second book. And the answer is yes. This book brought back all the charm and all the laughs and it made me fall in love with Josh all over again.

I would highly recommend it to any romcom fans but I would suggest reading the first book before jumping into this one.

I read this first book in the series and loved it. I was worried about what the second book would be about. I felt like the first one ended perfectly.

I was not disappointed at all. I really enjoyed this. There were some parts that really shattered me but I am genuinely happy with the second book.

It was funny, heartbreaking, and heartwarming all at the same time.

Thanks to NETGALLEY for an advanced audio of Josh and Gemma second time around.

The audio voice was pleasant and her tone was neutral enough that her voice didn’t distract or have me annoyed (you know what I mean lol a whole book can be ruined by the pitch or tone of the speaker like the voice of the narrator can’t possibly match the tone of the book)

The story itself was completely not what I expected I did not read book one so I didn’t know the love story but I did like the idea of what happens after the happily ever after and OUFF was that all the emotions. I was pleasantly surprised and if your willing to sit through a rollercoaster go for this book/ audio book

I give it 4 stars because I do feel als though it could stand alone there were something I didn’t no that kind of filled in eventually but you really do need to read the first book to get the complete picture

How do I find a real life Josh? I loved Josh and Gemma Make a Baby so when I saw there was a sequel I had to read it. Josh and Gemma are such a great couple and I loved getting more of their story. Such great chemistry, with wit and humor that made me laugh out loud at times. Sarah Ready does a great job of bringing in heavier topics without completely dragging down the mood of the story. Such an enjoyable read that I highly recommend. Just make sure to read the first book before this one.

I received the audiobook from Netgalley and highly recommend this format. Erin Mallon really brings Gemma to life in her narration while also giving distinct voices to the other characters. She really kept me engaged in the story.

I would love to read more of Josh and Gemma’s journey!

After reading Josh and Gemma’s first book I couldn’t believe Sarah Ready was able to read a better story. But the second time around is an amazing story about second chances, friendship, family, grand gestures and little things that keep you laughing, crying and fill your heart with warm feelings. Erin Mallory do a fantastic job narrating such a wonderful story and making the audiobook even better.

I loved the first book and was so excited to get more of Josh and Gemma. Their story, after their HEA, is more emotional and poignant, mixed in with Ready's signature witty banter, and comical look at life. Josh and Gemma almost had it all, when something devastating happens that threatens their lives together. It is something that no one ever plans for, and will test their love, strength, and willingness to fight for each other. It is a beautiful and heartrending look at what love looks like to you, and the limits we put on that idea. I was so intrigued with the direction Ready took us on in this second book. It was so compelling, passionate, emotional, and honest. It made me love Josh & Gemma even more for their strength, love and devotion. There were those who weren't happy about their relationship, and tried to plant doubt with them, but their bond was beyond that. They support one another, had patience, and when they looked down deep, they had unwavering faith in each other. This story was about life and the twists and turns it throws at you, but can rise above together.
Erin Mallon's beautiful narration made me love this story even more. She understood and expressed these characters so flawlessly. She took my breath away as she made me feel all the complex emotions that Josh and Gemma went through, making me laugh, cry and swoon.
This is a stunning story that takes a look at how true love can handle heartbreak, and come out even stronger on the other side with honesty, and humor, and I loved every moment!

Josh and Gemma the Second Time Around.

I wanted to like this book. However, from the first few pages I had a bad feeling that it was not going to live up to my expectations. It was incredibly predictable, from the coma, to "learning to FEEL again," to having wild sex scenes out of nowhere.

I think reading the first book in the series might have helped the flow of the story a bit, as this was definitely NOT a standalone novel. The characters clearly had backstory that was not well-detailed picking up this book from scratch.

Overall, I was left feeling like the book was predictable and not well-developed.

If you have not read Josh and Gemma Make a Baby - you must. Then read Josh and Gemma the Second Time Around. These books make you laugh and are very entertaining.
The audiobook was entertaining, funny, sad, disgusting and everything in between. The narrator did a great job.
I combined listening and reading on the first book - Josh and Gemma Make a Baby. On this book I listened to the whole thing.
I was excited to see that there was going to be another book about Josh and Gemma. When I read the title I thought "on no" a divorce. How sad.
You learn to love Josh and Gemma in the first book. They are both very interesting and well developed characters. I was so excited to hear about their life at the beginning of this book.. Just what I imaged except for the jello molds.
I was not prepared for the rest of this book. It was not at all what I expected. At times a beautiful love story and at other times, life was very tough. This is very true to life for all of us - at times life is beautiful and easy but at other times very tough and tragic. There are twists in this book that I did not anticipated.
Read and Enjoy!

I ended up reading the Ebook ARC--see other review
I liked it but not as much as 1st book--perhaps the audio would have made me enjoy it more since that was the format I used for book 1

Okay, this book is literally an emotional rollercoaster. There were times when I literally stopped because I couldn't stand to know what happened next. There are so many ups and downs for this book. I definitely was rooting for Gemma and Josh the entire time. I can't imagine being in their situation, but I definitely loved how everything turned out. This book has emotional loss, brain issues, fiance, enemies to friends, and so much more. I haven't read the first book and now I really need to.

This story started off a bit overly gooey and repetitive, alluding a bit too heavily to the incoming doom. If that is putting you off from finishing, let me tell you, FINISH THE STORY. This is one of the most heartbreaking and beautiful stories I think I’ve ever read (listened to). It’s bittersweet but optimistic and encouraging. It shows that just because your life doesn’t look like how you planned it to doesn’t mean that you can’t love it. I would be attentive to the TWs for anyone with pregnancy or fertility issues as it can be a bit descriptive about some parts. In regards to the villain of the story, I was resistant to his part in the storyline, but the process makes complete sense in the long run! (Note: makes sense but isn’t logical or right haha emotions can be that way)
Overall, please give this amazing book a chance bc it’s a bit of a long road.

It was nice to revisit characters that I knew and I had read about previously and I was wondering how the story could have continued, given how it ended.

This was poignant, funny and just lovely to listen to. I did find it a little tricky to differentiate between the 2 males at times and had to keep reminding myself which was talking, as they’re voiced by the same person.

The story was lighthearted, but dealt with some tough topics well. I really enjoyed it.

I went into listening to this book blindly because I did not read the first book, but I heard such wonderful things about Sarah Ready. I could not have loved this book more than I had predicted, and I am putting the first book on my need-to-read list right now. Gemma and Josh, the Second Time Around, is the sequel to Gemma and Josh Have A Baby and a continuation of Gemma and Josh's relationship while they battle new obstacles.

Gemma and Josh are finally at the altar after preparing for their big wedding. They are having a baby, and they are excited about their future. An unexpected event happens, and everything changes. They are unsure if their relationship will survive after everything.

I really loved this book. The story had a good mix of light humor and felt-good moments. It was easy to get caught up in the story and root for Gemma and Josh. I thought it was clever to use Ian as a pawn to have Gemma realize that Josh is the one for her. That was a fun twist and made the story fun to listen to. I feel like the story was trying to make Josh a villain at first because no reasonable person leaves their partner unattended while being in a coma for months to go to California to work and be the hot topic in all tabloid magazines. I was not a fan of Josh most of the book until I realized that he genuinely loves Gemma, and his odd behavior was not what it looked like. Josh had many moments in the book that I had to shake my head for him, but he redeemed himself. The narration by Erin Mallon was excellent, and the story was addicting to read!

Thank you Netgalley for this arc.

I was really looking forward to this bool because I loved the 1st one in the series but for some reason it wasn't what I had expected.
I couldn't get past 55% and had to mark it as a DNF.

DNF @ 30%

I cannot with this book and I’m truly so sad about it! After loving Josh and Gemma Make a Baby, I fully expected this to be a sweet story about their life post-baby and getting married but that’s not what this was. This was dark and sad and a sequel that was not needed at all.

Essentially, Gemma had eclampsia which caused her to have the baby and then go into a coma for three months, when she wakes up Ian Fortune is at her bed side and she has no idea what happened. We come to find out that Gemma has permanent neurological damage and has to relearn how to feel.

I only got 30% of the way through before I knew I couldn’t continue on, the plot was just strange and made me uncomfortable. On the bright side, I enjoy Sarah Ready’s writing and will give her other books a read instead.

I absolutely loved Josh and Gemma (The First Time Around), but I was definitely not a fan of them during this second round. The plot twist was interesting, but I felt that the story did not really go anywhere. It was not worthy of an entire novel. I was not as invested in the characters as I was the first time around. I wish Josh and Gemma's ending lived in my mind and not on paper.

A three star read for Josh and Gemma the Second Time Around. It was pretty meh and I found myself listening at top speed to get through the novel.
