A heartwarming, feel-good story about community, faith, and family.

The ladies of Alexandertol, Kansas, decide to form a benevolence group, to help those in need in their communities. Widowed schoolteacher Augusta Dyck, sees the need of Konrad Rempel, an independent widower with two energetic twin boys. While Martina Krahn the group's founder, hopes to find meaning and a child to fill the hole in her unhappy home through the group's work.

This heartwarming and faith filled story is told from the multiple perspectives of Konrad, Augusta, and Martina. Augusta has a big heart for others, and is raising a young daughter of her own, but is always looking for ways to lift others up. Everyone adores Konrad's boys, who are full of energy, but are eager to please. Konrad does the best he can for his sons, and that is what drives him throughout.

My heart went out to Martina, at first it is easy to dislike her, until you see what lies beyond her somewhat abrasive attitude, is actually a lot of heartbreak and hurt.

Overall, a highly enjoyable story with likable characters, adorable children, plenty of heart, and a solid foundation of faith, set in a small prairie community.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a fun story about a community of women and how they grew and changed as they came together to help others. The story follows Augusta, Martina and Konrad. Two members of a brand new women's club created to help their community and a kind widower who was the first one the community reached out to help.

Augusta (a widow herself) just wants to help, Konrad thinks he can raise his twin boys on his own and Martina has her own selfish secret of why she started the club. However, each grows to realize that they need each other and the community to help them through difficult times.

I found the story believable, endearing and heartwarming. It was a beautiful journey of how sometimes supporting others can be the help you need. It also has a message that we can do it all on our own. We need our friends to help us through. I love the friendship that does eventually develop through some of the characters. But also knowing that sometimes what you think you need is not really what you need at all. Faith and friendship are the best things when you are dealing with struggles in life.

This book also goes to show that just because you see someone daily doesn't necessarily mean you know what is really going on behind closed doors.

The storytelling is excellent and I hope to read others about this community.

A Tapestry of Grace is a great novel about the challenges of being a dealing with childlessness, being a widow, and raising a child as a single parent. It was written from different perspectives. The character development was great. It is very God centered and enjoyable to read for that reason alone.
The tension of one of the characters being so mentally unstable that they were willing to cause serious family confllct and division in order to take another person’s child was just too much for me. And another character needed a little more care toward a person who had an unrequited interest in her. Just my personal conflict with A Tapestry of Grace. And I think there will be others who have dealt with any of these issues and find compassion in dealing with the topics in the book. I received a free copy of A Tapestry of Grace from Net Galley with no obligations other than an honest opinion.

Set in middle America, in a small town, the book focuses on the work of a newly formed benevolent society. The women of the group look for causes to support. They settle on helping a recent widower with his twin sons for the summer. Schoolteacher Augusta Dyck, also a widow, has insight on the boys. But, childless Martina Krahn aims to watch the boys, in hopes that she and her husband can whisk them away from their father to provide a superior, two parent household. (That sounds malicious, but it is more desperate than evil.) The father, Konrad, is just overwhelmed with work, keeping the house going, and caring for the boys. He is, though, a good father.

When a group of Kansas women start a Frauenverein, a benevolent society devoted to aiding widows and orphans, life changes for more than just the hurting people they seek to help. Konrad is a widow with 3 mischievous boys who needs help caring for them while he is working. Augusta is a teacher who has time on her hands during school break. Romance and misunderstandings abound!
Kim Vogel Sawyer is a wonderful writer! I love her books and this one was wonderful!

This story takes place in a small Mennonite community in Kansas in the late 19th century. An austere, childless woman, Martina Kahn, approached the women in their church to start a women's club to help people in their community with benevolent acts of service. Augusta Dyck was a schoolteacher in the community who had lost her loving husband and was just focused on raising her only daughter. She had no intention of remarrying but she wanted t0 help her friend, Hannah's husband and boys as much as she could. Hannah had passed during childbirth leaving her husband and young twin boys struggling following her death. As she offered her services to help watch the boys during their summer break so their father, Konrad could work without the distraction and difficulty of keeping the young boys safe, things begin to change as Konrad begins to see that he needs to find a new wife to help him with raising his sons. He solicits the help of Augusta in the search. What will come of the search? Will a perfect match be found?

I have read other books by this author. Her stories are clean and wholesome to read and include Christian values in the stories.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

The Tapestry of Grace is a book that shows how when we make our own plans and try to get God to fulfill them it doesn’t always go the way we plan. Sawyer writes a novel that shows how God can work things out in the way we least expect it. This book has romance, hope, grace and inspiration all woven together.

My gratitude to publisher Waterbrook for a NetGalley copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

Another winner:
I really enjoyed this gentle and heartwarming faith-filled story. There was a strong sense of community in this historical Kansas Mennonite town and I enjoyed watching the citizens come together and grow stronger together.
I loved how the author wove the faith elements throughout the story in a way that felt authentic and applicable. All of the characters had to learn to lean on God and wait for Him to reveal the plans that He had for their lives which is a lesson for us all.

Kim Vogel Sawyer is one of my favorite authors, was excited she had a new release, and having an opportunity to read it. I was far from being disappointed with The Tapestry of Grace. I thought it was a beautiful story and highly recommend it. Five stars.

This book was fantastic. It featured community charity work, diverse personalities, and a sweet romance. I liked that the romance was between a blacksmith with a pair of rambunctious sons and a teacher with a book-loving daughter.

It took a long time for Martina to grow on me. She was initially so manipulative and rude! And to plot to take someone’s child…? I have personal reasons for disliking that goal, but the woman was exquisitely well written, and I looked for every opportunity to let her grow on me. Eventually, she did, thankfully.

Content: miscarriages as a theme, alcohol

Really sweet story! I have loved Kim Vogel Sawyer's books since high school when I first read one of her books. She is an amazing author that captures your heart and makes you feel like you are part of the story. This was another beautifully written story by her that makes you want to meet the characters in real life. I love how you see them grow throughout the story and also work through their differences. Great book to have on your shelf!

This was such a sweet historical fiction romance. Like many of her other books, this is not just a romance. It is an emotional tale about community and family. I was rooting for all three narrators and I was so happy to see their growth and development throughout the story. There were so many sweet scenes throughout the story that were just so heartwarming. If you are looking for a cozy read with some depth, perfect for a rainy day at home, this is it!

My original review did not save. When I realized this and got around to writing a new one, I was a little fuzzy on some of the details I had included in my first review.

The descriptions in this book are so rich, whether they are characters, settings of life stories. The time frame is the late 1890's. Main character Augusta Dyck is a widowed school teacher with an eleven year old daughter. Her late husband left them provided for very nicely. This book focuses on a community service project started by a woman who is a busybody. She has ulterior motives for this project. The healing in her family was one of my favorite parts of the book. The third character we spend a lot of time with is a widower with young twin sons. I read an electronic version courtesy of Net Galley.

The Tapestry of Grace is a sweet friends-to-romance story wherein a Mennonite widow and widower find a second chance at love. The author realistically portrays the emotional impact of infertility. She also touched on the issue of alcoholism and its effect on individuals and their families. I enjoyed reading about the orphan train children and how communities would adopt them. The characters are relatable and I especially liked the children's characters and the authenticity they gave to the story. Readers who enjoy historical fiction will not want to miss reading The Tapestry of Grace. I received a complimentary copy .of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

This was a good read and I enjoyed it. It is a story of healing on many levels for many of the characters in this book. I also loved the theme of grace throughout this book. I appreciate the lessons taught through the characters' experiences. Isn't the cover pretty too?

If you enjoy historical fiction this is a good book for you to check out. I wish there was another book to find out what happens next in the lives of these characters.

It was somewhat predictable but there were parts I didn't expect as well so that kept it interesting.

This realistic historical tale focusing on women from a Russian Mennonite immigrant group in Kansas offers a compelling exploration of women’s roles in nineteenth-century society and of ministering to others in need—including a widower with active twin sons. The story touches the heart as it draws readers in. The conclusion turns out as expected, but we follow quite a twisted trail to arrive at the satisfying conclusion. It would make a good choice for a book club discussion. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own. #TheTapestryofGrace #NetGalley

Another great Kansas based historical fiction from Kim Vogel Sawyer. In 1897 Alexandertol Kansas, during summer break, the women of the church create a society to help widows and orphans. Three different women in the group have three different sets of plans for the families. Will they open their hearts to God's plan or create more turmoil?

I love the writing of KVS. I was so blessed to be able to read and review this most recent book. The author does a great job of bringing the closure we so desperately seek.

Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this title. All opinions are my own.

Tapestry of Grace tells the story of the town of Alexandertol, Kansas' creation of a benevolent society to care for German widows and orphans. They learned about it after hearing about it from a town in New York. Augusta is glad for the new endeavor as school is on break for a short time and she needs something to occupy her time. Martina also is glad to be involved as it will give her a break from her family. There winds us being unexpected blessings from this endeavor for not only those involved but those who are on the receiving end of the help. A great story of coming together.
