This book is so well illustrated. The story is pretty straight forward with very few words, but the pictures tell the story. The kids enjoyed looking at what changed page to page, and they liked the ending.
I've read it multiple times with our way them! So good all around.
I couldn't find it listed on Storygraph so I couldn't post a public review there.
Corner by Zo-O is a very quiet book that is mostly wordless. It shows how important it is to connect with others. Heart warming pictures that were very engaging. I will be using this one in the classroom.
Thank you to NetGalley and Owlkids Books for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
Corner is a beautifully crafted book. I can think of a dozen ways to use this book in the classroom and I can't wait to share it with my undergraduates. The illustrations are beautiful and offer an interesting perspective to design.
A "mostly" wordless picture book explores transcenditalism. We don't need much to be happy, but we need human connection. We can get lost in our craft an still have a need.
Beautiful images that let the corner truly be the reader's.
A mostly wordless picture book, Corner's storytelling is beautifully done through illustrations. Each page we read, my child was picking up on the details that changed at every turn.
A tiny treasure that I hope will be read by many, many children! The gentle message of remembering to furnish your life with friends, not just furnishings, may even be of comfort as kids recall the story later in life when they make the big step to move out on their own.
This story of crow, settling into his little corner of the world is told in a questioning, non-judgmental and never preachy way. It gently challenges a child to literally think outside the box. The artwork is perfect - gentle yet powerful, drawn softly and cozily.
I highly recommend this book for any child - and it wouldn't hurt adults to take its meaning to heart, either.
My thanks to author Zo-O, OwlKids Books, and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital advance review copy of this book. This review is my honest and unbiased opinion.
5 stars!
Absolutely heart-warming. Wonderful illustrations. Super cozy. And a conclusion with all the feels and love. I absolutely ADORE this wee treasure and proof that there are CORNERS of the world full of peace, JOY and incredible souls.
Corner is a wildly charming book of very few words. Crow finds a cozy corner and slowly transforms it into a home. This is all about the comfort and peace of solitude as well as the joy of finding others, when you have safe place to retreat to. There are very, very, very few words in this book. The magnificent art carries the story on it's capable shoulders. Perfect for a shy child or anyone who enjoys a quiet place.
A wonderful mostly wordless picture book showing a bored crow sitting in a corner. He decides to decorate it, he eats, he reads, but is still bored. He then draws all over the walls but decides it’s still quiet. Ke knows something is missing. What is it?
In Corner by Zo-O, we watch our crow friend build up their corner more and more, searching for something they cannot seem to add to their room. This sweet picture book is wonderfully illustrated and largely visual story that will make a fantastic addition to the collection of story lovers who love to interpret books together as they go.
Love this little book! The illustrations are brilliant. Littles will enjoy watching the crow build his home in an empty corner and decorating it. It's a nice lesson in needing others in our lives as well. Kids will enjoy the story. Kudos Zo-O!
A super charming and utterly adorable story about a crow who creates a space for themselves and begins looking for a connection. The artwork was just adorable and the story was just so cozy and sweet. I definitely am buying this book when it releases because it honestly was such a fun read and I found it to be so charming.
