What a great book! Do Fire Ants Fight Fires is a book with factoids to tease a child's curiosity. It's a great book to kick off further reading and send a kid "down the rabbit hole," searching for more books on the intriguing subjects from this book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Owlkids books for the ARC of this!
Very cute explanation of animal jobs! My 6 year old enjoyed it and was surprised by a lot of them! The art style was very adorable.
An excellent introduction to non-fiction for early grades! This fun, fascinating book imagines various animals performing jobs (building skyscrapers, baking bread, babysitting) and then explains whether the reality aligns with the idea--and the answer is often surprising!
This is wonderfully engaging and interesting. The art is lively and detailed and the explanations are succinct while still being informative. This would be a great addition to school and classroom libraries!
This fun book takes silly jobs like fire ants fighting fires and dolphins becoming teachers, and then explains what they actually do. For example, fire ants actually cause burning when they bite and dolphins teach their young how to fish. The font is large and well spaced, so it is easy to read. The illustrations are interesting and will pique the interest of young readers. It is a fun twist on a typical non-fiction text that I think young readers will love. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers of children in the 5-8 range. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this great book!
This fun book, written in a question and answer format, has engaging illustrations. It asks questions about silly things an animal might do, but has a serious answer that teaches interesting facts to the reader about that species. Students will love how fact-filled the books are balanced with the goofy pictures.
A cute picture book for kids explaining about fire ants. I got to say the title was perfect this one. Because to me it honestly seems like a question that kids would actually ask.
Although at times it seemed a bit of a reach from the job that was teased to the job that the animal was doing, I enjoy that this book tried to show children some parallels between their lives and the lives of animals in nature. Best suited as a partner read with an adult or used in a lesson, I think this book would be a nice introduction to a science unit. I think adding some real photos might have enhanced the book a bit.
This is a cute straightforward book that shows children what jobs animals have in the wild.
The illustrations are nice, watch out for the page with the spider, it might scare some kids because it's a good depiction of what a real spider looks like.
Very informative book.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.
