I found this book to be fascinating! It’s not like anything I’ve read before! The writing style is very unique and it is told in like a report form. The author discusses many aspects of marriage and how expectations have evolved as well as gender roles. The fact that earlier marriage people never really dated they had quick courtships and rushed into marriage and then found themselves unhappy. I liked the concept at the beginning the trial marriage in a way that’s what we do today. Living with our partners first and then marrying later if at all - whether this has reduced rates of divorce at all I don’t think it has. Lots to think about … she also talks about the concept of “work” that a happy marriage is not just a given but something you have to work at and I agree. Thank you netgalley for proving me with a copy. All thoughts are mine.
This is a different genre than i usually read but I actually really liked it. The cover is really cool.
