Anna todd’s writing is so nostalgic for me. I remember reading After on wattpad. This book is engaging. Readers who loved after will like this one as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Receiving an advanced copy was a delightful surprise. I believe both existing fans and newcomers will find it equally enjoyable.
I really liked Anna Todd after reading the after series but this series that made me love her "the Falling" was instantly my favorite book and I couldn't put it down. And the follow-up did not disappoint. It was a bit longer to read and less eventful but with the knowledge of the first book it was interesting to get to know Kael's point of view.
I am very curious to see how this will continue in the third book.
So deeply intense. The bond that was formed in the first book has developed into something else entirely and I found it beautiful to watch.
I wish this book focused more on Karina and Kael instead of the other filler content. This story felt too long and I found myself skimming a lot of the story where it wasn’t focused on Karina or Kael. When they would talk about the stuff from their past and how Kael did wrong by Karina without really explaining more than what we already knew, and reflecting back to when Kael was hurt during a deployment but it was also vague, I found myself skimming those parts. There wasn’t enough explanation to add to the story and those parts felt repetitive to me.
This book had a completely different feel than the first one, and I don’t think this one compared. I was left wanting more after the first book, but this one was just okay to me. I want to read the last installment to see how it all turns out, but I don’t feel that anticipation like I did at the end of the first book.
I had high hopes for this one, but didn't enjoy it the way I hoped for. I found it boring and struggled with finishing it. I love Anna Todd and will look forward to her next one.
I've liked this series, but this book gave me a difficult time to finish due to the political views placed within and the focus on internet roasting that seemed a little.....immature. It certainly is a messy and complicated romance, and is able to keep you interested. The characters do experience growth and it does have development, I just had a hard time finishing and enjoying the book.
The Burning by Anna Todd is book two of the Brightest Stars series. It took a while for me to get into this one. The first book , The Falling, was so fast paced and I loved it - this one took a long time to take off. The plot was predictable but I didn't mind it. I think we've all come to expect similar writing from this author as the After series and this one isn't hitting the mark for me.
One of my favorite authors! Loved this book so much!I highly recommend all her books! The after series is one of my favorites!
Another great love story by anna todd! will ready anything this woman writes. What a cliffhanger ending!? i cant wait for book 3 to see how this story wraps up!
Karina and Kael are back!!
Their relationship is complicated, tumultuous and you feel anger, sorrow for both characters.
While we get to learn more about their trauma/past , things are complicated and it’s a love/ hate relationship in a way . Both characters just need to find their way to each other …
I’m curious to see how this will unfold in book 3
When she met Kael Martin she thought just maybe she had met a man worthy of her heart, but it didn't take long for her to learn otherwise. He betrayed her and it's just not something she can forgive him for, she's tried but it's useless. But she's also learned that her feelings for him run deeper than she originally thought and escaping those feelings is futile.
He wants a future with her that she isn't so sure she is the right woman for, because that would mean taking risks and finding a way to forgive and she isn't so sure she can do that...
The Burning is an emotionally charged story that is destined to make you feel things, your heart and head will be a wreck the whole way through. These two want a future they aren't so sure they can have, with outside forces and bad decisions that were made in the past the deck is literally stacked against them. But the love they have for one another is so deep that it's impossible to let go of, they are ingrained in one another's hearts and that's the kind of love you have no choice but to hold on to.
It's a messy and complicated romance that is bound to wreck your heart every step of the way, but I promise it's worth it, the happier moments will eventually come. I cannot wait to see what the pages of the next installment hold for these two... book three can't come soon enough!!! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is Book 2 of the Brightest Stars Series. Karina Fischer likes that small, relatively safe life at Fort Benning. She has too many deep scars and too many people have let her down in her 21 years. Kael Martin has his share of scars as well, but Karina left a very deep scar in him. When their lives begin to fall apart, can they find their way back to each other and piece their lives back together?
This is the second book in the Brightest Stars trilogy. It was a captivating read that kept me hooked. The prologue had me on my seat, eagerly trying to unravel the funeral mystery. Kael and Karina's love story continues to tug at my heartstrings, and their passionate connection is beautifully portrayed. Though secondary characters had a significant presence, they added depth to the narrative. Elodie's inclusion brought some intriguing twists, keeping me engrossed in the plot. The military backdrop provided an exciting and unique setting for the story, adding to the overall appeal. While the book was substantial, it allowed for an in-depth exploration of the character's emotions and experiences. I enjoyed this one but cannot wait to see how this enchanting trilogy concludes.
I never got to read Todds first series so I figured I would start with this one before I go there. I really liked it and I feel like it made me even more excited to start the after series!
The Burning
✍️ Anna Todd
I have been waiting so long to find out what happens next with Karina and Kael! I’m always so intertwined in their story. It’s messy, raw, beautiful and real.
I love the intimacy of their relationship. I appreciated how evident their connection was in this novel. I literally won’t be able to handle it, if they end up apart at the end of their story!!😩
I couldn’t put this novel down, and I really enjoyed getting to know some of the other characters even more. I can’t wait to find out what happens next (please, soon!). And holy cliff hanger, Anna Todd!! 😱 Anna’s writing is so beautiful and captivating- y’all go read this series!!

The Burning is book two in A Brightest Stars series by Anna Todd.
Anna Todd has done it again! Woah she is just too damn good!
I love how it’s kind of like a slow burn compared to her other books.
Overall the book is great. The writing level just amazing as usual.
The storyline and plot were fantastic.
I felt that the characters were real and not unbelievable.
I’ll read anything she creates.

of this amazing eARC!
The military romance aspect is what drew me to this book. I’m a veteran’s wife and loved reading all the details of on post, active duty life. There were so many details that Todd added to the story that made it so relatable and brought back good memories for me, but my goodness were there details, way too many. It felt like every move the characters made was detailed and not in an interesting way, but more like a way to fill the pages. It took a long time to get into it and get any kind of worthy action between the characters. I really liked both main characters though so I read on to figure out what would happen only to be left with a major cliffhanger at the end that should’ve been the end of a chapter, not of the whole entire book! As much as I want to know what happens with Kael and Karina, I’m not sure I’m up for another couple hundred pages of this 😅
Overall the PTSD, anxiety, insecurities and countless other struggles Todd made the characters face made them relatable and made the story have depth which is the only reason I enjoyed the book.
Thank you NetGalley, Wattpad and Anna Todd for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
I like so many was obsessed with the After series (before it came to the big screen). So naturally, when I saw this ARC I hit request no questions asked. I hadn’t realized at the time that this is the second book in the series - so before going in, make sure to read book 1: The Falling - first.
This is an emotional rollercoaster of a story with an extremely, extremely slow burn. Book 2 picks up after that cliffhanger we were left with in book 1.
With classic Anna Todd tension in the mix, and inner monologue many love - I honestly tried to love this one, but I can’t help but feel disappointed after reading.
I honestly won’t be continuing this series. But, if you love Anna Todd - I highly recommend giving this series a try as every reader’s opinion and tastes are different!
I really loved this one. I haven’t read any of Anna Todd’s previous works, but I’m a huge admirer of her work ethic and ability to write as a busy mom. This was a very eye-opening portrait of romance and life on a military base, trauma, and navigating relationships with PTSD.
