Fun, fabulous, steamy and passionate! "The True Love Experiment" by Christina Lauren was so lovable and relatable, I completely enjoyed it. Excellent concept and premise, impossible to put down and not fall in love with these characters. Thank you NetGalley, the authors and publisher for the advance reader copy. All opinions are my own.

What a fantastic follow-up to The Soulmate Equation. I adored the character of Fizzy in The Soulmate Equation. She was the secondary character in that story but absolutely store the scenes she was in, so I'm so glad she got her own book.
In this book (can be read as a standalone but I think it helps having read the first in the duology), Fizzy is in a rut in her life. She has writer's block and even worse, she's in a rut with her romantic life.
Enter Connor, a dreamy single-dad who is producing a dating reality show (he'd rather be producing his beloved documentaries). Connor thinks Fizzy would be perfect as the star of the show with her dynamic personality and as a beloved romance author. Fizzy agrees but with a lot of caveats. All of the male suitors have to fall into a romance trope (the one who got away, the cinnamon roll, vampire, hot nerd, etc). However, it's not the suitors Fizzy has chemistry with...
I gobbled this story up. Fizzy kept me laughing and I loved the dynamic between Fizzy and Connor. This was a great take on the dating reality show with the different male tropes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster for the e-galley.

I loved this book so much! Fizzy is now one of my favorite heroines of all time and her relationship with Connor was perfection. The whole idea that a romance author ends up on a dating show is just brilliant. I would highly recommend this book, and will post about it on my social media after it's published. Thanks for giving me the advance read!

If you need a book to get you out of your reading rut, this is it. Set in the reality dating TV world, this is a sequel to CL's The Soulmate Equation. While not essential to read first, I highly recommend. While I love nearly everything CL writes, The True Love Experiment is even better than it's predecessor! Fizzy, a romance author, is experiencing writer's block as well as a stall in her love life. Fizzy is the girl I'd love to be-sex-positive and carefree, she seems like the life of the party. She's witty, confident and gorgeous. She's also at the top of her field. Connor, the Executive Producer of the show, is tall, British, handsome, a dedicated father, and so well written. He seems so perfect. You cannot help but root for their love affair. The True Love Experiment does a few things very well 1) the characters fall for each other fast-sometimes "slow burn" is excruciating! 2) while there is some guesswork as to what each character knows about how the other is feeling, there isn't much. They both know that they are falling in love with each other. That was refreshing. 3) The crafting of a strong female lead. Fizzy is flawed enough to be relatable, but so aspirational as well. I loved this book. It was a great escape and will be an excellent beach read this summer. Thank you to Gallery Books and of course to Christina Lauren for the ARC. This book releases on May 16th!

Christina Lauren came through with another adorable tale of romance. I loved the dynamic between Fizzy and Connor, and it was so well described I could absolutely see their little interactions. I felt invested in the reality show like it was actually happening. Definitely recommend especially for Christina Lauren fans.

Such a fun romance! I loved going behind the scenes of reality TV, with some healthy boundaries in place that felt good and protective of our characters. Lots of build-up and two main characters that were easy to root for. I'll admit that the timing of the romance didn't feel completely ethical to me, and that was a bit distracting. Open door romance and a fun follow-up to The Soulmate Equation (although that one doesn't have to be read to enjoy this one, there would be spoilers if you read them in reverse.) I found this to be another fun read by Christina Lauren.

This book was so good!! I loved fizzy in the soulmate equation and I was so happy to learn she was getting her own book! She’s so outgoing, confident & unapologetically herself! This book felt like a letter to romance readers! The plot of this book was so fun & different I really enjoyed it! I absolutely adored Connor Prince III! He was very quiet & reserved but being with fizzy we saw this soft, kind-hearted side of him. They had the best chemistry & banter!! I found myself laughing at a lot of points throughout the book! They were just so cute and sweet! Also getting to see Jess, Juno, & River again was everything!! I really enjoyed this book🩷

Thank you to Netgalley, Gallery Books & Christina Lauren for the eARC!!

Romance novelist Fizzy Chen gets her own story in this delectable standalone follow-up to The Soulmate Equation. This is one of the seasoned writing duo’s best efforts, with palpable chemistry, serious tension, winning humor, and a satisfying resolution.

I was really excited to receive this ARC. It's a sequel to The Soulmate Experiment, and while I remember really liking that book, I didn't remember it very well and I was nervous this would make me reading The True Love Experiment not as good. I'm just mentioning that in case you share this fear. Don't worry, it was completely unfounded, it's a very loose sequel following the best friend character from that book. While Jess and River are side characters in this book, you really do not need to remember anything from The Soulmate Experiment to read this. Christina Lauren’s new book is a sexy rom com filled with so much banter, chemistry but also lots of miscommunication. The book was snarky and fun and I really enjoyed this work-place romance. The characters were so well thought out, and I found myself sucked into this story from the very first page. Plot was entertaining and interesting and the romance feels were great.

Fizzy is a famous romance author who has lost her spark. Lately, she can’t seem to write or be attracted to men like she used to. When she is approached by Connor, a producer looking to make a new reality dating show, she is skeptical. She agrees only on the condition that they both do joy excursions to bring joy into their lives before filming starts.

It takes a while to get to the actual dating show in this book because of the joy excursions. However, that allows for more Fizzy and Connor chemistry building. Overall, a good romance with lots of fun characters!

Another amazing Christina Lauren hit! I didn’t know how much I needed Fizzy’s book until I started this, and oh boy am I glad they delivered!

Really cute story. The main character is pretty funny throughout the whole book. There were a few parts where she was a bit over the top with how infatuated she gets but overall I enjoyed reading it. I loved Connor's character! He was the perfect male lead. I also loved the relationships with the two kids- Connor's daughter and Fizzy's niece.

The True Love Experiment was the first book I have read by Christina Lauren., After reading this delightful and entertaining story, I can't wait to go back and read more from this best friend writing team! It has humor, romance, and a little drama thrown in. The characters are brought to life and lovable. Several of the characters were in another novel by the writing duo. Felicity Chen, known as Fizzy, is a romance writer who has stalled out on her writing career and in her personal life. Conner, a documentary filmmaker, is given a reality series which he doesn't want to do. This is where the novel picks up. Fizzy stars in the reality romance show with a twist. We follow some laughs and some ups and downs as the reality show and their relationship develop. I would highly recommend this book! I had a hard time putting it down and couldn't wait to see how it all ended. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC!

I did not know that I needed a Fizzy-centered romance, but I did! This is such a wonderful story - i love that the main characters are older and have career and kids and are still figuring things out. I love that these romance authors wrote such a fun book about a romance author! I read this in one night and then went back and read it again.

I LOVED the Soulmate Equation and was super excited for the sequel. Fizzy is... ok. I am not a huge fan of her as a character, but I did love Connor. He was wonderful, and as a single dad, it was just heartwarming to see. Loved the pop culture references and the cameos from characters in the first book, but Fizzy was a bit too much for me personally.

Cute, swoony, and great banter. I also appreciated that this one had a more serious tone compared to some other other novels. It felt more adult in a good way.

✨BOOK REVIEW✨

The True Love Experiment by @christinalauren

Christina Lauren blew me away with this one! While I really enjoyed the prequel “The Soulmate Equation” — Fizzy’s story is now one of my all-time favorites.

Fizzy was a great side character in the first book, but you find she has so much depth in this one! If you’re worried you’ve forgotten the details/storyline of “The Soulmate Equation” don’t worry — it had been awhile since I read it and CL does a great job of sprinkling in little details to refresh your memory!

Fizzy is a romance author and she is stuck in a little rut (okay a massive rut) in both her personal life and in her career. She gets cast as the lead role in a reality dating show and who is the producer? Sweet, sweet Connor who happens to be a single dad, with a British accent. The 8 guys are also cast for the show in hopes of winning Fizzy’s heart but Fizzy seems to only have eyes for Connor. What could go wrong?!

Read if you love:
💖Hilarious characters! Fizzy is a treat, I could not stop laughing out loud. This also made the banter top notch!!
💖Single dad trope
💖Workplace romance/forced proximity
💖Reality dating shows
💖Mature, mid-to-late thirties, characters

This is definitely one to preorder!! The ending was the CUTEST and I think a lot of people will find this story extremely relatable and fun. OUT 5/16!

Huge thank you to @gallerybooks @netgalley @christinalauren for the eARC in exchange for an honest review 😍

Can I tell you how much I love Christina Lauren? Because I really, really do. They are amazing when writing tension (both romantic, sexual, and other) in characters' relationships. I don't remember Fizzy from The Soulmate Equation, but I greatly enjoyed her fun personality and this story. Seriously, Christina Lauren are a bright light in this world.
