Well, that was just cute. I liked Fizzy in The Soulmate Equation, so it was a no-brainer to request the book that featured Fizzy as the protagonist. And, I'm not going to lie, this book is definitely not for everyone. Fizzy says what she wants and does what she wants and, in return, that can come off as uncouth, unsympathetic, or even bratty. However, I have no issues with any of those things, so I definitely enjoyed this one!

It's definitely your standard Christina Lauren/romcom book. However, Fizzy and Connor are a great couple, and Stevie is definitely adorable. The reality show TV back drop is great, and I like the unique spin the book puts on that trope. In the end, everyone gets their HEA. And really, when you're reading a romcom book, isn't that all you want?

The Soulmate Equation was Christina Lauren’s best book in years, so I was super excited for The Truelove Experiment. For the most part it completely lived up to my hype. This book was super fun (Fun lake fizzy!) Of course I had some issue with the way this bachelor style TV show was rolled out, but I ultimately don’t care about that. What I care about is liking my two main characters. And I really liked Fizzy and Connor. More importantly I liked them together. This is a book about chemistry and this couple has chemistry. This is top-tier Christina Lauren banter, and I’m here for it!

A good read -- I thought the characters were well-developed and I really enjoyed their dynamic/chemistry. Really enjoyed getting to see Fizzy's story played out and loved seeing a romance novelist as the lead character.

As a fan of reality TV, this book was super fun to read. You hope for the ending you want, but enough twists to keep you guessing. Loved this book

I loved Christina Lauren's The Soulmate Equation and was excited to read Fizzy's story in The True Love Experiment, but it left me with mixed feelings.

Things I liked:
Fizzy's personality and sense of humor; she basically put the com in romcom.
Fizzy and Connor's finding joy adventures; they were basically dating and in denial.
Connor as a single dad; Connor's relationship with his daughter Stevie was super sweet.
River, Jess and Juno; getting to see so much of my favorites from The Soulmate Equation was an unexpected treat.

Things I didn't like:
The Bachelor-like reality show setting; Fizzy basically dating 8 other guys was not enjoyable.
Fizzy being the one to apologize; She had a very understandable reaction to Connor's confession.
The quick resolution at the end; it was a bit rushed and anticlimactic.

Overall, The True Love Experiment was a solid 3 star read.

Wow!! How do I start a review when I am speechless!

This was my first read from the duo that is Christina Lauren and I am completely OBSESSED!!!!!!!

The Premise-a successful romance writer (who is in a slump) is cast for the lead in a reality dating TV show and falls for the show’s producer (single dad and British). There are 8 men (each their own unique archetype) that the audience gets to vote off. However-throughout filming, Fizzy and Connor begin to fall for each other. The flirting and banter between them is witty and humorous that it makes you fall in love with their characters while laughing out loud. I was rooting for them from the start-even with the introduction of some pretty neat bachelors they had chosen for the show.
The Characters-Fizzy is that feisty, selfless, loveable woman who we dream of becoming. Connor is the positive, calm, supportive man we dream of sleeping next to.
The Ending-THE ENDING! Ugh-incredible! I was smiling for pages and not wanting the story to end. I don't want to give any spoilers away but it was the perfect way to end a perfect book.

I am fixated with CL and am now a forever fan. I am so excited to read more of their books that are on their way to my house as I am writing this. TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!

This was cute! Not my favorite by them, because I wasn’t the biggest fan of Fizzy, but I did think this was cute and it was a fun concept!!

Christina Lauren never disappoints. I don't know why, but I didn't realize this was going to be related to The Soulmate Equation, so that was a little treat. It was nice to see what Jess and River were up to. I loved the new characters as well and the way the romance unfolded. I also really enjoyed the reality tv element of it (I'm a big Bravo fan). I smiled so much while reading this book, and I could not put it down. I'm not sure if I'll think about it in the future, but I really enjoyed it while reading it. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this ARC!

I LOVED this book! From the first pages, I was laughing out loud and hooked. The pacing of this book was excellent along with the character development. This book has so much pining and sexual tension and it's so well done! The True Love Experiment is everything you love about a romance book with heart, humor, and authenticity. This is a stand-out from CLo!

I was so happy to receive an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Christina and Lauren have done it again! They are masters of this genre and their sequel to The Soulmate Equation lives up to their prior body of work. In this case, a romance writer (meta much?) is dating a reality show producer. We all know the familiar tropes, but the twists, turns, tensions, and feelings to get to finish line are an enjoyable ride.

I felt so lucky to get an advance copy of The True Love Experiment because it seems everyone knows and loves Christina Lauren. I have enjoyed several of their books, especially In a Holidaze and The Soulmate Equation. I had no clue this was a follow up to the latter, focusing on beloved Fizzy. I was surprised and pleasantly so. She's so engaging and hilarious and you just want to root for her.

Fizzy is in a rut work wise. She's a romance author who hasn't felt anything romantic for anyone in a year. In fact, she's contemplating that she might be broken. Until she meets Connor that is and suddenly those romantic feelings are ignited. Connor, a divorced dad, produces ocean documentaries for North Star, located in San Diego. He moved from the movie capital of LA to San Diego to be closer to his preteen daughter Stevie. Career wise it wasn't the best call, but family matters to him. Now he's been tasked with producing a reality dating show, clearly not his cup of tea, until he meets Fizzy and gets a feel for her gregarious personality. She's perfect to lead a show and together they come up with a perfect idea for the show. Working closely together has them growing closer and closer until Fizzy finally stops typecasting Connor as romance male leads, i.e. the cinnamon roll, nerdy hunk, etc. Connor too feels the connection and has to watch this woman he loves date 8 men. Is there any way these two can be together when the world is voting on who Fizzy should be with?!

I loved the stereotype of romance novels being beat down in this and Connor especially changing his views. It was very satisfying. Connor was swoony and perfect and as much as I knew where this was going, I was still so happy to be along for the ride. Rom com gold.

Going to be honest this wasn’t even on my list of anticipated releases for this year 🫣 I was not a huge fan of Something Wilder and didn’t know if I was a fan of the direction this duo was going in.

GUYS I WAS WRONG. This book was absolute perfection. Like Unhoneymooners but better type perfection. The chemistry is off the charts and the entire premise is incredible. The book is a love note to the romance genre and it will tug on your heart strings, give you all the feels, and I was definitely shedding happy tears by the end.

I absolutely loved the journeys that both Fizzy & Connor went on separately in this book. The tension all had real purpose behind it and I was rooting for them both individually and as a couple every damn page. These characters were so perfectly crafted and their struggles were relatable.

I had no idea True Love Experiment would take place in the same universe as Soulmate Equation so prep your heart for some Jess & River cameos too 😍

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Get your preorders in now because you’re not going to want to miss this one!! Releases on 5/16! Thank you so much to @netgalley for the advanced reader copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review!

I pledge allegiance, to the team, that is Christina and Lauren.

These women know how to tell a story.

Fizzy was a side character (in The Soulmate Equation) with main character energy, and now we get to live out that heroine role with her. She’s become disillusioned with the idea of love, and so is facing a serious case of romance writer’s block. Her prince arrives up as Connor Prince III, sometime marine mammal documentarian and current land mammal reality show producer. Oh, and hot DILF.

Can I say, let’s make this reality show an actual reality?

Loved the casting of tropes (LOLd for real at the vampire phlebotomist), loved the self-referential campaign for romance genre acceptance, and the spice??? Two words. Hotel scene.

I love books about books so a romance book about romance books is my ultimate. Can’t wait to share this one.

Well, Christina Lauren did it again, they consistently give me all the feels! I have loved their quirky cast of characters and this one was so fun as we got to watch the best friend of a previous heroine get her own HEA. Fizzy was part of a great, dynamic cast of characters in The Soulmate Equation and I was so excited to read her story because she is just loads of fun and sass and snark!

This was a romance fangirl's dream book. I loved reading about the community I love so much by 2 authors that are such a wonderful part of that community. They are a joy to be around, they love the fans and have given us a great love letter to the romance community in this book. Watching Fizzy, a romance writer in a slump, getting to live out so many of the best tropes in her own love story/dating show experience was just so fun. And, man, I really wanna watch that dating show! Every romance reader's dream show!!

But really Fizzy and Conner are just great and real and fun and wonderful They are not perfect but they are perfect for each other, as all the best heroes and heroines are. They love so fully; they love each other and the people in their lives so well. I just loved watching their joy and spark and well, as the cover shows, their fireworks!

I love when each MC has a great support system and we watch as their spheres intersect and expand. Christina Lauren is great at increasing the community and support system each of the main characters as they grow more involved in each other's lives, rather than sink completely into each other to the exclusion of every other good thing in their lives.

I have yet to read a Christina Lauren book that I don't like, and this one shot right to the top of my faves list! It was cute, sweet, sexy, and fun. Even though I figured out the twist from the very start, it was still enjoyable watching it all build up as the story progressed. Super cute and a very enjoyable read! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Loved this book. 100%, from the first page to the last, just a very enjoyable read. I might say it's their very best book yet.

This tells the story of Fizzy, who you may know from The Soulmate Equation. She's a romance novelist, pure joy, no excuses, and will make sure you have a good time doing whatever it is that needs doing. Fizzy meets Collin, he's an executive producer for television and wants her to star in a new reality show he's casting.

The energy between these two is just off the charts in the very best of ways and I had just an enjoyable escape while reading this book. I really can't recommend this book enough. If you've liked Christina Lauren in the past, you will definitely like this one. If you've never read this author, this is a great place to start.

Wow! I loved this book. LOVED it. Fizzy Chen please be my bestie. I highlighted so many passages, laughed out loud and didn’t want this book to end. There was depth and feeling along with the witty Fizzy banter. I felt like this book healed me in ways I wasn’t expecting. Fizzy and Connor’s chemistry was palpable. “One the world sees you, Fizzy, They’re going to fall in love.” Yes. Once the world sees this book, they will fall in love.

Christina and Lauren - thank you for bringing this book to life.

Felicity Chen is a romance author with a huge following. She is funny, caring and outgoing. She starts the story with a speech to a graduating class about going out and making your own love story happen. Be your own main character.

Fizzy hasn’t found her own love story. There isn’t an attraction to anyone these days and that lack of spark makes her writing non existent. She has been having fun with her niece and best friends but something is clearly lacking.

Enter Connor. Connor’s job just got a whole lot more stressful. He’s been told that he has to create a dating reality tv show and only if it’s successful will he get a chance to go back to environmental documentaries. While at his ex-wives’ home he sees bookshelves filled with Felicity Chen’s books. This is how he gets the idea for a romance author to be the love interest in his show. It's a unique twist on reality dating, perhaps it can work. Now he just needs her to agree to it. Felicity isn’t very happy at the idea of the show so she makes a list of types of book heroes that the contestants have to be. Like hot nerd, cinnamon roll, second chance love. Fizzy thinks if she’s going to do this then let’s make Connor sweat a bit.

Read this book if you like
- Hilarious banter
- Meet cutes
- Single Dads
- Romance author insight
- Lines that resonate
- Laugh out loud moments
- Romantic Comedy with heart

I loved this book. Loved it.
I am stingy with my stars, and this one got a full 5 stars from me.
Fizzy was a breath of fresh air, but honestly, what really shone for me was Connor. Specifically, his relationship with his ex-wife and daughter.
I will be recommending this book to anyone who enjoys a good romance book.

I loved this book because it was wonderful for a secondary character to become a main character. Fizzy is definitely someone you want to get to know and have in your corner. I loved her personal growth, how she opened herself to love, and still kept true to herself. Her main character energy is contagious and I loved how you learned more about her, while still being able to revisit past favorite characters. I highly recommend this book and will definitely be reading it again and adding to my bookshelf.
