I really enjoyed The True Love Experiment because it was so fun! Fizzy is hysterical! It definitely had romance, but it was overshadowed by Fizzy’s sparkly personality. I’m not a fan of The Bachelor/Bachelorette, so the premise of the experiment was not my favorite. The tv show parts were actually annoying and stressed me out at times. It was obvious Connor and Fizzy were going to be together so I sped read through the tv show production, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that loves a RomCom!

Not my favorite Christina Lauren romance novel but a fun sequel to The Soulmate Equation. The MCs had nice light banter but I'm not sure this one will stay with me for a long time.

Just when I think I have chosen which Christina Lauren book is my favorite, she tops it again. This book was fun to read! I was I terrified with the idea of using a romance writer to star in a dating reality show. Since I love reality shows, and realize that most of them are scripted, I was intrigued that this one was not going to be that way. My favorite part was that Josh had to cast characters based on her unique descriptions. But I was rooting for the two of them all throughout, even when it seems hopeless. I also loved the connections to The Soulmate Equation. Highly recommend and encourage others to read this book!!

I love Christian Lauren books, and this one was no disappointment. I really enjoyed Fizzy's character, and the premise itself was engaging and creative. I liked the reality-show premise. This was one of the more steamy Lauren novels, but it held my attention the entire time! 4.5 Stars!

CL strikes again with a boring and uninventive plot. I made it 50% and think I deserve a star for lasting that long. I think this was just a good reminder that CL are not for me. Their books have felt SOOO basic ever since The Unhoneymooners and it's sad that they haven't come out with anything quality since.

9/10

I’ve never read a Christina Lauren book before but apparently they (it’s two authors, Christina and Lauren) have a whole crapload of best sellers. Consider me ignorant.

If their other books are anything like this one, count me in for more.

The True Love Experiment is about romance writer Fizzy Chen who finds herself the star of a reality show where she is being set up to find true love. As it turns out, she’s more attracted to the shows producer than the other contestants vying for her attention.

I know, it doesn’t sound interesting when I describe it. But there are things you need to know.

Christina and Lauren are wonderful writers - their way with words feels like it velcros you to the novel. Their writing is filled with so much joy. It made me happy reading the book.

Also, their main character, Fizzy, is an incredibly compelling character. Smart, sexy, self aware, independent, strong… her charisma oozes off the pages.

The bond between Fizzy and Conner is palpable. Throughout the book you’re so tied in to the journey of their relationship, it’s like you’re actually there.

Anybody who remotely likes rom coms definitely needs to read this one. Loved it.

Time to read the prequel to this book.

DEVOURED this hilarious, lovable, and fun romance in a day! Fizzy is the girl that everyone is rooting for. She is wildly successful, witty, and described as “hot as F!@&”… Connor is a sexy DILF, respectable, and the perfect guy for our gal Fizzy. This friends-to-lovers romance gives everything and more.

I thought this was a good read. It was slow to start but an overall good story. I wish I would have known that it was connected to a previous book by Christina Lauren so I could have read it first.

Thank you, NetGalley, for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

Christina Lauren just get the assignment. This book was such a joy. Not only was it funny but it reads like a love letter to romance readers. The way the dating show is centered around common romance tropes is brilliant and the tie-in to the Soulmate Equation is excellent. Connor and Fizzy were easy to root for and relatable and their coping mechanisms both felt grounded and realistic. This is easily my new favorite Christina Lauren book.

Fans of Christina Lauren have been dying for this, Felicity "Fizzy" Chen's story, since she was introduced in The Soulmate Equation as main character Jess' quirky and lovable bestie. Now, all eyes are (still) on Fizzy, quite literally, as she's cast as the heroine in a reality dating show. Why, you ask? Because she's a wildly beloved romance author that Connor Prince III, producer of said reality show, hears about by chance from his ex-wife turned best friend Nat. Connor is being all but forced to do this show, when his heart lies in nature documentaries, but his production company's pockets, unfortunately, do not share his passion. They're adamant that they enter the reality entertainment world, and promise that if Connor can pull off a reality show, they'll revisit the documentaries conversation later.

When Connor and Fizzy meet, the banter flies, and the idea for a "Bookish Heroine dates a slew of Bookish Tropes to find her Soulmate" is born. Connor painstakingly filters through an endless array of men to cast the perfect lineup: the Himbo, the Vampire, the Cinnamon Roll--seriously, this story was fangirl gold. And speaking of fangirls, one of my favorite highlights from the book was a scene so perfect I nearly died. Fizzy is talking to Connor about a fan that comes to every event with two copies of each of her books, and has them signed. Connor is surprised by this fact, and Fizzy's reaction describes all of us: "Fangirls show up, Connor. Those are my people." I literally hugged my Kindle after reading those words, because it's so true. Fangirls will flock to author events/conventions/screenings. We buy the merch, we wait in the lines, we tell you we love you. We show up, because we want to support our favorite author/actor/creator. To know that our favorites see and feel that love means so much, and to see it on the page was lovely, an acknowledgment that we're all in this together, that these books keep coming because we keep reading them and keep waiting at the edges of our seats for more.

Another aspect of this story that was special to me was Fizzy's auntie status. I'm not a mother myself, but I'm an aunt more than a dozen times over, and seeing her relationship with the children around her spoke to my soul in a profound way, especially when Fizzy discusses her (and my own, to the T) role of "being the auntie everyone comes to when they need to learn how to do the perfect winged eyeliner, hide a hangover from a parent, or cry about their first broken heart. I think every child needs someone who adores them unconditionally but is not biologically obligated to." Straight in the feels, Christina Lauren! Right to the guts of me! Then, when she meets her first biological niece, she whispers that she "will never let you suffer an ill-fitting bra. I'll tell you when you have food in your teeth. I'm the one you come to when you need clothing advice or spending money. I only ask that you let me vet every person you want to date," and how the second she saw the baby she knew she had "no choice but to lay down my life for her" and muses about how most newborns look like grumpy old men but this one "is already, hands down, the most beautiful and entertaining human ever to grace this planet," and how Fizzy's own heart "is too small for these feelings; the sense of choking on happiness, of drowning in it," it all careened me back to just over four years ago when my world was irrevocably changed by my first biological niece being born. I love all of my nieces and nephews to the end of every galaxy in every universe in every multiverse out there, but the first one that comes out and may have the same dimple as you, or eyes that match your own, or may have a very similar smile to yours? It's cathartic to hold that little human for the first time, and Christina Lauren perfectly describe the feelings of a childless auntie. I'm getting weepy typing these words and reliving the way this book made me feel.

I've droned on and on about fangirls and aunties, I know, so now to the more universal stuff: this book was steamy without being too much. It makes you wait, but gives you what you want without it being something you're going to hate them for. The perfect balance of love and spice, of anticipation and fulfillment, of frustration ("just kiss already!!" and "my GOD get your heads out of your own asses and OPEN YOUR EYES) and "squee!" Connor Prince is a very worthy book boyfriend, especially when you learn about his past and how he works hard, every day, to not be the person he was in his early life. So often, the book boyfriends we fall for are perfect; they come with a clean past, no mistakes, making them perfect on paper, but that's not real. Real life is messy, and people aren't ever perfect. So, having this imperfect, perfect man, was a welcome change. Oh, and he's 6'5. And British. Swoon.

The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren was so much more than I thought it was going to be, and I'm so thankful to have read it.

A companion to the Christina Lauren duo's The Soulmate Equation, The True Love Experiment is Felicity "Fizzy" Chen's turn to shine. I loved the callbacks to characters and situations of TSE, while still allowing the focus to remain on Fizzy and her love story. I thoroughly enjoyed the premise of the story, the characters, and the "Wait, but I want everyone to be happy--how do we manage that?" feeling as I got closer to finishing the book. Funny, sweet, irreverent, and light, this book checks off all the boxes for an enjoyable read (though the story does get a smidge repetitive as it stretches for the finale).

So excited to have received this arc from netgalley! I loved the soulmate equation.

First thoughts: Fizzy is a delight.
Quickly turned into I can't stop reading this and I love Connor. I wish I could do a British accent in my head

Very fun read, and great for fans of Christina Lauren's. I have had fun reading their books, this isn't my favorite of their's, but up there.

If you loved Soulmate Equation this is a great follow up of the characters. What previously appeared to be supporting characters take on a full life of their own. Funny, charismatic, take on a social experiment of reality tv that defies the heart. Finding "the one" can be a difficult journey so don't forget to hold onto your heart for the ride of your life.

Christina Lauren does it again! I was so excited to receive this ARC as I LOVED the Soulmate Experiment. This book is happy and fun and will make you smile from start to finish. The main character, Fizzy, is vibrant and relatable as she agrees to join a reality TV dating show. The connection between Fizzy and Connor will have you rooting for them from beginning to end! The book makes you feel warm and fuzzy as you navigate Fizzy’s various extremely positive relationships with friends, family, kids, etc.

Read this book ASAP and you will not be disappointed! Christina Lauren does it again!

Tha k you NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest review. This is definitely my favorite book by this duo to date! I love how it tied into The Soulmate Equation but could stand on its own no problem. I have a girl crush on Fizzy— what a great character, so much fun getting to know her. This book really works and I highly recommend.

The True Love Experiment focused on Fizzy, Jess' best friend from The Soulmate Equation. Fizzy was not one of my favorite characters, but it only took a few chapters to completely fall in love with our heroine. We get to see an Asian American leading lady steal the show with the dreamy Connor. Fizzy is a romance writer that compares her robust love life to those of her characters, until she loses her spark. It turns out that what Fizzy needs is a new outlook on men in a fun reality tv series where she gets to date men that fit her favorite romance troupes. Reading how Fizzy will juggle the demands of the network while finding her true love will be fun read for any lover of the Rom Com or Romance genre.

I have read many of Christina Lauren’s books and was very excited to read The True Love Experiment. This was such a fun read!
After reading The Soulmate Equation, I was happy to see that Fizzy was getting her own story. She is a sassy romance writer who agrees to be the heroine on a new dating show being produced by a handsome Brit named Connor. Their connection and banter are great….so much so that Fizzy begins to wonder if she’s found her soulmate before the show even begins. This book is a love letter to all romance readers, giving us all the feels on the way to our happily ever after.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Every Christina Lauren story is a treat, but this one was extra special. Fizzy was a blast in The Soulmate Equation, but what happens when your fun friend loses their spark? While she goes on a journey of rediscovery, CL examines the comfort that can come from reading (and watching) joy when you're struggling to find it yourself. I really appreciated that Fizzy, though frustrated, was also gentle with herself and taking her time to heal. Connor may be my favorite CL hero yet...it's too soon to say, too fresh. I will say that he is on the same tier as Josh. A sickly sweet friends-to-lovers where you lowkey want to shake the protagonists and yell "you are kidding yourselves," I highly recommend adding this to your shelves.
