I appreciate NetGalley allowing me to reset this book! It was a definite slow burn. It did not grab me at the beginning like I like books too. I was invested enough to want to know the ending but the twist just wasn’t there in my opinion. I appreciate Lucy’s drive to want to right the wrongs of the justice system. I liked her as a character. Thanks again for the lend!
Wow ! An intense and addictive thriller that took my breath away ! I highly recommend this book ! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this book ! Opinions are solely my own !

Well-written mystery that keeps you guessing about who's guilty. The story centers on a child abduction but each twist or lead gives us more. While working to find a missing 8 year old, Private Investigator Lucy Kendall isn't afraid to skirt the line or cross it to bring Kayleigh home safely.
Lucy was a former CPS social worker and has no second thoughts about taking the law into her own hands to save innocent children.
Pros: the pacing moved quickly. A cast of characters led to increased suspense each time a lead didn't bring them to Kayleigh. This is book one on a series so side characters were introduced that I hope are in future books.
Some of the big tips/breaks in the story felt like coincidence. They felt too good to be true.
Wow, wow, wow. Lucy Kendall might be one of my favorite vigilantes and I am LOVING it!!! When I initially requested book 1 of this series I was slightly overwhelmed with how graphic and real the storyline felt. A young girl is kidnapped, and Lucy Kendall promises the mother she will find her daughter, there were a number of twists and turns that absolutely kept my interest without feeling lost. I was VERY happy with the ending of this book and feel like the author did an incredible job with setting up this series.
This is book 1 in the Lucy Kendall series. Lucy worked in Child Protective Services but is now a Private Investigator. Her 13 year old sister went missing and killed herself in the aftermath. It is a psychological thriller and a real page-turner. An 8 year old is now missing and Lucy needs to find her. The characters are hard to trust and the twists and turns makes things a bit suspenseful. The ending was satisfying and kept the pages turning. I am looking forward to the next book in the series in order to get to know Lucy better. If you love psychological thrillers then you will love this book. I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for a copy for an honest review.
What a greatread love Lucy the main she a bit different you like her character a lookyou be with her in this plot easy to read a good strong plot lots of twist and turns a great start to the books you will enjoy it
Very UNIQUE story line depicting the main character as a vigilante against child molesters. Well written, intense & totally enjoyable & different. RECOMMEND fully & looking forward to the next in the series. Thanks to# NetGalley & #Bookouture for this arc in return for my honest review.
Well, this was a surprise.
Somehow found myself rooting for a serial killer (No spoilers there as it's on the first page) which must be a first for me.
Started excellently. Really gripping and fast paced. A little drawn in the middle but a great ending and one that has left me already looking for the next in the series.
My first by this author and I thank Net Galley for the copy. Actually the whole series. The description of the book had me interested. Then I read it. Lucy is different from any PI book I had read before. I enjoy crime thrillers, but I am not real sure how I feel about her side job. I will say this book had a lot of twists and turns. I will be reading book 2 to see how the story continues.
A great read. Unusual crime read which features a girl taking her own justice out on unsavoury characters. I am looking forward to reading the next books in this series.
Overall the book was great. Well written and kept me captivated throughout. The material did get a little more graphic than I usually enjoy - so be warned. May be a trigger topic for some.
Lucy, the main character, is a little different than the typical private eye. She has a very interesting side "business" that actually becomes a sub story in the plot. Interesting read, will read the second book for sure!
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
The cover and the synopsis of this book, made me request it from #netgalley. I saw that #netgalley also had the WHOLE series so I requested them all because I love crime thrillers and I did receive all 4 books to read which made me excited that I would be able to read the whole series.
The Girl with the Pink Shoes was really good. Lucy worked in Child Protective Services and is now a Private Investigator with a side of Dexter. This book should definitely come with trigger/content warnings due to the content and graphic descriptions. I'm not one that looks for trigger/content warning because other than graphic dog death scenes, things don't bother me; it's just a part of the story. Being a True Crime buff, someone that wanted to become a Forensic Pathologist but who has also suffered a lot of childhood trauma and abuse, I'm not really bothered by a lot of things written or the theme of some books and I have read some doozies but I found myself doing the Chrissy Teigen eek face a lot during some descriptions.
The beginning of the book was a little slow paced but then it picked up and I read the last half in a few hours. I really couldn't put it down. The series seems to be a re-release as this series was originally published in 2014. I wonder if the content in the earlier books is better or worse?
I am struggling between a 3 & 4 star review on this. I'll go middle of the road and say 3.5. If you are a reader that needs a trigger/content warning before reading a book, I'll say stay away from this one.
Thank you @netgalley, @bookouture and Stacy Green for the DRC
I enjoyed this book but some of the content was more graphic than I felt it needed to be. The subject matter could easily be triggering for some. The characters were interesting and I'm curious as to what the other books will be like.
Synopsis 🌿
Eight-year-old Kailey Richardson went to school in her new pink shoes and never made it home. Private Investigator Lucy Kendal sees the fliers of Kailey and offers her services to Jenna, Kailey’s terrified mother, swearing to find Kailey before it’s too late.
Lucy herself is troubled by her past, having lost her sister to a similar evil, she is determined to find Kailey. The only question is: will she be able to find Kailey before her demons catch up?
Thoughts🌿
This was a fast paced story that kept me wondering what would happen next - I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Lucy Kendal, the protagonist, is a flawed character but she’s fleshed out very well. She operates in various shades of grey and watching her wrestle with the notion of morality was intriguing. She also facilitated conversations regarding nature vs. nurture with various other characters because this was one of the main themes of the book. The conversations reminded me a little of Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka — I reckon definitely give The Girl in the Pink Shoes a shot if you liked that book. Of course the genres are different and the focus of both books are different but the themes are quite similar.
While this was a gripping thriller some of the atrocities were hard to read because they were inflicted upon children. The descriptions are not very graphic but nothing is alluded to in the book. It’s all definitely spelled out for you. So please check trigger warnings before you start reading this book.
Overall, the plot was very good, the twists and turns kept me hooked! Perfect for readers that love mysteries and thrillers, especially with morally grey characters. I’m interested to see where this series will head and will definitely read the next book.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
4.25/5⭐️
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this before it’s release and HOLY SMOKES! What a book. From the beginning it was a GREAT. The book will leave your heart racing.
Lucy is a ex social worker turned PI/ vigilante who is taking care of the “scum” of the earth one pedophile at a time. Lucy lost her sister to suicide after being abused by her mother’s boyfriend and has made it her mission to protect children from predators.
Little Kailey is walking home from school when she’s snatched and disappeared without any leads.
The story takes you on a ride of Lucy leaving no stone or human unturned to get to the truth of what happened to Kailey.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My type of book and I never write this but I didn’t really connect to the book itself but I will read the second book and see if I enjoy it
Lucy Kendall is one bad-assed private investigator. Due to things that happened in her past, she has become somewhat of a vigilante. Though she is tormented by what she does, she can’t stop. While what she does seems extreme, you can’t but wonder if what she does is really not that bad. I don’t like sharing too much in my reviews with spoilers so I’ll leave it up to you to decide how you feel about her form of vigilantism.
Just know with going into reading The Girl in the PInk Shoes, you will experience all emotions. I went from upset to sad to horrified to disbelief…..and thats not saying everything I felt. It is a dark, psychological suspense thriller with very brutal elements throughout the story.
Is this an easy read? Definitely not but it is gripping and really makes you think/wonder about her form of justice.
Stacy Green always delivers a solid plot and this one did not disappoint. I hope to read the next books in the series.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and author, Stacy Green, for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Holy Moly I had no idea who the baddie was or how many players were in this story.
On a hot 38c/100f Aussie Summer day I just settled on the couch and read this story straight through.
I must say I'm already looking forward to reading much more of this series. PI Lucy is one kicka#e heroine, though perhaps bad for good reasons too. Question is do I love her or hate her, time will tell.
The characters had so many connections as the author brilliantly wove this tale, I was thinking omg, it's him...no it's him...oh it's her...nope it's someone else and my head was spinning.
Fantastic story, great characters and a well written plot. Bring on book 2....oh wait it's on my kindle :)
This is my first book my Leanne Kale Sparks and will not be my last! The main character Lucy is interesting she has many sides to her I really liked her! She’s a character that stays with you and you want to know more about her and what she’s doing. I’ve never read a book like this one before so it was something new and different I know what she does is wrong but I can’t help but be ok with it and hope she’s ok and doesn’t get caught. I like the side characters too they were all well written and felt like main characters which I like i now want to know more about them. The plot was interesting with lots of twists I didn’t see coming a young girl was kidnapped and I couldn’t guess by who so that was a surprise. I didn’t see a lot of the story coming it was one shock after another which meant I couldn’t put the book down and read it all night. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to anyone who’s after a crazy different mind blowing book with a great plot and brilliant characters which leave you wanting more!
I am still trying to process what I just read.
I feel there should be a trigger warning for anyone who might read this who has been a child sexual assault victim (like myself), and definitely a warning for descriptions of suicide and death.
Lucy Kendall. What do I say? Her determination is admirable. Her reasoning is understandable. But Is she becoming heartless?
I was so glad she came to her senses about Justin's offer. I'd kind of like to see Lucy and Todd hook up. Definitely not with Chris. He's almost as damaged as Justin.
It's so weird because I was dreaming about a vigilante serial killer a few days ago and then I started reading this and had a moment where I wondered if I was psychic.
It took me a minute, but I guessed the kidnapper before the end of the book.
I do hope Mother Mary remains a target for Todd and Lucy, but that she gets her just desserts sooner rather than later.
I can't wait to read the next one.
