Her Final Breath by Carolyn Arnold is book 7 in the Detective Amanda Steele series.

Carolyn Arnold has written another twisty, suspense filled story.

Book 1-7 have had me hooked from the very first few pages until the end.
The amazing twists and turns throughout the story will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Every single character here I've truly enjoyed.
Detective Amanda Steele being my favorite female lead. She is has amazing determination and is a great character.
Another taut, gripping police procedural that's very entertaining and suspenseful.

Another book in the series featuring Detective Amanda Steele. A tricky case with many facets troubles Amanda and her partner. A good read.

The bodies of a young woman and child are found in a shallow grave at a park. They are identified as mother and daughter. The husband's a police officer reported them missing. There is something suspicious about the husband. Trent and Amanda need to be careful with this case. Just as they think they have everything they wrapped up---another grave is found with a mother and daughter in it. This case is getting to everyone from Graves on down. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I’ve been hooked on this series since the very beginning and the author writes such a good character in Amanda, it’s been great to see her growth from grieving widow to happy mom with Zoe. I love the way Carolyn Arnold blends Amanda’s own story and development with a great crime mystery. I’ve also liked the evolution in this book with Amanda’s new boss, I think she has been a good addition to the series and definitely creates some tension for Amanda that I think has been needed to keep things fresh and interesting. I’m still hoping to see more of her and Trent but my hope is that this series will be going for a long time and that this will be explored more in books to come. All in all I cannot praise these books enough, every one so far has lived up to my expectation and I can honestly say that I count this series as one of my favourites of all time. Keep them coming please!

Amanda is called to the scene of another murder, tragically it is discovered that the woman had been buried with her young daughter. Not long after another mother and daughter are found dead near by. The common theme among the women is they come from abusive homes. Who is killing these women and their daughters, once again Amanda and Trent won’t give up, especially when it seems another mom and child have gone missing . This is another fast paced adventure and great addition to this series .

As always, Carolyn Arnold pushes her heroine, Detective Amanda Steele, to the limits - and boy, does she deliver in Her Final Breath. Amanda and her partner, Trent, are called to investigate the murder of an abused mother and daughter found buried in a local park... all evidence points to the husband - and he's a member of law enforcement. This brings out many emotions for Trent as his aunt is in an abusive situation (loved how Ms. Arnold wove this into the story). When another woman and child are found in the park, buried in the same manner, the detectives know they've got a bigger investigation on their hands. This well-woven story is absolutely fantastic - I absolutely LOVED the book and cannot wait to see where the author takes Amanda next! Thank you very much to Bookouture for an advanced reader copy of this book - the opinions expressed are my own.

Another great read in the series! This one is a bit dark and it's full of suspense. I could feel my heart pounding a few times. I love the dynamic between Amanda and Trent. I had high hopes after the last book so there were a couple aspects to this one that were frustrating. I also really felt like Trents demeanor in regards to this case was realistic and added more depth to his character. I'm anxious to see where the next book takes us.

I always enjoy this authors books just love the way she writes. This book is worth the cerebral investment and your brain will relish the time taken to pick apart the details. Read it in a day with barely any breaks, but the breaks that I took just meant that I was thinking about it and wanted to get back to it!

I was not familiar with Carolyn Arnold books but this one got me hooked and I had to find the rest of the books in this series. Love the characters of Amanda and Trent. A serial killer to find and a bit of romance. I’ll definitely be looking forward to more books by this author.

Her Final Breath by Carolyn Arnold is a 5-star read! I definitely tore through this book. I was anxious to find out how Amanda and Trent would figure out the case and if Leanne and Gracie would be found in time. I was hooked from page 1 until the end. I cannot wait for more books in this series. I was sad to come to the end of the book.

The story has a good plot, and the story is pretty face-paced and page-turning. I wish Amanda could spend more time with Zoe, and that relationship could be explored more in future books. I feel Zoe is sometimes neglected, with Amanda working so many intense cases.

The book shows how mental health and illness go undiagnosed, are hard to treat sometimes, and are not recognized when we send our men and women to battle, and they witness things that severely affect them.

I really like this author's writing style, the way the story unfolds, and the relationships she builds with her characters. I cannot wait for more of this series.

I would recommend this book, this series, and this author.

A 5 out of 5 stars.

Her Final Breath (Detective Amanda Steele Book 7) by Carolyn Arnold. Exciting plot and relatiable characters. Puzzled as to how I have missed Detective Amanda Steele series until now. Will be looking for the previous books in the series.

Thanks to Carolyn and NetGalley for allowing me to read Her Final Breath before the publication date.
This is the 7th in the Detective Amanda Steele series and there is a distinct but subtle change in the atmosphere.

At the best of times, crimes involving children are harrowing for the detectives.
Then the pathologist reports that the woman has injuries which predate her going missing, making the husband a person of interest.

When they realise that this is the wife and daughter of a serving officer, the detectives have to tread carefully.
Trent’s personal experience of domestic abuse leaves him barely able to contain his temper.

As the body count rises, Amanda and Trent have to find what links the victims before the killer can strike again.

In this book, Amanda’s character has softened. She is in a relationship with Logan Hunter but a previous, albeit fleeting , intimate moment with Trent intrudes in Amanda’s thoughts.

The subject of the book is distinctly dark and concerning but was momentarily lightened by Carolyn’s description of the “panting black Labrador pup who was still growing into her paws”.

A grave is found in a park, containing two bodies, a woman cradling her daughter, and a plush toy next to them.

Detective Amanda Steele is on the hunt for the killer.

Close by, there is another grave found with two bodies, and a toy, and the race is on to find the killer before he can kill again.

Amanda, and her partner, Trent find out that the two women were abused by their husbands. Why are abused women being targetted?

This was quite an amazing book. One of my favourite genres, a police procedural with a strong, smart, compassionate female lead.
I raced through the book with a racing heart to find out who the killer was, and why he killed women and their daughters.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves the genre as much as I do.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I do love this series and really getting into the back story (although as a mother I would like Amanda to spend more time with Zoe, my only downside but I get it otherwise it wouldnt be such a good story).

This story is such an interesting plot and I want to say more about why as it turns out at the end but I dont want to spoil it.

The investigation works well as how they unravel the clues and find the results. But, and I feel this was the author's objective, feel upset how people can slip through the system. It really made me think - which is a sign of a good book.

I was given an advance copy by the publishers and netgalley but the review is entirely my own.

Detective Amanda Steele keeps the story going...a love interest...murders to solve...working with those she likes and admires...a new daughter...family and friends...love and romance...and the serial killer she is searching for...someone killing mothers and their daughters...too close to home...this talented author has written another novel that is a cannot put down...a page turner...characters come alive on the pages of this book. I did not guess the ending...thought it was one of the husbands...this book comes to a satisfying, but sad, ending...as always, this author does not disappoint. I look forward to reading Amanda Steele's next story. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and this author.
