5 stars hands down
From pg 1 to the last page I was intrigued
Abigail and Pete are getting married. But the parents haven't really met or had time to get to know one another. Pete and Abigail decide to take both sets of parents on a 3 day camping trip
Now that might sound like a good idea, except everyone has a secret l. Will the truth come out? Will they all survive this camping trip. So many twist and turns you won't know who to believe or who to trust

If I didn’t have a newborn baby at home, I would have read this in 1 day (I finished it in 2 days). There were several twists that I did not see coming. All the characters seemed a little sketchy and I just HAD to know what was coming next. I’ve already recommended this book to others.

This jaw-dropping thriller by Laura Wolfe literally got me glued to my kindle because I was too curious to stop reading.

I love the setting the author opted for, it adds a nail-biting atmosphere to the whole story. She definitely has a way with words and I was impressed by the adjectives, the verbs she chose to portray vivid images throughout the narration.

The plot and the characters are masterfully built to throw you off the scent and make you wonder for the whole time who's lying and who really bears pure evil inside them. There are breadcrumbs strewn here and there that will help you see the major twists coming if you're a really good observer, I figured out some of them but definitely didn't see the last one coming and, believe me, it will strike you like a stone falling on your head...

This was a fun and twisty domestic thriller to start the year off with. Abigail and Pete are engaged and Abigail has planned an outdoor hiking adventure for their parents to get to know one another before the wedding.

During the course of their outdoor adventure several items go mysteriously missing, a strange man keeps showing up, threatening messages are found, several people are hiding something and someone winds up dead.

Some of these twists caught me by surprise and others I predicted while reading. There were some things mentioned in the narrative that never came up again that was also a bit confusing.

The ending was quite satisfying.

Overall, I enjoyed this book!

Abigail plans a 3 day camping excursion with herself, her fiance and their parents, hoping for a family bonding weekend before their wedding. Abigail comes from an astute family while Pete, her fiance, comes from a more eccentric family.

When personalities clash and someone winds up dead, suspicions arise between everyone.

"Maybe the worst parts of ourselves were more comfortable hiding in the shadows."

With alternating chapters from different characters points of view, it's hard to know who's telling the truth and who's hiding secrets.

This was a quick read, keeping me on my toes, wondering what was going to happen next. It also makes me never want to go camping again.

Thanks to NetGalley, Laura Wolfe and her publishers for allowing me to read this book early.

Abigail and Pete are getting married! In an effort to bring their parents together, Abigail plans a special camping trip to focus on team building activities and connection. The camping trip unfolds and things go from bad to worse. First, Pete’s parents seem a bit standoffish; then, their guide Liam discovers his bear spray has gone missing and half of their food has been spoiled. As tensions run high, secrets becomes exposed and it becomes apparent that someone may not make it out of the woods.

This book grabbed my attention from the very first pages and didn’t let go til the very last. I loved the remote setting, untrustworthy characters, and secrets slowly coming to light. I swear my jaw dropped at the ending, even though at that point I was sure I had seen it all. This was exactly the kind of twisting thriller that I LOVE and I am so glad it was my first 5-star read of 2023! Don’t miss this one.

Thank you to Netgalley, Laura Wolf and Bookouture for the ARC! This book is out will be released January 26th.

WOW! What a twisty ride of a thriller. This pacey read has superb character development meaning you just can't trust anyone which will make you race through the book! The plot is developed really well with new revelations appearing each chapter - and the end?? I did NOT see that coming! Unpredictable and very engaging.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

I could not put this one down! Very fast paced with many plot twists that I did not see coming. When Abigail and Pete planned a guided camping trip for the families to get to know each other prior to the wedding, you would think this would unite them. Instead it tore the group apart and left one dead. We later come to realize that everything may not be as accidental or spontaneous as they may have predicted. Even after the trip concludes, more surprises arise. Who do you trust? So many layers of family drama!

The premise of this book hooked me right away...an engaged couple, Abigail and Pete, take their respective parents on a "survival" nature hike for three days to try the mend the wounds from their disastrous first meeting. The bride-to-be has meticulously planned everything and is praying the trip will be a success.

Almost immediately, things start to go wrong. Abigail's mother is a highly educated psychiatrist and clashes with Darla, Pete's mother, who reads palms and tarot cards. Abigail's easygoing dad is not clicking with Kenny, who is constantly spouting facts about the reality shows he watches. But things quickly turn more sinister as they encounter a frightful looking hiker, who appears emaciated and gaunt, and then the "warnings" appear...messages written in all caps that implore, "WATCH YOUR BACK" and "SOMEONE IS LYING". Someone isn't going to make it out of those woods alive, but why, and who is responsible?

I read a ton of thrillers, and I don't recall a book in recent memory that shocked me more than this one did. First, the writing was impeccable, and the story flowed without a hitch. I loved finding out little bits and pieces of each character either through the dialogue or the alternating points of view. Each thing you found out made each person more and more suspicious. When the first bombshell was dropped, I couldn't believe it! Oh, it was intense! But the author was far from finished. The twists were dizzying and so clever in how connected they all were. You don't have to wait long for this one as it releases January 26, 2023. I'll be buying a copy for my library, and I've already added all of the author's backlist that I haven't already read to my wishlist. Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this early copy.

I read The In-Laws over a couple of days. From the synopsis I knew I was in for a tense psychological thriller and it didn’t disappoint. The plot builds gradually as the three day trip to the woods for the families to get better acquainted begins. There’s plenty of secrets and lies that will entertain to the end. Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the chance to review.

My brain is still trying to settle after all the twists this one took. A mysterious message scratched in the mud states "Someone is Lying". Well, the truth is that a LOT of someones are lying!!! As a matter of fact, I don't think there is a single person in this group that's telling the truth. It was deliciously deceptive. Everyone here has an agenda. Everyone here is a suspect. Everyone here is guilty of something. Be sure to pick this one up if you enjoy watching a train wreck!!
