The Doctor’s Wife by Daniel Hurst was an exciting thriller from the first page. I enjoy books where the story is told from alternating points of view as it really assists with character development and getting familiar with the characters. Fern and her doctor husband, Drew have recently relocated from the city of Manchester to the quiet seaside town of Arberness. Drew insisted that a slower pace of lift as a doctor in a smaller village would be beneficial to their family life, and Fern acquiesced. Unbeknownst to Fern, Drew has been engaging in an extramarital affair and his mistress has also relocated to Arberness. There are many twists and turns that follow and you really get engaged with the characters and their thoughts and actions due to the changing points of view. I highly enjoyed this book and will read more by this author. If you enjoy a suspenseful read, this one is for you. Any book that starts with a dead body on a beach is my kind of read! The Doctor's Wife is a domestic thriller set in a small British village near Scotland. In alternating chapters we find out the story of Dr. Drew Devlin and his wife Fern. The couple recently moved to the rural community to get away from the fast paced life they had in Manchester. At least that is what Drew says; in reality he is chasing after a woman named Alice who he had an affair with in Manchester. Alice ended the affair and wants to make it work with her husband so she moved far away but Drew doesn't believe she would really leave him. He doesn't want to leave his wife, but he hopes to rekindle things with Alice. As for Fern, she loved city life and hated the rural move but wants to make her husband happy. She is also not as dumb as she seems.

The plot is fun and fast paced and there are a couple of unexpected twists. It is best not to know too much about the book going in but it was a fun ride. and a quick weekend read. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This compelling thriller had me entertained from the beginning to the end. The writing is straightforward so you have no time to feel bored. The narration shifts between two points of view, making the story even more interesting because we get to have fern's point of view as well as her husband's. I loved the twists and the surprises that keep coming as the story unfolds.

Fast paced thrillers is what you can expect from Daniel Hurst's books and this one is no exception. The prologue draws you in and before you know it the book is read.
Dr Drew Devlin persuades his wife Fern to move to the peaceful Scottish border for a quieter life, but he has an ulterior motive, but unknown to him so does his wife. Both keeping secrets from each other,this culminates in tragedy........but for who?
A great read

Thriller! Twist I did not see coming. I wanted to know what was going to happen. I like the different point of views.

Moving away will solve all your problems? Or make them worse? Daniel Hurst kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time with these characters. I truly feel this could be a sequel and the story is not over yet.

The characters fit well together and nothing is dragged out like some thrillers. Has a great twist that I was not expecting. Highly recommend!

I just finished reading The Doctor’s Wife, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! After reading Daniel Hurst’s The New Year’s Party (and wow, that was a great way to start the New Year), my first work from this author, I knew I had to find more of his books!

The Doctor’s Wife is a domestic thriller where deception, betrayal, and revenge are the driving forces behind a very twisted plot! Be forewarned, this book will grab you from the beginning and keep you up late into the night to see the story to its end!! And what an end!!

A really good read, I could get into his books as I really enjoyed this one, I look forward to reading more titles when they come out

Drew is a doctor. Fern is his wife. They have just moved from the city to the country. Drew wanted to move to be closer to his mistress who ended things a year ago and is also married. He's not ready for their affair to be over and hopes to start anew. Little does he know Fern is very aware of his little side hustle. But it remains to be seen what she will do about it . . .

Drew is an arrogant, self entitled prick. I could not stand him. He thinks he's better and smarter than everyone around him. Fern was more of a mystery. She wasn't really an individual. She had no identity outside of Drew. She's so head-over-heels for Drew and sees his role as a doctor more like that of a king which is absurd when finding out how rude he is with her. How little he cares for her. Why stay with a guy like that? Why fight for him against his mistress? Especially when she apparently has dirt on him that could ruin him.

Despite all that, I kept reading because I so wanted to know what was coming around the bend. Alice and Rory were a big part of the suspense. Alice clearly wants nothing to do with either of them which is interesting because they both want a piece of her and can't seem to leave her alone. Rory, on the other hand, is a mystery, one I was intrigued to uncover. So glad I kept reading this.

Taken through the perspective of both Fern and Drew, we discover how they are settling in to their new lives, or not.
An enjoyable book that gives many twists, even when you feel like there can't be any more to come. Recommended read

I enjoyed this book it took me a while to get into the plot I thought I could see where it was going but I was wrong great twist I did like the characters or did I I had a feeling about one of them was I right too you have to read to see the plot was easy to see you pulled into it

Fern is the wife of a successful doctor named Drew, who is having an affair with Alice. Alice moves up north with her husband Rory after ending the affair, but Drew isn't done just yet so he convinced Fern to also move to the small village so he can be closer to Alice. He thinks Fern is none the wiser about his affair, but little does he know, she does know and isn't happy about it.

The book alternates between Fern and Drew's points of view, and I really enjoyed seeing the stark contrast of their situation. This book was easy reading, with twists and turns I didn't expect. I'm wondering if there will be a sequel by the ending.

While I enjoyed this, the ended pretty much how I expected it to. There weren't any edge-of-the-seat moments. The story developed well over a period of time, and the book offered a few flash-back moments to fill in the blanks. The characters were fine--not exactly my favorites, but I didn't hate them either.

Overall, the book kept me engaged, and I feel it was worth 4 stars.

I started reading this book and finished it within 2 hours, even though I only intended on reading a chapter or two. This book immediately grips you and I really enjoyed how each chapter takes turn being in the perspective of each main character. There are a lot of twists and turns in the book which I thoroughly enjoyed, the only negative is that everything happens so quickly and is very fast paced which makes it a little bit unbelievable at times. Overall, a good read and I would definitely recommend!

Doctor Drew Devlin and his wife Fern appear to others to have the perfect life, but they both are keeping secrets not only from others but also each other. Drew tells Fern that he would like an easier work life and suggests to her that they move to a quiet seaside place but it’s the same village that Alice a former woman he had an affair with has moved to with her husband in order to make a fresh start.
Drew is not the caring family person who you would normally associate as a GP. His stalking, lies and outlandish behaviour I found irritating to say the least. The plot was fast paced and held my attention.
