After finishing a heavy tome, with lots of characters, I wanted to read something not too complicated. The Doctor's Wife was exactly what I needed. I like Daniel Hursts' books because they follow the same pattern. We are introduced to the main characters (in this case, Drew Devlin and his wife Fern) before we are introduced to some other characters (in this case, Drews ex-lover and her husband) and then things get rolling. Being told from different viewpoints, the story unfolds quite fast and before we know it, it’s clear that not all characters are very reliable. On the contrary.
It’s not a spoiler to say that I didn’t like either of the four main characters. Drew thinks he’s a great doctor but it soon becomes clear the only thing he likes about his work is the money. Fern is a typical spoiled and lazy woman who loves just spending Drew’s money and watch daytime tv – she has no ambition at all. The other two we do not get to know very well; she is ‘Drews lover’ and he is ‘her husband’ but I cannot picture them well.
Despite this, I finished the book in one sitting because it was exactly what I needed: not too complicated a story with – for me anyway – no big surprises or twists.

This was a quick read. I found it fairly predictable and did not feel particularly engaged with the characters. It had a couple of twists to keep interest. Sadly not for me.

Love a dual POV, and dual timeline. This was a definite page turning psychological thriller that kept getting better and better! Once I started reading it I COULD NOT put it down!

Quick page turner by Daniel Hurst, The Doctor's Wife was a compelling book. Though I did have the twist figured out, reading how it all unfolded made it a fun ride.

Dr Drew has it all: money, a great wife by his side and a successful career in a big city. Out of the blue, he decides city life isn't for him and he wants to move to a rural town so he has more free time with his wife. But he has way more ulterior motives for the trip. Told in 2 POVs, Dr Drew and his wife, Fern, you see all of his lies start to unfold and catch up to him.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

The Doctor's Wife was a page turner and a great thriller. I really enjoyed the 2 person POV throughout the story as well as the twists and turns. I had the story figured out before all the crazy started happening, but all in all a good read that kept my attention. I also enjoyed the epilogue that seems to be setting up for a continuation of the story.

I give this a 4 star rating. Thanks to Netgalley and the author for an advanced copy.

Dr.Drew seems like the perfect husband to the outside world. A handsome professional who has recently moved with his wife Fern to a sleepy village. However, Dr.Drew has his own reasons and agenda for moving to the village. He seems to be hiding a secret from his wife Fern.
I really enjoyed his book. I love the authors characters and his intense storyline that really did keep me engaged from the beginning to the end. It had some good twists that were delivered at just the right moments. It was one of those stories that keep you up because you have to read 'just one more chapter'. Well done Daniel Hurst. I will certainly be looking out for your other books.

Being entirely honest, this was probably 2.5⭐️ but I rounded up to 3.

Fern & Drew have been happily married for a long time, when Drew suggests moving from the city to a small village. Once they move, Fern discovers the true reason why Drew wanted to move there.

First off, the writing is good. The chapters are short and the style of writing is easy to read. My rating doesn’t reflect the physical writing, because I thought that was good!

Instead, my rating is a reflection of the actual story itself. It is wildly predictable, and not very creative. I didn’t mind reading it because the writing was just fine, but the story was very dull for me. Had it been more engaging/ included more of a unique story, I would have read it a lot quicker.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Drew and Fern have what seems to be the perfect marriage, until Drew meets Alice. Drew is enthralled by Alice and breaks his marriage vows to have an affair with her. The story revolves around Fern, Drew, Alice, and her husband, Rory. We know Drew has his secrets, but Fern has her secrets too, and they can be just as toxic.

For me this book was slow to start. The unfolding of the love triangle seemed to take awhile and I had a difficult time remaining engaged. However, once the back story was established, the story picked up and was full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming! I’d give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Anyone who has read a Daniel Hurst book knows from the first line to the last you are going to get a great thrilling story,’The Doctor’s Wife’ his latest,is no different…….as always the book thrives on the premise of ordinary people suddenly having something extraordinary happening to them and the consequences of this and their actions dealing with it
We meet strong, powerful characters in this book who decide revenge is a dish best served cold but the twists and turns come thick and fast and in the authors very own unique storytelling style you never know quite what will happen next as the story turns on its head again and again as the surprises keep coming
As a reader it is very special to have authors who you can pick up their book safe in the knowledge you KNOW you are going to get a great read, this author is one and this book is again testament to his ability to create the WOW factor we as readers love

It’s the first book that I’ve read from this author so going in, I wasn’t sure what to expect. From the get go, I really enjoyed his prose and foreshadowing, and made note to check out some of his other works.

The story is told from two POV’s, the doctor’s wife and the doctor himself. The wife, Fern, made no secret of how vindictive she could be right from the beginning… but just how vindictive? How far could she go to get her revenge on her not so perfect husband? Doctor Drew’s POV left me with little sympathy for him, really, especially the actions he took as medical professional. Some of those actions he undertook during the timeframe of the novel, almost more than almost anything, left me feeling absolutely disgusted as a reader. Especially as a reader who relies on medical professionals.

We find out fairly quickly just why Fern is left feeling so vindictive and while I predicted some of the first major twists, the epilogue offered up a twist that I didn’t predict. Will we get a sequel or be left wondering at the fate of Fern herself?

Overall, this book was an easy read that I finished in two sittings. It never really dragged despite me guessing correctly at some twists, I found myself not really minding as there were enough events in the story that I didn’t guess at - especially when the epilogue came along. If you’re a fan of this genre and author, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review!

This book started off slow, but it was worth the wait! I stayed up way too late finishing this book in one sitting! There were twists and turns every which way you look. You will not regret reading this psychological thriller. How far will a wife go to protect herself?

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this amazing thriller. This is my first Daniel Hurst book and he definitely didn't disappoint. This was an ideal popcorn thriller and I finished it in a day. The book is told in two perspectives of Dr. Drew and Fern. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking out for a fast paced thriller.

Fern is married to Dr. Drew. At his suggestion they swap city life in Manchester for a large home by the sea in the country. They both enter this new venture with different and conflicting hopes and dreams. Both Drew and Fern have big secrets. Daniel Hurst tells this story from multiple viewpoints and timelines, two formats which I always enjoy. This was a quick read but the twists were somewhat predictable. 3.5 stars for me. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

My second book by this author and I was charmed once again by his writing style and his ability to write such an engaging book.

I loved the little tidbits of humor he added to the mix and the title was a giveaway, right? But a giveaway for what? Because it's a crime story, you might think you already guessed what is going to happen before you open the book. Well, I would strongly advice you to open it and get sucked into a story full of deceit and lies amongst other things.

A well thought out plan is a fail proof plan, isn't it. Well, on many occasions I would wholeheartedly agree with you, but when you read a book you always have to take into consideration that the author might put you on the wrong foot. It takes two to tango, so maybe others have created a scheme too. One you have not the slightest idea about and makes you feel so certain you live on cloud nine. But someone is putting holes in your cloud and the way back to earth is one that is going to hurt... a lot.

With a title like this it is only natural you focus on this person. But why? Is she a victim? Is she a culprit? Is she both or none of the above? Who will be the winner in the end or are there only losers? If you want an answer to these questions, it's time for you to stop reading here and get yourself a copy. ;)

I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. 5 stars

Thank you

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advanced reader copy of The Doctor's Wife. It was great! I am just getting to know Daniel Hurst as an author and have really enjoyed my first reads. This book did not disappoint. I read The New Years Party first and then this one. Honestly none of the characters were likeable and all had their flaws. I enjoyed how the book was from both the husband's viewpoint and the wife. No spoilers but the wife was not truthful to the reader so that was a big twist. The epilogue was also a surprise! Check it out.

Firstly, thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author and it definitely won’t be be the last. What can I say wow this book is one of the best thrillers I’ve read in a long time it hooked me from the very first page! It kept glued to my kindle and reading well into the night! I found myself guessing what would happen next and it kept me intrigued.

I would highly recommend everyone to read this book it has plenty of twists and turns throughout! This is definitely a book to be read in 2023 for avid psychological thriller fans.

I wanted to love this , I have found the last few books by Daniel to be incredibly disappointing. The characters aren't likeable and the story had no flow . This lacked alot and was a DNF for me. I loved many of his books last year and the last 3 have been a NO THANK YOU

I so wanted to like this book more!! Loved the premise and I really enjoy psychological thrillers - they are my "Harlequin romances". Sadly while I liked how the book was written from 2 different PoV - Fern and Dr. Drew - neither character was overly likeable and the book was too predictable. Also the ending didn't work for me -
Really? Drew has a friend willing to stick his neck out for him? Not sure I believe that. Overall, moderately entertaining, easy read.

Another blockbuster from Daniel Hurst!! I recently discovered this author in the last few months and have read a few of his books most recently The Couple in the Cabin. I was super excited to be chosen to read this ARC and I honestly was blown away! I spent my afternoon reading this and could not put it down until I finished! What a great story about deception in two marriages and the revenge that awaits them. Definitely my new favorite book of his! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to read this ARC. Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
