This was a twisted story that showed how far one will go to get the sweet taste of revenge. Daniel Hurst did it again, by giving us a thrilling read that I could not put down. The twists just kept coming until the very end. The ending had me wanting just a little bit more. Maybe Daniel has a sequel up his sleeve! Let's hope so because I would be excited to have the story continue.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This book is told between two points of view. Fern and Drew have just moved to a small town in norther England from Manchester. Drew is a doctor, and he has convinced Fern that they should move to a small town so that he can work less and spend more time with her, or at least that’s the lie he tells his wife.
This book started off a little slow, but it soon picked up and was hard to put down. I also liked the twist at the end.
This is my third Daniel Hurst book, and he's quickly turning into one of my favorite thriller writers. The Doctor's Wife is a fun book. The pacing is excellent, with no dull moments. Plus, there are twists upon twists upon twists. Thanks for the advance review copy.
Such a great book! I enjoyed this book from the very first chapter. It definitely had me guessing throughout the whole book.
I give this 3.5 stars.
This was a really interesting read. The story was very well done, fast paced and kept me interested the whole time. There were some good twisty bits which I thoroughly enjoyed. I did guess a couple of them but not all.
I have now read two of this authors books and will definitely be reading more.
A great read that I thoroughly recommend.
I would like to thank Daniel Hurst, NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley I read the book The Doctor's Wife. It was a good read but hard from the beginning. The author uses very long sentences, which I had to reread many times to get what he wanted to say. The style of writing improved later and I was sinking into it. I read it in one sitting because the book was a real page-turner. The book prompts me to sign up for the author's website and check his other books. For sure I will read more of them.
Wow this was the first book I have read by this author and since reading this one have gone on to read another of his books this week.
This was a fast paced domestic thriller which I read in one sitting. It kept me guessing and had lots of twists and turns and every time I turned a page I wanted to find out more. I liked this authors writing style it was entertaining and piqued interest yet still had that element of thriller about it without being too heavy and was an ease read.
Will definitively look forward to reading more of this authors books next year.
Another great book by Daniel Hurst. Full of twists and turns, the story held my attention from beginning to end.
Wow! Daniel Hurst does it again! This was a fun and exciting read. Only my second book of this author but will be closely watching him.
Very well written and executed. Loved the style.
Really engaging characters that kept me invested from beginning to end.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
A great read that I couldn't put down. It was well written and has the suspense and intrigue that fans of Daniel Hurst love and expect.
Too predictable and the pacing too slow for my taste. But I really enjoy the epilogue.
If you haven't read too many mystery/ thrillers then you might enjoy this novel. As an avid reader, this didn't offer anything new.
***I would like to thank NetGalley, Daniel Hurst (the author), and Bookouture for graciously sending me a copy to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***
My first book by Daniel Hurst and I was looking forward to reading but I found it a slow read and the characters very unlikeable I just couldn't get into it at all.I did read till the end as I don't like leaving a book but I was definitely underwhelmed,
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
A very clever read. Loved the character development throughout the book. I’ve put several of this author’s books in my wish list now.
First off, I hated the female character—Fern. Boring and uninteresting. I don't know how to feel about this book. I didn't like it but it wasn't that awful.
I don't know why a couple would still stay in a marriage when it's clear that they're not in-love anymore with each other anymore. I mean, all things considered, it's better to just walk away and spare yourselves the trouble of heartache and guilt.
I know that Fern is the victim here but it was so hard to like her. She's pushy and creepy and all those games she kept mentioning all the time weren't as exciting as she made it sound. Nothing about this book is twisty or shocking. The supposed dangerous plot is formulaic that I easily guessed it after the crime was carried out.
Ugh. Did I say I hated the main character? Oh, yes I did. Anyway. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC!
thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read this before its official release in exchange for an honest review.
first of all, fuck drew and alice but especially drew. UGH!
this book was a bit more slower paced than i expected, and was a bit repetitive? i feel like all the exciting/ anticipated scenes happened super quickly at the very end. it was also EXTREMELY predictable, which isnt necessarily a bad thing but its just a bit disappointing (but also slightly comforting?) when a book has no surprises.
HOWEVER i think that the writing overall was great, pretty detailed and descriptive and i enjoyed it overall!!
3.5 stars rounded up to 4!
Daniel Hurst is one of my favourite authors and this new book certainly didn’t disappoint. A MUST READ!!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE TWISTS AND YOU WILL NOT GUESS THE ENDING! THIS BOOK MUST BE READ BY EVERYONE ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I am a huge Daniel Hurst fan and have loved all his books but I truly think this is his best one yet! I literally could not put it down. Full of twists and turns, lies and deceit. I loved all of the characters, even the ones you were meant to hate. I loved the ending. I loved everything about it, There could totally be a sequel written for The Doctor's Wife, here's to hoping we get one!!!!
I "discovered" Daniel Hurst's books several months ago and have read many of them. This was another great one from one of my "new" favorite authors! Rory and his wife, Alice, have moved away to a quiet village to work on their marriage. Alice has been having an affair with Dr. Drew who then decides to upend his wife, Fern, to the same village to try to reignite his affair with Alice. It is a true psychological thriller with many twists and turns that you will not see coming - it kept me interested, and I can't wait to read more of Mr. Hurst's books!
This was the first Daniel Hurst novel that I've read, and it will definitely not be my last!! This fast-paced thriller was packed with secrets and lies, vengeful scheming, and extremely devious characters. The plot was somewhat predictable, but I still had fun with this one!! There is nothing more satisfying to me than reading about someone who is wronged exacting their revenge. It just never gets old. Fern is my new hero for the day! If you are a Hurst fan or a newbie like me who likes cold-hearted revenge, then The Doctor's Wife is a must read! You will not be disappointed!
Thank you to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley for allowing me to preview this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion!!
So many secrets and lies, this was so hard to put down to see what happens next.
Marriage and an affair. Who knows what? What does he or she think, do, say?
Who’s playing who? I promise if you love a mystery that twists, turns, plots and plays with your mind this will do it.
I’m not sure how I feel about the first part of the ending. The part I'm a bit confused with is how it could possibly even happen, it just doesn’t seem believable to me. The 2nd part of the ending is a good little cliffhanger which is great!
This is a great book, I will definitely be following Daniel Hurst now!
