This is such a delightful, romantic comedy that has opposites attract as well as grumpy sunshine, which are two of my favorite tropes. We have kitty who is a feline expert and is supposed to help Miles a hockey player who happens to be watching his mothers, cat prince Frances. even the beginning of the relationship starts off with a mishap. There is so much banter, and of course, prince Frances only as to the fun of the story. I love seeing the relationship develop between kitty and Miles, because who doesn’t love a grumpy sunshine Romance. It’s a fun entertaining read from start to finish.

This was my book club July bookclub pick. I loved all the fun and unique conversations that this story brought us; however, the cringe factor of this one was too much for me. As a cat mother, I couldn't get over all the sex cat puns. It was a hard no for me. Bingo button. No, no, no. I love you, Helena. I do, but no. "Want to make out before we take our clothes off" left me wanting to take a cold shower with the embarrassment I had. Will I continue to read everything you publish? Yes, I will, but I will not read this one again. One was enough for me. I love you, though.

Okay listen, when I started this book ... OOF. I was not a fan. I kept setting it down and not wanting to pick it back up. A friend was reading the ARC with me and she said, "it gets better keep going". So I did and she was RIGHT! It DOES get better. But that beginning?!?! Wayyyyyy too many cat puns and weirdness. ( And this is coming from a crazy cat lady! lol) The author definitely chills on all the puns, but the beginning just kind of still ruined it for me. :(
ADORABLE premise, but not one I'm likely to recommend.

I’m a longtime fan of Helena Hunting, and while this book is cute and charming, it isn’t my favorite. The pacing felt really slow, not much happened, and there was a difficult balance between Kitty and Miles and their awkward, sort of goofy relationship and personality and the intense issues — like parental trauma and the loss of loved ones — they grappled with. I liked the representation of both Kitty and Miles’ bodies and realistic lifestyles, and it was fun to see all of the different animal personalities. However, I felt like I had to force myself to finish this story, which is unfortunate because I usually love Helena’s writing. With that being said, if you are into relatively closed door, quirky romantic comedies with an emphasis on domestic scenes and no third act break ups— you’ll enjoy this! Not for me, but definitely for someone. 2.5 stars.

This crazy cat lady loved all the cat references and puns! Maybe they were a little excessive for some, but I honestly enjoyed it and felt it added some subtle humor!

This was one of my favorite books this year! I am a cat lover so it made me happy to see that this was a story that featured cats. Most are about dogs or puppies.

I loved the depth of the characters and the realistic challenges they faced. Enemies to lovers is such a fun trope in this book. It works perfectly for the story. There are some sad things about the book, but the love that comes through makes it a little sweeter!

As a non-cat lover, the bar was pretty low for this story. (Don't come for me... I'm highly allergic!!!) This was actually so cute! The puns were purrrr-fect. I can never have enough. There was only one overall ick (bingo button?!?) but overall I laughed a lot, and the relationship was believable. I also enjoyed how interconnected a lot of the secondary characters were, and would read a spinoff for a few of them! Thanks to Forever and NetGalley for the review copy.

I usually love Helena Hunting's books, but this one didn't do it for me. It was solid and cute, but just not my favorite of hers.

I like Helena Hunting, and this book was cute enough. A little cheesy and a lot punny and sometimes the quirkiness of our fmc could be a little over the top, but I liked the fun lighthearted romance with just enough serious moments to give the characters a little depth. I liked the conversations that were had about grief and dementia. Quick, fun, and easy romance

A super fun read…lots of comedic moments with cats and dogs and a lovely romance between two people with tragedy in their pasts.

Helena Hunting's A Love Catastrophe is a very light-hearted romantic comedy that not only left me grinning ear to ear but more like hopeless romantic moron. Loved how it had Hunting's signature wit and humor too!!

I am a huge cat lover, and have my own sassy feline, so I feel like I was the target audience for this book, but the contstant cat references and cat puns were over the top. At first I thought it was cute, but then it became distracting and grating. As for the characters, while I enjoy a story that centers around more awkard love interests, I just couldn't really connect with Kitty and Miles. They both were rather bland, and when I am not emotionally invested in the characters finding their HEA, it becomes very difficult for me to enjoy a book. I also really did not enjoy the intimate scenes, especially the cringey terms such as "bingo button."

The story jumped around a lot, from ultra-cheesy moments to heavy topics such as trauma, dementia, and grieving. While I don't mind a romance with heavier topics, it was not integrated well into the story and it make the book feel disjointed.

Unfortuantely, this one was a miss for me and I did not finish reading once it got to the third act. Since this was a DNF, I did not assign a star rating to it on my social media outlets.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review.

I normally love Helena Huntings books so I was excited to get this one. I have to say while I thought it was okay, it just wasn’t my favorite.
I think many will enjoy, this just wasn’t for me.

A Love Catastrophe
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Author: Helena Hunting

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: Kitty Hart has become internet famous as the Kitty Whisperer for her expertise on all things feline, and as a result, her cat-sitting business is booming. But lately, she has a terrible feeling that maybe her life isn’t quite going where it’s supposed to—especially after falling face-first into her newest client. Not exactly the best first impression.

Fortunately, Miles Thorn is just as bad at first impressions. Strike one: he doesn’t like cats, especially Prince Francis, the haughty and mischievous Sphynx his mom left in his care. Strike two: tackling Kitty to the floor in a misguided attempt to save the pet he continually calls “the gremlin.”

As awkwardness slides into attraction and things start to turn purr-sonal, will these two complete opposites ever be able to find their furry-tail ending?

My Thoughts: This was a cute romcom, started off a little slow, building the character backstories. The meet cute exchange is adorable. Kitty Heart is famous in the Internet as the “Kitty Whisperer.” When client, Miles Thorn, walks into her life, he is especially a thorn on her side. This follows the tropes of meet cute, enemies to lovers, and grump v sunshine.

The story is narrated by both Kitty and Miles in a dual POV. Kitty is sweet, has a good heart and is quirky. Miles is very serious, grumpy, but independent person taking care of his mother. Neither were looking for a serious relationship with they began the professional relationship and it was slowly crossed over. The characters were well developed with depth, witty banter, mad chemistry, and intriguing. The author’s writing style was complex, swoony, humorous, and brilliant. I love a Hunting romcom, it just lifts my mood, I can always count on that from Hunting. She is one of go-to authors for romcoms.

I recommend picking up the book or the audiobook. While I had the arc for the digital book, I ended listening on audiobook as I got a little behind in my reviews. The narrators were amazing and did a fantastic job at voice variation and really gave life to the characters. Go pick up this book now!

Kitty and Miles are one of the most awkwardest couple….but I really liked them! The story was filled with cuteness, mix that with some enemies to lovers, and you’ve got a wholesome beach read. The emotional depth was more than I expected with this style of romcom but I thoroughly enjoyed it. This has a little bit everything. There were also a few steamy scenes. I’m a fan of Helena Hunting and this is the first cutesy romcom I’ve read of hers. Highly recommend her Pucked series.

I absolutely loved this book. The set up and the pacing between hate and like to friendship to lovers was great. I devoured this in almost a full day once I read it this week..I started on a Friday and finished late Saturday night.

Thank you netgalley and publishers for the chance to read and review. This will be on blog sometime in future, but for now Netgalley is good to keep up with. (I'm getting married next month.)

This was my first Helena Hunting book and I just felt like it was…. overhyped. A good chunk of the book is spent telling us, and in my head, I hear my high school creative writing teacher saying, “show, don’t tell” and I think that’s why I struggled so much with this.

This book follows Kitty, who owns her own professional cat-sitting business. She calls herself Kitty, the cat Whisperer. And then we have Miles, who’s basically anti-cat who works as an analyst for the NHL, whose mom is in the hospital and he needs help taking care of her cat. Miles hires Kitty, and they have such awkward interactions I had some secondhand embarrassment, which I also struggle with when trying to read through it.

It was definitely a unique story and it was cute!

A LOVE CATASTROPHE is Helena Hunting at her finest. Kitty and Miles were such a joy to read and I loved all the shenanigans they got up to. While Kitty is a professional cat sitter and Miles is a buttoned-up hockey analyst, these two opposites seem to have nothing in common, but as they say, these opposites do indeed attract. After his mom moves into assisted living following her early-onset dementia diagnosis, Miles hires Kitty to watch Prince Francis, his mom's beloved sphynx cat. Sparks fly as they get to know each other more, and they finally give in to the attraction they feel towards each other.

This story has a lot of fun, but it also deals with a lot of issues that people deal with on a daily basis. Getting a business off the ground and making a good impression at work; wanting people to take your unconventional business seriously and being a care partner for your loved one; and honestly, just surviving in this crazy world. If you're looking for a feel-good read that's fun and sexy and emotional and sweet, A LOVE CATASTROPHE is for you!

Thank you to the author, Forever, and NetGalley for the early copy of A LOVE CATASTROPHE to read and review. Pick this one up today!

As a cat lover I was here for all of the cat puns and kitty drama that ensues in A Love Catastrophe. I loved Miles but Kitty was a bit hard to deal with at times. At the beginning she was constantly judging Miles for being a dog person and she tended to jump to conclusions. I loved how there was not a third act break up! While this was not my favorite book by Helena Hunting, I would recommend it to anyone who loves cats and happily ever afters.
