Kitty Hart is a social media Kitty Whisperer! Her business is booming, but her latest client is a challenge. Miles Thorn is inheriting cleaning out his mother's home while finding a safe place for her to stay. Her cat is not happy about the change. This is a cute rom-com! I love Helena Hunting and her quirky characters!

I enjoyed the premise of a quirky animal-lover romance, and this one certainly had some funny moments. However I didn't feel particularly connected to any of the characters, they didn't have much chemistry, and the pacing of the romance felt off. Miles was unlikeable at first but did grow on me eventually. I found Kitty to be painfully awkward and immature, though. She was meant to come across as quirky and cute, but it felt like the author was trying too hard to make her unique. I did add another entry to my list of "least favorite ways authors refer to the vagina or clitoris" at least.

I appreciated that the book balanced humorous animal jokes with some heavier themes like grief and the burden of taking care of ailing family members. However often the jump from funny to heavy to steamy was too abrupt.

I have enjoyed other books by this author, but this one wasn't for me.

The first few pages of this book didn't sell themselves very well, but the writing got much better a little ways in. So did the story, which is a sweet and somewhat steamy rom-com featuring Kitty, a professional cat sitter, and Miles, an NHL data analyst. They bond over helping Miles' mom, who has dementia and cannot live alone or care for her cat any longer. They also connect over their grief for family members who passed away several years before, both helping the other realize that they're shouldering responsibility for those losses that, in reality, is not theirs to bear. There's a lot to like about this book - it's witty and tender with very relatable characters. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Forever, an imprint of Grand Central Publishing, for a chance to read an e-arc of this book, which hit shelves in June.

What is with the cats?? I love cats.. but seriously it was Cat this, and Kit that .. just So.Much.Cat.
Definitely not my favorite book by this author, but if you are a Helena Hunting fan, give it a read.. you will likely enjoy it, sadly this one one just wasn’t for me.
I would recommend for any Helena Hunting fan.

thanks for sending me an ARC. however, i really hated this book. i would have DNF'd it if i didn't feel an obligation to finish. the writing was trite and i really have nothing positive to say about this. if i knew this was cat-based and so heavily punny i wouldn't have requested it

I really liked Miles and Kitty, they are so funny and awkward in the best way. There are so many funny moments in this book and the romance is super cute. I loved the parts about Wilfred and Prince Francis, especially as a pet owner, I also appreciated that Hunting covered a little about cyberbullying and how we don't ever really see the full story. The story had good flow and there weren't really any major slow parts.

My absolute favorite thing about this book is that there was no third act break up. They drive me insane,

Thank you Netgalley and Forever Romance for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I had a hard time getting into this book, it was trying to be enemies to lovers, but Kitty and Miles seemed to be trying to find reasons not to like, once they got over that, it was a really cute story.

This was my first book by Helena Hunting and it was absolutely adorable. I could not get enough of the main character Kitty. She was so darling and the perfect cat caretaker. I am so glad that she won grumpy Miles over. He definitely needed someone like her in his life, especially with the troubles that he was going through.
I would recommend this story to cat lovers and rom com lovers!

This book was so much fun! I’m a big fan of Helena’s work. They are always sweet, hilarious, and super sexy. I did like that there were some heavier topics touched on in the book such as death and grief, and it was handled in a really great way as we watched Kitty and Miles fall in love. Def would recommend this!

Helena Hunting is an autobuy author for me. I LOVE her style of storytelling, she is a unique voice in the rom-com world and I almost universally love everything she writes. That said, this one was not my favorite. For me, the last 1/3 of the book was the Helena Hunting I love, but everything before that was slow and hard to slug through. I love a quirky awkward character, but it was a bit too much with this one. Not every book is for every reader, and this one wasn't for me. That's ok, because its audience is out there, and I have no doubt I'll love the next one this author puts out there.

The Love Catastophe

I want to say that I loved it. But I just kind of liked it.

There were some very deep personal situations that really made the book interesting and emotional but there was also a lot of the same thing repeated over and over. The same conversations and situations it seemed and it took me forever to finish.

I think it could have been shortened with some things and I would have liked it a little more.

I loved Kittys growth within the story as well as Miles. This is one of those love stories where they come into each others lives at the exact right time and make everything easier and better.

Kitty is sunshine and unicorn farts in a bottle. She just radiates happiness and I loved it. Also loved all the animals in the story too.

The Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting is a cute beach read about two people who find each other, support each other, love each other . . . and with no major drama. Honestly, it was refreshing to read a book about two main characters who communicate and have each other’s back. So many books use the miscommunication/break-up trope, and it was a pleasure to read a book without all the angst. 3.5 stars.

As part time pet sitter, I can attest cats can be jerks. No matter what you do for them.

Kitty is the Kitty Whisperer and she is a character that leaps off the pages. Enter Miles, the numbers guy, who is amused by this woman who enters his life to care for mother’s Sphinx cat. Well opposites do attract and for some reason these two can’t help themselves.

This book was adorable and the characters were fun to watch fall for each other. There’s a side story about their respective moms which was explored more.

This was a super cute rom-com! I've enjoyed all of the Helena Hunting books I've read so far. The cat theme was a little too much for me, but I overall thought the love story was sweet!

Many thanks to Forever for the ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
My friend recently returned a book she borrowed and gave me a adorably pun-filled Bookish Cats tote, which made me think of this pun-filled romance between a perky cat sitter and a dog-loving hockey statistician 😻🏒🤓
Kitty (yes the cat sitter’s name is Kitty) and Miles have an awkward meeting, but I really enjoyed witnessing their romance. I mixed reading my eARC with the audio from my library. I especially enjoyed when the Canadian accents were particularly noticeable, especially when characters said “sorry” - I always smiled extra during those apologies. Each of the chapters has a punny title which is a fun detail. I also thought the author did a good job handling some more serious topics (dementia, death of family members, hoarding, social media backlash) without bringing down the fun romcom vibes.
This was a fun combination of quirky cat person and nerdy hockey romance, even though the MMC doesn’t play hockey. I recommend this book - especially the audio if you enjoy Canadian accents as much as I do!

Kitty Hart is the Kitty Whisperer, a cat sitter and trainer with an Instagram following for her cat expertise. Her newest client is Miles Thorn, or more accurately, Prince Francis, his mother's cat. Miles and Kitty start off on the wrong foot, but a scary allergic reaction breaks down some of their walls and allows them to see that maybe they have more in common than they thought.

This is a classic rom-com with all the things I love. It's sentimental, hilarious, and heartwarming. Kitty's tendency to blurt out everything she's feeling is so relatable and I just adored her. Miles is another very lovable character. Great summer read!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for the ARC of A Love Catastrophe.

I received an eARC copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was my first Helena Hunting book and I have to say I was disappointed. I have heard people rave about her books, and maybe this was just a miss. I might give her writing a try again in the future but I am not sure.

This book was cute, but so cringy. I don’t mind a bit of cringe with my romance. But this was annoyingly cringy. I almost DNF'ed it so many times because of the writing and storytelling. The characters just felt annoying and stereotypical. There wasn't anything fun or exciting about them. The FMC's whole personality was that she loved cats… and that was basically it. The MMC's personality stemmed from him hating cats. And we spent so many pages of them bickering about how cats or dogs were better. It was not believable at all that the MMC fell for the FMC and vice versa.

The author did try to add depth with what was going on with the MMC's mom having dementia and the FMC losing her father years prior. But it didn’t help the story in my opinion. It should have added depth to the characters, but it didn’t in my opinion.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of “Love Catastrophe” by Helen Huntng. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed how the author tackled grief and losing a family member. I thought it was beautifully captured and well explained. That was one of the strongest points of this book. Also love that there was no third act breakup that the couple has to overcome and no miscommunication trope.

This is definitely a book for cat lovers so perhaps it’s not for me. That was a bit much at times and I wouldn’t want to be friends with Kitty and Miles in real life.

Sometimes it felt like the writing was more telling and not enough showing. But I would read another book from this author, and have added a few to my tbr list. I am hopeful that there is a second book with Josh and Hattie. I would definitely read that.

After hitting the 50% mark, I just knew I could not continue. Kitty is just too much. The whole cat thing was leaned into too much. I did like the main male character.

This was such a fun story as we follow Kitty and Miles on their journey of finding love within themselves and each other. Laced with heartwarming humor each character has a journey of self discovery and learns what it means to move forward from family trauma and the loss of loved ones. They learn what it means to love yourself and find love in the process. This book was like a warm hug with a pinch of spice. Helena Hunting has done it again with this romantic comedy.
