Give me all the books writing by this author! Helena Hunting is one of my favorite authors. She makes me laugh and fall in love with the characters before the book is over. I always know when I pick up one of her books I am going to smile at some point and be sucked into the story. This one was no different. A Love Catastrophe was a fun quick read.
Oh my god I read a lot of modern romance and this book was so stinkin' sweet and I loved every minute of it. I loved the sunshine/grump dynamic between the two main characters, Kitty and Miles. I loved how eccentric Kitty was with her cat whisperer job and that she was also a social media influencer and even though Miles made a couple missteps with Kitty in the beginning they had such a sweet and honest relationship. One thing I really enjoyed about this book is that a lot of contemporary romances rely on an issue between the two MCs to create conflict but this one had an outside conflict for Kitty and Miles was so sweet and supportive for her. I think both of their characters had a lot of growth especially when it came to dealing with their families and also just as a couple and growing together. This book was such an easy and lovely read and I'd recommend it to any romance lovers.
This was a cute romantic comedy. If you're a cat lover you will enjoy this. Overall a good read.

All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Miles is a sexy stats man who works for an NHL team but he needs help with his mom’s cat while she’s hospitalized and moves into specialized housing. I loved that hockey is still a part of the story (as I’m obsessed). Enter Kitty Hart the cat whisperer. Mile’s needs Kitty to take care of Prince Francis and along the way the strangers become friends and then more.
.
The book has a few open door scenes but if you’ve read other books by Helena, this is very tame! A huge thanks to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for my newest book boyfriend (Miles) not Prince Francis.
"Sometimes, we have to let go of the past to make room for a brighter future."
Another super cute summer read that you should all get your hands on :) Kitty Hart is known on social media as The Kitty Whisperer. She's absolutely amazing with cats, and her profile has caused her cat-sitting business to do extremely well. One day, she gets a call from a brand new client, and that client is none other than the handsome Miles Thorn. Miles is a NHL data analyst, and to be honest, he's more of a cat person than a dog person. The only reason he called Kitty was to help take care of his mom's cat, because she hasn't been doing too well. When Kitty and Miles meet, their first impressions are not it. I'm talking about a hilarious meet-cute. The two constantly butt heads (I mean, it's a dog person vs. a cat person, so what can we expect🤷♀️). Kitty and Miles are polar opposites, as we've got a woman who loves sunshine and smiling, and a man who is grumpy pretty much all the time. But, opposites attract...and the chemistry is there. Also, Kitty and Miles come from a lot of family trauma. Hearing about the tragedies of Kitty's father and Miles' little brother, and how it affected their families, made me cry😭 Such a wonderful story about learning to forgive oneself, self-growth, and staying true to who you are.
This was cute, especially if you love cats. There wasn’t much up and down tempo to this, it was just cute in a refreshing easy read kind of way.
This book was so fun and had me laughing out loud in places! Hunting has a way with writing witty banter and misadventures that kept me turning the pages, eager to see what was going to happen next.
REVIEW
⚠️cw: bereavement, grief, dementia, anxiety⚠️
Miles Thorn is a data analyst for an NHL team. He's just started a new job, suddenly has to find long-term care for his mother, and someone to look after her demanding Sphinx cat. Kitty Hart is a professional cat sitter. When Miles seeks her help, they don't get off to the best start. But as they get to know each other more, they realize they have more in common than they think.
I really loved Miles. He was adorable and awkward, but such a cinnamon roll, and I appreciated the commentary on his physical insecurities. His backstory was heartbreaking, but I really enjoyed the depth in what at first appeared to be quite a light-hearted, silly (in the best way) rom-com. I adored that Kitty loved everything cat-related, from her curses to the print on her underwear. She was authentically quirky, clumsy, and just as awkward as Miles, and I really appreciated the parallels in their stories, and particularly how they found solace in each other. I also loved how supportive they were of each other. If I have one minor criticism, it's that there wasn't quite enough grumpiness at the beginning (but that's because I love a LOT of snark). Still, there were some fun supporting characters who I'd love to see more of: hopefully they'll appear in future books? Basically, I want more Parker, Josh, Kat, and Hattie. Oh, and that epilogue was perfect!
This probably won't be for everyone, but if you love Violet and Lavender from the Pucked/Hearts, Lies, & Truths books, you're going to love Kitty and Miles. As someone who loves cats, hockey, and romance, it felt like it was written for me.

I enjoyed this for the most part. I loved the premise and enjoyed the characters and their individual stories. Loved the animals and the stories of dementia and grief. I just felt the hero and heroine chemistry was just okay and wanted to like them together more. Other than that an cute and easy read. I am giving this book 3.5 stars (though it’s 4 stars for this arc.
Kitty has found her perfect job- a cat whisperer! She works with people helping them with their cats and their behavioral issues. She also does cat sitting. She’s called to a new client where she meets the handsome Miles, who is taking care of his mother’s cat while she’s in the hospital. Prince Francis is a hairless cat that’s missing his owner and acting out while he’s lonely.
Miles is not a cat person, but knows PF is dear to his mother who is suffering from dementia. He calls Kitty for help and ends up tackling her when they first meet. Kitty is standoffish because she thinks he hates cats. Really he’s just preoccupied with his NHL data job and taking care of his mother all on his own. Kitty recognizes he’s in need of help and they begin a friendship (and more!) as they help Prince Francis.
Both Miles and Kitty are going through something each and it’s really sweet that they help each other. Kitty’s family is still grieving the loss of her father and they are stuck while trying to figure out how to move on. They also don’t respect her job and she wants to prove that she’s doing fine running her own business.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a little silly, but it had a lot of heart and tackled a few heavy topics. I personally love all the cat puns. I also thought it was really adorable that Miles was into hockey themed items as much as Kitty loved cat things. They were meant to be! It’s a must read for cat lovers.
Thank you to @readforeverpub and @helenahunting for my gifted ebook. A Love Catastrophe is out now!
a cute and charming romcom that was delightful.
thank you to netgalley and to the publisher for this review copy.
Initial Thoughts: You may have noticed that I titled this one differently than my normal review. Here’s the facts. I was at 73% in this novel when I went off on vacation. At that point in time I was enjoying the story, it was quirky, sometimes a little silly but overall a delightful little read. However when I tried to pick up the story while on my trip, it was no longer hitting the spot. The full on relationship status between Miles and Kitty as we approached the inevitable conflict was not super engaging to me and then the conflict itself just felt like it was reaching.
For Reader Awareness: Central plot surrounding a parent with dementia, loss of close relatives (off page)
Recommended for: Probably anyone who enjoys a quirky rom com.
Reviewer Notes: I honestly can’t say if this was a case of “it’s not you it’s me” due to my trip or if this one just didn’t wrap well. So take my review with a grain of salt, read the blurb (if that’s your thing) and if it sounds good, give it a try. Curious to hear what others thought. Edit to add: I definitely plan to try one of Hunting’s hockey novels.

Miles is working as a Data Analytics needs a cat sitter for his mom’s cat because she’s in the hospital. There’s a website called kitty whisperer and that’s where he meets kitty and hires her to look after Prince Francis.
I had high hopes for this book. I typically love everything Helena Hunting writes. However this is definitely an interesting read like I don’t know it’s kind of funny, cringing cute all the same time it’s giving first time high school s*x not adult so kind of weird. I almost DNF it at bingo button. I’m glad I pushed through and finished it. Overall it was okay but a little to cringy for my liking

“A Love Catastrophe” follows Kitty Hart, a cat lover, cat-sitter, and cat influencer, as she accepts to care for a cutesy little cat for a not-so-cutesy, low-key rude guy. Miles Thorn isn’t much of a cat person, but he has to find someone to care for his mother’s cat, Prince Francis, as she moves on to a long-term care facility—and that’s where Kitty comes in, in all her Cat Whisperer glory.
I thought I was coming in a little biased on this one, as Helena Hunting has been one of my favorite authors this past year, but the truth is not even that could help me overcome the cringe-y puns contained in this book. I am as much a cat lover as any other crazy cat lady, but really? Do we think we people talk like that in real life?
Setting the cringe-yness aside, “A Love Catastrophe” was still a cute, light, and quick read. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a quirky read that, although touches on some heavy subjects, overall leaves you all bubbly and giggly. Definitely will be re-reading this after some heavy reads.

Okay...
well...
First off, A LOVE CATASTROPHE is very slow. And I don't mean a slow burn, I mean a slooooowww book.
This was definitely the most awkward romance I have ever read. I don't mind a few more realistic awkward moments in my romance reads. It can be pretty endearing when not every main characters is a sex god or goddess.
But this book was just a master class in really awkward interactions. This includes the most uncomfortable sex scene I have ever read. There was absolutely nothing hot or sexy about this scene. It's just the main characters awkwardly talking through every single moment while I cat howls at the door and a workout playlist plays.
I finally found myself low key skimming the sexy scenes.
Let me repeat that: I. SKIMMED. THE. SEX. SCENES.
That pretty much covers my thoughts on this book. A LOVE CATASTROPHE was not for me.
𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚: ⭐️
𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗔𝗠 𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗟: Rated R / 2-4 descriptive sex scenes, may have harsh language.
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦: past death of sibling, past death of parent, parent with Alzheimer's
𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗟𝗦: 3/5 - You will definitely feel some feels.
I love a friends to lovers trope, and this one warmed the heart ❤️
Miles is looking for someone to care for his mom’s cat while she is in the hospital. Enter Kitty, the cat sitter of your dreams. Do I kinda hate the name “Kitty” for a cat sitter? Yes, but I’ll let it slide.😽
While this was a fun and lighthearted read, it also dealt with some serious topics regarding the loss of a partner and dementia. I found comfort in the support that Miles and Kitty were able to provide for each other.
Read if you’re a fan of a cute romance without steam 🔥. Thank you to Helena for not using the traditional 3rd act breakup!

Lighthearted, witty, and a super fun time! Kitty and Miles are so fun! Helena Hunting always brings the fun and this was no exception!
A Love Catastrophe was an Infectious, charming and full of heart story. Full of Helena Hunting’s trademark charm, insight, laughter for, this romcom was exactly what I needed.
I’m a cat lover and I married a man who HATES cats, I mean his words are “ I’ll get you anything you want but a cat NEVER”…I mean we settled on a rabbit LOL
Kitty is the cat lover, the cat whisperer and Miles loves dogs… only dogs and cats… definitely not for him.
I loved our their relationship blossomed despite all the hurdles they had to face- I mean they had nothing in common to start with but the more they get to know about each other the closer they get…
This romcom is charming and hugely entertaining read ...
Some of Miles and Prince Francis scenes made me giggled and LOL- I could so picture the scenes in my head.
Full of humour and heart, HH delivers another must-read. I loved it.
Thanks to the publisher for the e-copy.
I am 100% a cat person, and I thought this book was super cute. It has typical Helena Hunting style banter and plot, and it's a quick and fun read.
Kitty is a professional cat sitter. Miles is a dog person needing help with his mom's cat while she's in the hospital. He calls Kitty, she agrees to help care for Prince Francis, and during it all, there are many awkward moments and lots of sparks.
There are a few heavier topics thrown in, such as a parent with dementia, child/sibling loss, and parent loss.
