A Love Catastorphe is an enjoyable, quick read, contemporary romance. It has the bad first impression (cat lover vs. dog lover) turned into a love match.

What a cute summer read. Helena always knows how to win the hearts of her readers. I couldn’t put this book down. From the beginning to the end was incredible. 5 star read

Sweet and quirky. This story was a good combination of romance and family relationships. When Kitty Hart and Miles Thorn meet, it's anything but love at first sight. They immediately clash and judge one another. Even though there's some chemistry, there's way more initial animosity. But then over time, they get to know one another and things begin to change.

This book doesn't have any big wow moment. It's just a steady climb towards a happy ending. Along the way, the main characters do deal with some tough topics - - dementia in a loved one, death of a loved one and so on. Yet, instead of being topics that are shelved and not discussed, these actually seem to bring Kitty and Miles closer together.

If you're looking for a romantic story that takes you on a simple journey through life's trials and gives you a dose of happily ever after at the end, this may be the book for you. Couple that with some sweet pets and you have a winner.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

I really enjoyed this one!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Forever Pub for my advanced copy of A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting.

I don't really have a lot to say about this one.
It was a fun, quick and easy read. It has humor but also deals with heavier topics.
I got exactly what I needed out of it.
Why it Lost a Star- It's slightly forgettable. I'll definitely recommend it to my reader friends but I can guarantee I'll forget specifics.

I didn’t get a chance to submit my review to NetGalley before the release date, but I don’t feel bad about it. I just didn’t enjoy this book as much as I thought. There is a lot of cute banter amongst the main characters, this was a very grumpy sunshine’s trope. Enemies to lovers trope, but it still couldn’t keep me intrigued enough to finish it in a timely manner.

Kitty is an young cat trainer, who has a business, and she refers to herself as the kitty whisperer. Miles on the other hand does statistics for a hockey team to determine which way is a win or lose a game then his mother gets sick, he needs someone to take care of her cat and who does he call? Kitty the cat whisperer.

Like I said this book just didn’t do it for me. There’s a couple spicy scenes that I thought were pretty cute but other than that it just dragged on and on and I was waiting for a real problem in the story which there wasn’t really any. .

Helena Hunting wrote an adorable yet serious romance novel involving cats and the real life experience of taking care of a loved one with dementia. While I have experience with both caring for a loved one with dementia and I am a house and pet sitter (often for cats who are honestly not my favorite, but gosh darn it they seem to love me ha ha) I enjoyed this novel and both the serious and light-hearted moments of it.

While I am not a fie hard cat person I did appreciate the quirky fun nature of Kitty and her blooming relationship with Miles and his feline friend. Moreso than that I enjoyed Helena Hunting's story telling ability and her character development. She pulled me into a story that was difficult to embrace for a variety of reasons an had me hook line and cat toy!

💭Thoughts:
This is the fun, cheesy, cat centric book I didn’t know I needed in my life. I could see this book being very polarizing, either you embrace your inner crazy cat lady or you turn and run. I decided to enjoy all the quirkiness because boy is there a lot of it. This book is heavy with the cat puns!

The story has a bit of a pacing issue. It really slowed in the middle and felt like there was an extra fifty pages of unnecessary story. I wasn’t a big fan of the third act drama.

I enjoyed the romance between Kitty and Miles. I thought they were cute together. Miles grumpy self grew on me.

Overall, I recommend this book to people who like cats, romance, and a lot of quirkiness!

“The Love Catastrophe” is about Miles hiring help from Kitty, a social media goddess who has her own cat-sitting businesses. While Miles is figuring out his mom’s current battle with dementia, he’s also giving Kitty full reins with his mom’s “horrific” cat.

Though they are seen as complete opposites (Miles is a dog person and a hockey nerd), they actually do fit in several ways: both experience grief and guilt, both are devoted to their mothers, and both have tendencies to spew verbal vomit.

I didn’t mind the awkwardness between these two. I’m sooo awkward and totally get it. A slow burn indeed, the book made us wait for the chemistry to appear. Miles and Kitty are super sweet together; they really do appear in each other’s life at the perfect time. I appreciated the realistic pace of the love story (AND the fact there’s no 3rd act conflict).

Because of the TWs of dementia, death of a parent, and death of a child, it took me longer to read (they hit home to me). In the end, I was left with the emotional feels and tingles that come with a romcom.

If you’re looking for an opposites attract/enemies to friends to lovers romcom with no ties to a series, “The Love Catastrophe” will deliver with its dog and cat fiascos and tender loving moments.

A lighthearted, warm fuzzy, kind of story 🥰 but also brings in some real life challenges.

Kitty’s personality is one of a kind! She is quirky, unique, & doesn’t care what others think of her, or what she does. But she is also human, & has obstacles & struggles just like everyone else. I also loved how Miles never once tried to change her 👏🏻 they helped & supported one another, while also being total opposites! Cat lover vs dog lover 😂

In addition to lots of funny moments, there was some serious family, & individual, elements, that I felt were handled well. Definitely check TW before reading if you need to.

I have read a few of Helena’s books before & LOVED them, so this was on my list for a while! She has quickly become an auto read author for me, & her backlist of books is calling my name!

Thank you @readforeverpub @netgalley for the early copy! A Love Catastrophe is OUT NOW!!!

I read this after multiple heavy reads in a row and it was the perfect palate cleanser. Kitty Hart is internet famous after her business, The Kitty Whisperer, where she trains and cares for cats, takes off. Miles Thorn is a statistical analyst for the local professional hockey team. Miles hires Kitty to help care for his mothers cat after she lands in the hospital, and their first meeting is anything other than ideal. Kitty is upbeat and loves cats, whereas Miles is grumpy and is a dog person. But you know how they say opposites attract… 😉

There were so many cat puns in this one. I’m most definitely not a cat person, but I admire Helena’s ability to come up with it all! While this book was a bit corny at times, there were so many things I liked about it! We must acknowledge that there was no third act breakup! 🙌🙌 I can’t explain enough how much I enjoyed reading about a conflict that wasn’t a breakup over miscommunication! There was actually not really any miscommunication between the male and female leads, and I loved it. They were very open and honest from the beginning. Also there’s a little bit of 🔥 🔥 so that was fun 😍

A big chunk of the book was about anxiety and some grief and holding onto things that can weigh you down. I enjoyed reading about Kitty and Miles navigating and helping each other overcome those fears and emotions.

I loved the stance on social media in this one too. All the hate and the cancel culture that follows one mistake on the internet (even when the mistake might be made up 🙄🙄) is so ridiculous, and very very relevant, these days!!

Overall a cute and fun romcom and it’s out today!!

This was so cute and sweet. It was a refreshing read. While the main characters are facing real life problems that aren’t easy on anyone, Hunting still managed to make it a feel-good book. I enjoyed it.

Thank you to Helena Hunting, Forever publishing, and NetGalley for a digital copy of A Love Catastrophe.

I unfortunately did not love this book as much as I thought I would. The cat puns got to be a little too much for me, and I the characters were a little too quirky/awkward for my liking.

A Love Catastrophe was quirky, kitschy, and full of cat puns — I adored it! I liked both Kitty and Miles as characters, and I found their personal growth and romance heartwarming. At the same time, the book touched on more series topics, such as grief, death, and dementia which balanced out the story as a whole. The ending gave me all the warm fuzzies, but of course, Prince Francis the Sphynx cat was my favorite part! Additionally, while I thought a lot of the story was laugh out loud funny, some of the dialogue and the love scenes were a bit too cringey for me. Overall, if you need more romance and cats in your life, A Love Catastrophe is the book for you!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 stars)

DNF 35 pages in. So many Harry Potter references for a new book when JK Rowling is a terf and shouldn’t be support. I also didn’t vibe with the MMC being so rude to cats constantly.

This was a cute romcom. I’m a sucker for puns and loved all the cat puns/jokes that were happening. I also loved that the main source of conflict in their relationship was not your standard miscommunication trope. So fun!

Adorable. I loved this book. Kitty the Kitty Whisperer was hilarious in and of itself. Then add her klutzy nature and all the loveable creatures, and she is a wonderful main character. I loved her and Miles and how their relationship developed. Miles is a nerdy hot guy, and I love that he and Kitty cannot stop sticking their feet in the mouths and being ridiculous. Also, the theme of grief and how they learn to live with it was heartwarming. Now I want to know more about these hockey players and some more love stories with them, including Kitty’s sister!

If you're looking for a fun, cute rom com this one's for you. Both Miles and Kitty are awkward and adorable and they have so much in common. There were emotional parts but mostly I enjoyed all the laugh out loud moments. I thought the lack of a dramatic eye rolling moment, usually towards the end of romance books, was refreshing!

Helena Hunting writes spicy, fun, angsty, hilarious books, and A LOVE CATASTROPHE is all those things, with an emphasis on fun. This is an utterly silly story in the best way. Kitty Hart and Miles Thorn are utterly delightful as a couple who hates each other yet wants each other, yet hates that they want each other, yet hates that they can't have each other. The two meet thanks to a hairless cat and destiny determines they are meant to be. Their flirting is fun, their jokes are fun, their barely suppressed attraction is fun, and their sexy times are hot.

The thing about a Helena Hunting book is that even the silliest story becomes poignant in her hands. You will find times that are emotionally raw, and those times elevate the book from slapstick to true romantic comedy.

I may not be a fan of cats, and I may not be a fan of hairless cats in particular, but I am a huge fan of Helena Hunting. She's the type of writer who makes me kind of like a hairless cat.

This is such an entertaining book. Kitty Hart loves all animals but most especially cats. She calls herself the Kitty Whisperer and owns a cat sitting and training business. She gets a client named Miles who wants her to take care of his mom’s cat while she’s in the hospital.

Miles Thorn works for an ice hockey team analyzing the players and working with the players so they can improve their game. He’s a ndog guy and his mom’s cat, a hairless Sphinx, doesn’t like him at all.

Kitty and Miles hit it off just as his mom goes in to assisted living. Kitty helps him with his guilt and helps herself by coming to terms with her father’s death.

This is a fun read, especially if you love cats! 4 stars
