This was delightful! Funny and sexy. Also lots of cathartic sorrow. Seriously, have some tissues near. Kitty and Miles are adorable. I love how well their pasts and present fit together. There is a third act problem to solve but it’s not about their relationship which is a relief. Recommend for romance and animal lovers. Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC

It absolutely pains me to say that this book just wasn’t for me. Hunting is an all time fave author of mine, but unfortunately this book was a bit of a catastrophe for me. I tried my hardest, but by about 25% I decided to DNF. A bit too punny, mixed with the heavy stuff. You know I’ll be back for more HH in the future!

First and foremost anyone reading this needs to know that I love Helena Hunting - she is one of my favorite authors and this book is very much on brand for her! It's the definition of a quirky, slightly ridiculous romcom that is also incredibly heartwarming. This book is FILLED with all things cats - the main character, Kitty, runs a cat-sitting business, drives a cat-themed car, and makes cat jokes all day long. The star of the show is a cat we meet early on - Prince Francis, a sphynx cat with attitude. And then we have grumpy Miles to Kitty's sunshine counterpart. I loved both of them so much and was rooting for them early on. This book will make you smile and has next to no angst, which was incredibly welcome in my recent reads! I definitely recommend this book, but I do know it's not for everyone.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy. All opinions are my own.

Rating: 3.5 ⭐️

A Love Catastrophe was a fairly enjoyable read. While, there were some amusing and entertaining aspects I was just expecting a little bit more from the romance and story.

It’s dual POVs of the main characters, Kitty Hart and Miles Thorn, and there are some great tropes like opposites attract, close proximity and a friends to lovers romance.

The overall premise was a bit more heavier than I was expecting, as it dealt with caring for a parent with early onset Alzheimer’s and moving on from the death of a loved one. While the story does have a lot of comedic and laugh out loud moments, there were quite a few somber moments and conversations. The overall writing and story development was pretty good though. The story also revolves around cats and caring for one, which I absolutely loved. So if you are a cat lover, this book is perfect for you.

The main characters were interesting. They each had their moments and journeys of growth however, their character development felt a bit rushed. There were also a few aspects that felt quite underdeveloped, like Miles’ relationship with his mother.

The relationship between Kitty and Miles was cute but I personally never felt that spark between them. While, there was an insta-attraction/lust between them, their romance felt a bit forced. They did have some good banter and spice though.

There was no third act conflict, which I appreciated but the ending did feel a bit rushed. The epilogue was really sweet though. Overall, just a decent and quick read.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A bit of a different one, But a rom com is usually a safe vet for me. Awkward moments, which me being me, I always appreciate these. Real feelings.

I decided to DNF at 10%. If you are not a cat person, then I would not recommend reading this. Right away the FMC is a bit cringe with the way she talks. When these two finally get together and some of the stuff Miles said right away gave me the ick. Not enjoying the main characters is a deal breaker for me, I may try to give this another shot eventually. But I unfortunately just couldn’t get into this one nor did I like the main characters.

I received this ARC thanks to Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I really love books that involve animals. I really enjoyed the first half of A Love Catastrophe, but around page 152, the book started to lag. I finished it and enjoyed the rest of the book. It was just a little dull.
I did appreciate the warnings at the beginning of the book, I found the book to be fairly sweet and entertaining, but my parents or another loved one had dementia I would likely not enjoy it as much

I wanted to love A Love Catastrophe so much more than I did. It's an easy read, the characters are simple people just trying to live their lives... but somehow, I just never connect when characters are social media influencers?

Kitty's cat-loving social media sphere is probably one of the better ones that I've read about - who doesn't love serotonin-inducing clips of fuzzy cats and their toe beans? The premise of the story is just kind of a regular everyday story though.. just a normal world occurrence.. two people meet... an outside misunderstanding occurs that really doesn't affect the couple's relationship at all and they grow and move into a happy-ever-after ending.

When I'm reading romances.. I typically want more on the line and more that couples really half to work through to make the stories memorable!

I had the opportunity to read this book in exchange for a review,. The story revolves around Kitty, who runs a popular cat sitting service in the Greater Toronto Area. Miles’ mother gets lost and ends up in the hospital. With Miles unable to watch his mom's temperamental cat due to work commitments, he hires Kitty, He and Kitty and have nothing in common even down to the basic love of pets, it’s cats vs. dogs.

What I particularly enjoyed about this book was its setting near my own hometown. Being familiar with Toronto, it added an extra layer of enjoyment as I followed Kitty's adventures. Having previously owned and operated a cat sitting business for a decade, it was interesting to see someone else's perspective on the subject.

The book is a light and enjoyable read. It offers a mix of humor, heartwarming moments making it an entertaining experience. There were times in the book where the writing was a bit cringe worthy where I felt that things could have been rewritten in a more compelling way.

In conclusion, I recommend this book for its entertainment value. It's a cute and easy read, which is perfect for the summer.

Thank you to Netgalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), Forever for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

This book pulled me in from the first page and had me not wanting to put it down. What can I say? Romantic comedy with laugh-out-loud moments, spicy moments, cute fur babies, and adorably quirky main characters that gives you all the feels and pulls at your heartstrings. What more could I ask for?

Kitty ‘the Kitty Whisperer" Hart is famous on the internet for being an expert when it comes to felines and making a booming business out of white cat-sitting. Miles Thorn is a grumpy hockey nerd who requires Kitty’s cat-sitting service for the mischievous and sassy sphinx named Prince Francis that was left in his care by his mother. Cue one heck of a bad first impression as Kitty falls face-first into her new client, and Miles gets a strike as well since he doesn’t like cats.

After reading this novel and being taken from heartfelt moments to laugh-out-loud moments through Kitty and Miles dual POVs throughout their story, I can’t wait to read more by Helena Hunting in the future, especially if she decides to make a story for Kitty’s sister Hattie.

Helena Huntings is one of my favorite authors but I struggled with this book. Sometimes sweet and often screwball, the book contained too many heavy topics overlaid with outrageous situations for me to connect. I’m sure others will love the antics, the critters and the romance, but this one wasn’t for me at this time.

Yikes. This was just too goofy. Filled with cat puns and discussions of litter boxes, "A Love Catastrophe" is more about cat lovers than any human romance. The first 25% of the book is just cats!

The middle of the book gave me whiplash between the continued cringy cat puns and serious discussions of family deaths. And then the last 25% switched to being all about social media and celebrity encounters? Super dull and didn't add anything to the story.

Helena Hunting's rom-coms always make me happy and this one was no different. I'll admit I'm not crazy about cats (I love dogs and am allergic to cats like Miles), but this was cute and a lot of fun to read. Miles and Kitty had great chemistry and I loved seeing them progress from their first disastrous first meeting to friends to lovers.

The Love Catastrophe is a really fun story about love, loss and cats.
It’s been some time since I'd read one of Helena Hunting’s books and it was very nice to dive into her books again. I am a dog person, but I also like cats and I thought Kitty was so cool and her job so interesting. I liked her and her quirkiness immediately; I liked Miles too, he was dreamy! I liked that they both had good jobs and were in good moments in their lives but also how they found each other at the right moment. I also enjoyed the secondary characters like Prince Francis and Hattie.
Another thing I believe is important to highlight is how the story can be fun and even steamy at times, but how it also deals with important subjects such as loss, grief, fear and mental illnesses. It was a perfect combination.
The book is a real page-turner and it was totally gripping. Overall, I deeply enjoyed it and it certainly made me want to read more of the author’s books.

I loved this book!! Having lost a parent myself and having seen one of the people love most succumb to dementia this book hit a lot of hard to digest topics for me but in a way that helped me work through along with Kitty and Miles. As a cat lover and dog lover I was rooting for Wilfred and Prince Francis to get along and I'm so thrilled with just every part of this story i love a good HEA that's realistic!

A great read, the story of Kitty and Miles, who meet when he hires her to help take care of his mother's cat. Deals with some emotional issues. I loved both main characters and wanted everything to work out for them.

It's been a while since I've read a Helena Hunting book and I was excited for another. I'm not going to lie though because I'm not a cat person... so the excessive cat puns and cat-related sayings were a bit much for me. Still going to read all of Ms. Hunting's hockey romances though! Onto the next one.

I wanted to love A Love Catastrophe but there were too many ick moments for me so it just added up to being an okay read. There were too many cat (or animal) puns and just cringe moments. I think the second hand embarrassment moments for the FMC were just too much for me as well. At the same time as all of these "cute" moments, the book also attempted to deal with serious life challenges such as death and dementia. It was just too much.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.

A Love Catastrophe is about a cat sitter named Kitty and her newest client, Miles. Helena Hunting’s stories are always unique and quirky. I fully know to go into her stories expecting interesting plot lines and characters. This book is a perfect example of her peak quirky personality and the stories that come from it.

Kitty is hired to take care of Miles’ mom’s cat and they don’t get off to the best start. Things do progress and they slowly start to become friends during hardships in their lives. I though their relationship development was sweet and heartwarming that they had each other.

This story did not become my newest favorite of Helena’s for a couple reasons. Maybe it’s because I’m not the biggest fans of cats (I know, sorry) but the cat centered focus did become a little much for me. The romance itself also just felt slow, mellow and not very much happened. I like when there’s no third act breakup, but I do typically like some more excitement in a relationship to occur in romance books. Their relationship is very sweet and cute, but I was just hoping for more.
