It's a cute story with two awkward characters that start off on the wrong foot. I liked that they are both kind of nerdy in their own way. It was also pretty emotional with regards to Miles' mother who has dementia. And to be honest, I probably enjoyed the relationship between her and Miles the most. Definitely hit me in the feels. It was enjoyable but probably not real memorable.

I'm not fond of cats and I'm not a hockey fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed this mildly spicy book about two people who find they are perfect for each other. Kitty (who owns a cat sitting/training business) and dog owner Miles (who works for a hockey team) encounter each other as Miles deals with his mother's dementia and her "demon" cat and Kitty tries to assist him through this traumatic time, while dealing with her own trauma and concerns. The book deals with family issues of loss, grief, aging in an honest, humorous and heartfelt journey as Miles learns to appreciate his mother, her cat AND Kitty. Kitty begins to believe in herself and her future to expand to love others again, despite her fear of loss. This is the first book I've read by this author, but I look forward to reading more!

As cheesey as this book was, I enjoyed most of it. It’s hard to take a book too seriously when the female MC’s name is Kitty and she owns cat sitting/training business named The Kitty Whisperer. The character names were too on the nose (Kat’s Cat Cafe) and Kitty’s cat apparel along with her name and car made her sound like a caricature.

But Kitty and Miles are sweet together, had some adorkable banter, and I laughed out loud a few times. I’d recommend this as a library read when you’re in the mood for cheesy and a quick read, but be mindful that grief of losing a close family member is a a major theme.

This opposites-attract romance was cute, funny, and full of cat puns, that even a dog lover could enjoy.

Kitty is known on social media as the cat whisperer, she’s made her love of cats her career. Miles needs help caring for his mom’s cat while she’s in the hospital and hires Kitty.  From the moment this cat-obsessed FMC meets this dog-loving MMC the laugh-out-loud hilarious disasters hit.  I laughed so much.

Kitty is quirky, awkward, and tends to babble.  Miles is a sexy hockey nerd.  Their chemistry leads to a perfectly paced slow burn.  Under the humor and corniness was a story about two people overcoming survivor's guilt and finding support within each other and their adorably precious furry (and not-furry) pets.

This isn't a hockey romance, but as a fan of the subgenre I loved the dose we were given.  Helena Hunting was one of the first authors who introduced me to the world of hockey romance.  I think I need more and Parker needs his own story.

I really liked the concept of this book! I’m a huge animal lover (more so dogs than cats) and can completely relate with Kitty and Miles! It was cute and fairly predictable, some things caught me off guard, but it was destined for an HEA. I loved all the humor thrown in that literally had me laughing out loud at parts! If you like romance with cats, dogs, and slightly awkward people, this is the book for you!

The Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting is a cute adorable romcom. First, this author can write no wrong and I will read everything from her! This is not your typical Helena Hunting book so go into it with an open mind. I loved the social media stuff in the book because it all felt realistic. The chemistry between the characters is undeniable and the steam is always nice. I will always recommend this author and can't wait to read her future books!

I want to start by saying you have to be a cat lover to really enjoy this book. Unfortunately, I am not a cat person which plays a big role in how I feel about this book. Second, there are a lot of things happening within this book.

A LOVE CATASTROPHE by Helena Hunting fell flat for me. Although it's contemporary, so much of the story felt unrealistic (some of the overly awkward interactions and events), and much of the dialogue between Kitty and Miles felt too cheesy (like, yes, I get that you're falling in love, but all of this is coming across as too twitterpated). It just wasn't for me. That being said, I do think pet lovers--especially cat lovers--will enjoy this read.

Miles needs to find a cat sitter for his mother's evil sphinx cat after he finds out her health is worse than he realized. As a statistician for the NHL, he spends too much time on the road to be able to take care of his dog and his mom's sadistic cat. A quick google search leads him to "The Kitty Whisperer" which seems too cheesy to be real, but after meeting the famous Kitty Hart he discovers that not only is she very real but also very hot. Despite putting his foot in his mouth several times, Kitty is kind and compassionate and just what he needs.

I thought this was going to be an adorable rom com and while it was definitely funny at times this book touched on some seriously deep topics including death of a loved one and how to deal with grief and healing even years later. I definitely feel like Kitty and Miles were meant to be. Kitty's empathy was exactly what Miles needed to get through this difficult time and Kitty was able to see that it was time for her family to move past their own tragedy.

This book was more than I was expecting going into it, but I really enjoyed the journey Kitty and Miles took us on and as someone also still dealing with grief I related deeply to these characters and their struggles. I would recommend checking this one out especially if you are in the same boat.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
This one was a disappointment for me. I can get with a cutesy type book on occasion but this one was just too much for me. All the cats and the social media influencing was just not relatable at all. It just felt too normal but also too odd at the same time. I wish there was more, everything just felt kind of bland to me. Between the cat puns and the immature ways of describing things, I just couldn’t get on board.

This book was honestly fine. I liked it enough to keep reading it but it was exactly the most exciting thing to read. I felt like I was sure if the book wanted to be more emotional in that both of the main characters are dealing with pretty traumatic things in regard to their families. (spoiler alert) WIth the FMC dealing with having been the one to have found her father when he died and the MMC's mother dealing with dementia at a young age plus the death of a younger brother. But all of this trauma was just kind of brushed over and both characters are able to get over the issues holding them back fairly quickly and without much actual work from what is seen on the page. Which seems to be the overarching theme in the book that every issue that the couple runs into or the individual main characters runs into is quickly figured out. While I did somewhat enjoy this, it is not something that I would turn to again or really recommend to a friend. Which was a disappointment because I really like some of Helena Hunting's other books.

Ty @netgalley and @grandcentralpublishing for gifting me this beautiful book in exchange for an honest review.

If you are looking for a light summer read and if you are a cat lover (like me) then you must read this book. If you are a dog lover, you should still read this book as Wilfred is so loveable and has a cat at his best friend in the book and the duo make a great team.

This was a funny and crazy story about a cat lover who made a career of loving and training and taking care of cats which made me LOVE the main character of to storyline do very much !!! All the characters in the book especially Miles and Prince Francis seems very realistic and I felt like they were real.

This books tells a beautiful storyline of love and moving forward after the loss of someone you love as well as awareness of dementia and the affects it has on a person and a family. Support and love is what makes it possible to move forward.

Dog lovers and Cat lovers may seem things very differently but the one thing they have in common is there love for there pet which to many of us are our family.

Great read - didn't entirely love the ending as it was a little blah, which is why this isn't a 5.0 read.

Overall rate a 4.o

Side note - I loved the cover of this book as well as the title "CAT" astrohpy :) I honestly didnt realize the pun until I started reading it.

This book is classic Helena Hunting. It was so funny which I really appreciate in contemporary romance because sometimes it is too much like real life to give me the escapism that I am looking for in reading. Her humor just kills me. It was really poignant too. The loss that Kitty and Miles have both experienced in their lives and the way they have handled it is very realistic and made their characters so much more believable. And their ability to understand each other and connect because of those losses gave their love story something extra. The romance was more sweet instead of spicy which is fine because kink, etc wouldn't really fit the characters or the book.

The social media stuff was also very believable and sad because this is our world now and lives can get ruined by the thoughtless actions of others.

All in all, a really good story. No notes!

Happy Monday y'all! This weekend, I was finally able to finish A Love Catastrophe, and I have so many thoughts. Thank you so much to Forever and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of it!

A Love Catastrophe 3.5/5 Stars

Summary from Goodreads:

The fur is about to fly between a cheerful cat sitter and a grumpy hockey nerd in this hilarious and charming rom-com  by the New York Times bestselling author of Meet Cute .

Kitty Hart has become internet famous as the Kitty Whisperer for her expertise on all things feline, and as a result, her cat-sitting business is booming. But lately, she has a terrible feeling that maybe her life isn’t  quite  going where it’s supposed to—especially after falling face-first into her newest client.  Not exactly the best first impression .

Fortunately, Miles Thorn is just as bad at first impressions. Strike he doesn’t like cats, especially Prince Francis, the haughty and mischievous Sphynx his mom left in his care. Strike tackling Kitty to the floor in a misguided attempt to save the pet he continually calls “the gremlin.”

As awkwardness slides into attraction and things start to turn purr-sonal, will these two complete opposites ever be able to find their furry-tail ending?

I'm going to start out this review by saying that I am not a cat person- I'm super allergic and while I can appreciate a cute cat photo, I just don't like them all that much. Going into this book, I knew it was going to be heavily cat driven, but I didn't realize just how much cat stuff we would be getting. Like if we just talked about the cats Kitty was watching/helping to take care of, that would have been enough for me, but her saying things like "Oh my catness" was just a little too much for me. In terms of the romance and Miles and Kitty together, they were cute enough, but what I liked more than the romance in this book was how they talked about grief and blaming themselves for someone in their lives dying (Kitty and her dad and Miles and his brother). I also really liked how they talked about what it's like when someone in your life has quick progressing dementia and how hard that can be on everyone. My grandmother had dementia, so it definitely hit home. Overall, while A Love Catastrophe wasn't always my favorite, there were so many parts that I did enjoy, so I would recommend it to y'all for sure!

I am a huge Helena Hunting fan and this book did not disappoint. Kitty and Miles are seemingly opposites but there is something bubbling below the surface from the moment they meet. I loved how both characters were quirky in their own way and found them both endearing. This is a classic Helena Hunting rom-com filled with awkward moments and belly laughs all while handling real issues.

4⭐️, 2🌶️ - This was an incredibly cute and quirky contemporary romance by @heleanhunting.Kitty is a cat lover and just wants to help care for others cats. When Miles mom is in the hospital for a possible dementia diagnosis, he hires Kitty to take care of his moms cat, Prince Francis. The two grow close, sharing their histories and grief, and grow close together! There’s are so many puns and pure animal chaos that I smiled through the whole book! It gets a tad spicy at times, but nothing raunchy I’d say.

What an utter delight, and there was hockey!! Helena has created a fun, bittersweet, humorous, but engaging love story between two people who thought they were opposites but, in reality, are not. Kitty loves cats, she's gained quite the following at the Cat Whisperer, and she is not a fan of dogs. Miles is not a cat person, but his mother is in the hospital, and someone has to take care of Sir Francis, the spoiled sphynx cat. What can possibly go wrong? Everything! What starts as a comedy of errors and misunderstandings leads these two people to step outside their comfort zones. They find that they really like each other; from there, it is the sweetest love story! What touched me the most about this book is the support they give each other while dealing with crises. Each of them, at several points in the book, has to handle personal or professional crises. The way they were there for each other made these characters stand out in my mind (and heart). The true test of a book for me is what impression did it leave? Am I still thinking about it several days later? For A Love Catastrophe, I can answer a definite yes.

Yikes, this book didn’t work for me. There were some laugh out loud moments but it was too cringe worthy and cheesy to the point it was painful to read at some points. I am definitely a fan of Helena Hunting, but this particular book was just not my jam.

I've been a Helena Hunting fan since I'd read her Pucked series and adore her brand of romance: funny dialogue, zany antics, and spicy scenes. A Love Catastrophe had all that plus a punny title!

I love an opposites attract couple and it was fun to have their occupations be pretty different - Kitty (a cat sitter and a big ball of fluffy feelings) and Miles (hockey data analyst and pragmatic to a fault). However, despite their surface differences, it's clear from the start how the two would be a perfect match and balance each other out, particularly as they help each other sort out their problems.

My favorite scenes were the ones where one takes care of the other and there were lots of them. It's not quite the hurt/comfort trope but seeing them support each other through family challenges were really sweet. Another good read for anyone whose love language is Acts of Service.

This was a low-angst book and I would almost consider it a cozy romance if not for the spice (like a jalapeño mac and cheese - comfort food with a kick).

This is a perfect read especially when life can feel overwhelming and I'm so glad I read it when I was feeling overscheduled and overloaded with commitments. It was just nice to sit down a fall into this book. I love when two well-adjusted people find each other and have an HEA. 4⭐️
