This book was great, I had so much reading it. I really liked that this awful time Miles is going through with his mom brought him and Kitty together, they slowly got to know each other and fell in love in the process. They healed together which to me is one of the best outcomes of a love story such as this one. The cats are the adorable bonus in this, in my opinion!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I really liked the chemistry between Miles and Kitty. There are some hilarious and awkward moments between the two of them. I also loved how they would be there for each other when dealing with tough circumstances. I was happy to discover that this was an open door romance. I loved those steamy scenes! I even cracked up at a few scenes where Miles’s dog and mother’s cat cockblock them! I am not too keen on Kitty’s character. I found her a little too quirky. I am not the biggest fan of cats and maybe that’s why I wasn’t a big fan of this book. I think the biggest issue for me was the sometimes use of cat words in modern vocabulary. I also wish that we got a little more relationship connection between Miles and Kitty. I felt like all they had and talked about was their jobs and the loss of a loved one. I was not expecting this book to have such deep losses and struggles. Miles’s mom has dementia and both Miles and Kitty lost a loved one that they would talk about throughout the book. That being said, this book still has a happy vibe to it and I did like all the pet stuff sprinkled throughout the romance!

Love Catastrophe was a cute, quirky romance between a cat trainer/sitter and a data analyst for the NHL. Both main characters were awkwardly sweet and dealing with losses. While there wasn’t much tension or angst relationship wise, the support they gave each other through their family dynamics was an endearing and strong element driving the story for me. Heartfelt, quirky and quick read.

Helena Hunting’s A Love Catastrophe is a very light-hearted romantic comedy that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. Hunting’s signature wit and humor shine through in this easy-reading, enemies-to-lovers tale of unexpected encounters and quirky mishaps. Prepare to be entertained by the lovable characters, uproarious situations, and the infectious sweetness of this feel-good romantic romp.
Cat sitter, Kitty Hart, is the eccentric, sweet, animal-whisperer hired by the broody, moody, dog-loving data analyst, Miles Thorn. He needs someone to watch over his mother’s trouble-making cat while she’s in hospital. Their snappy banter and opposites-attract chemistry fuel the build-up of this enemies-to-lovers romance.
Hunting’s comedic prowess, endearing characters and witty dialogue made for an amusing read that charmed me with the humorous and heartfelt romance of Kitty Hart and Miles Thorn. Four smooches from me for A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting!

I enjoy Helena’s books and some of her characters and the writing can be a bit over the top. I did enjoy Kitty and Miles, but not as much as other books I have read from this author. It is a fun easy read very low drama and a HEA. Lots of cat puns so be ready for that. I did enjoy it overall.

I LOVED this book. A cute rom com that goes deeper and examines issues surrounding grief, trauma, and self confidence all with a huge helping of humor. Kitty and Miles should be named couple of the year IMHO. The writing was superb and I think I read the entire book in 2 sittings because it was so enjoyable. My favorite of the author’s many works.

dnf I can't take any more of this book. I have been trying to read it for a week and each time I open it I dread continuing it. Somehow I have been reading it forever and am only 30% in. I'm done. I can't take any more of the cat puns, the whiplash between cutsy an trauma, bizarre cat vs dog drama, and frankly boring characters. I've enjoyed other books from Helena, but this one is not working for me.

I know I shouldn’t have requested a Helena Hunting book but I loved the cover and the premise was just ridiculous enough that I thought I’d have a good time. Alas a Harry Potter reference smacks us in the face in the second chapter and I really need authors to stop providing space for that transphobe in their books. Find more relevant (and inoffensive) pop culture references please.

“Awkwardness slides into attraction” say no more I was in!
This was such a fun and fresh take on a rom com with a crazy Cat lady. Loved our main characters and our side piece, the cats.

Kitty Hart is known as The Kitty Whisperer because of her knowledge of felines. She is a modern day cat sitter who even teaches her clients all types of tricks. Life throws her a curve ball with her newest client though and she isn't sure what to make of it. Miles needs someone to watch his mothers cat while he deals with her health issues. Not being much of a cat person he hires Kitty and leaves her with a horrible fist impression of himself. The two awkwardly do a dance every time they have to get together and for me laughter ensued. Follow along on their journey to find out if the awkwardness will remain or of the two will become comfortable enough with one another to let love in. This was a humorous and witty read the whole way through, I fell in love with the characters.

This book was such a fun read and I really enjoy a good romcom. Grumpy vs sunshine, opposites attract do make a book better to me! Helena Hunting really wrote a great book and I need to read more books from her!

One Liner: Okayish
Kitty Hart loves all things cat and works as a kitty whisperer, training unruly cats and caring for them. She is determined to prove that cats can be trained.
Miles Thorn is a dog person and pretty much hates cats. However, he has to take care of his mother’s cat when she’s at the hospital. His new job is just as stressful. Not knowing what to do, Miles hires Kitty to care for Prince Francis (the cat).
Kitty and Miles start on the wrong foot but soon realize they have a lot in common. However, they need to deal with a few issues before claiming the HEA.
The story comes from the first-person POV of Miles and Katty.
My Thoughts:
I like cats and lighthearted reads, so this book seemed a great choice. Also, it’s not common to have the MC take care of cats as a profession.
While I love cats and humor, I also prefer things to not go overboard. Kitty Hart is a cat whisperer. Yep, good. She wears leopard and cheetah prints. Well, fine. She uses weird language and terms. Erm… maybe not. The cat puns get a bit too much. I mean, she can speak normal language even though she loves cats.
Despite the weird stuff, the book deals with important topics like losing a parent/ sibling, dementia, living in the past, etc. Some of it is well done. These discussions are the best parts of the book.
I like awkward characters. They make stories more endearing. However, the MCs don’t really make things cute here. Some of it is, but most of it is not. But yeah, I do like that both have eyeglasses.
Guess my issue is more with the FMC. She calls herself socially inept. Sure, she is missing a few filters, but that seems to be the case only with the MMC. Her interactions with others are quite decent, so her saying silly things felt more artificial/ forced than an integral part of her characterization.
She is also a social media influencer, and this didn’t seem like a major deal. I was glad that we don’t all get influencer thingy. Then, for the conflict in the last section, we have exclusively social media stuff and the toxicity that comes with it. If this was the plan, I’d have preferred more references to the FMC actively posting on SM instead of others commenting about it.
The book starts with Miles’ first-person POV. I admit it took me time to get used to his voice. Though I knew it was the POV of a male, I kept imagining the voice as that of a female. The tone just didn’t sound like a man. Throughout the book, I kept checking the chapter heads to make sure whose POV I was reading.
Of course, I’m relieved there are no third-act breakups, misunderstandings, and dramatic reunions. There’s an epilogue too, which ties up the loose ends.
To summarize, A Love Catastrophe is a lighthearted romcom that deals with some serious topics. Check it out if you are willing to ignore the cat puns and some strange language. I heard good things about the author’s works (this is my first), so maybe this is an odd one out.
Thank you, NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing/Forever, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

Cat, dog and hockey lovers you are in for a treat with this book.
A Love Catastrophe is about a cat sitter and a dog lover trying to find a common ground after a ‘disastrous’ first encounter.
Humorous as the book goes along because the FMC, ironically named Kitty, is unfiltered as they come. She blurts it before her brain can process it. She is loving and sacrificing and in my opinion is an old soul trapped in a 21st Century body.
Authors have the freedom to totally create the characters they want. After all, books are a form of escapism. The author can be forgiven for making an early 1900 Kitty in the 21st Century.
I love that this book handled social media blacklash. The blacklash faced by Kitty goes to show that people should know that there are humans behind influencer accounts and how we should not jump on the bandwagon of half-truth.
I love how Kitty and Miles eased from a professional relationship to a personal one. I didn’t even realize they were in a relationship as there was no drama to it.
I love how both Kitty and Miles were able to move on from their childhood trauma together and forgiving themselves as they were not to blame.
The star of the book has to be Prince Francis. He is a regal as they come.
This took more than a minute and a half to finish. Simply because it started right, fell flat at some point and then picked up again.

The funniest thing I’ve read in a long time. Kitty operates her own business as a cat whisperer, training and caring for cats. Her services are needed for Miles’ mother, she can’t bring her cat to the hospital and Miles lives too far for everyday visits. It’s pretty obvious there will be humor involved if you have pets, but it’s Kitty’s lack of filter that’s refreshing and comical. They bond over serious topics, and take the usual path all leading couples take. Most romance books are predictable, this one too, however it’s the animals and other characters that bring the entertainment and realistic side to their story. I was able to enjoy an early copy and leave my honest review.

Thank you to netgalley for my advanced readers copy of this book!
I really enjoyed this quick read that so obviously displays Helena’s love of kitties (and romance stories, obviously!). Miles and Kitty were great and I was thoroughly entertained by the dynamic between the two of them and all the animals they care for. This was a lot of fun!!
I can’t wait to see what Helena writes next! Another great rom-com (?) down!

This was a fun cat pun filled rom com. It was my not my favorite by Hunting, but it was still enjoyable. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narration by Erin Mallon and Joe Arden. Kitty often got herself into some ridiculous situations that were often entertaining. I enjoyed the enemies to lovers vibe that Miles and Kitty had although it transitioned pretty quickly to more than that. I also enjoyed learning about Miles’ job and how it supported the team. Overall it was a fun read and I look forward to what Hunting published next!

This book was cute. Not one of those OMG I can't stop reading rom-coms, but it was fun. I enjoyed the characters, their relationship, their stories and challenges. The animals throughout the book only added to the fun. It was just a happy story, even though there were sad and difficult parts. It was hard to not smile while reading it. A great feel good book - perfect for a beach or pool read!

Miles Thorn has been taking care of his mother's beloved cat, Prince Francis, while she's in the hospital, but now that he's been asked to accompany the NHL team for which he works on an upcoming road trip, he's going to need some help. When he finds an online ad for the Kitty Whisperer, a cat sitting service owned by Kitty Hart, it seems like the answer to his prayers. Surprising them both, their awkward first meeting leads to a genuine friendship with the possibility of more, but they'll have to vanquish the ghosts of their pasts before they can build a lasting love.
I loved how adorably awkward Kitty and Miles sometimes were, as well as how strongly they supported each other no matter the challenges they faced. Even though they were opposites in a lot of ways, their personalities complemented each other perfectly, and they'd also had similar experiences in the past that allowed them to empathize with what the other had been through. They made a super cute couple and I was rooting from them from the start.
I'd recommend this charming story for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans and look forward to whatever Hunting writes next.

A Love Catastrophe was a fine read. There was a uniqueness to the story that I appreciated. Miles and Kitty were so cute and quirky and I loved that. They were more alike than they each thought so seeing these two get to know each other better and truly spent time together was wonderful. I enjoyed the pace of their romance, the foundation of a friendship leading to more. There was also more to these two with sadness that they both have experienced. They were able to form a bond with that connection and rely on each other. It seemed that Miles and Kitty were what the other needed. Miles and Kitty were a charming duo. I did enjoy the supporting characters-they were pleasant. A fair mix of funny and serious. Overall, this was a just a nice story.
