I am a huge cat person, and have way too many. So when I saw the blurb for this one I instantly requested it. But I think even for me it was a bit too much. The characters were lovable, but it just felt too cheesy and quirky to get much from it. It is a great light beach read though!

A Love Catastrophe is a cozy, funny, and cat-filled romance that will win over cat lovers. Kitty, a cat sitter, reluctantly teams up with Miles to care for his mother's sick cat. Despite their initial dislike, their chemistry is undeniable. It's a heartwarming story with endearing quirks and set in Toronto. While not the spiciest, it still delivers a touch of romance. Get ready to swoon over Miles and enjoy the adorable animal love. It's a must-read for a delightful escape!

A Love Catastrophe was cute, cute, cute. Kitty and Miles were purr-fectly charming in this opposites attract rom-com that also had doses of real life sprinkled throughout. This romance from Helena Hunting contains a bit of spice, a lot of swoon, and cats galore! I found this to be the perfect summer weekend read and recommend it to fans of romantic comedies, opposites attract tales, and - of course - cats!
I received an advanced reading copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

I tried my hardest to read this book all the way through. Unfortunately, I found the theme of cats and constant phrases referencing cats to be distracting from the story itself.

A Love Catastrophe is an easy, funny read with adorably awkward, lovable characters. Enemies to friends, cat vs dog lover, hilarious banter. A good read!

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting, is the story of Kitty Hart, this animal-loving girl earns her living taking care of and training cats, her company name is Kitty Whisperer, which always creates a little of confusion and even a few practical jokes, but her business is legitimate and she helps many furry friends and their owners, her posts on her profile have created a good community of followers that support her and a group of sponsors that have given her a good base of growth her business, one day Miles Thorn contacts her, interested in hiring her services to take care of her mother's cat, Prince Francis, when Kitty goes to the appointment she is pleasantly surprised to learn that Prince Francis is a Sphinx cat but with Miles it’s another story, he refers to the cat as the gremlin and other derogatory names which makes him, in Kitty's eyes, a top-notch jerk who only loves dogs. Miles works as a data analyst for the NHL hockey team and is going through a difficult time when his mother's health begins to deteriorate and he must make decisions since this new job opportunity is his dream job and he must demonstrate that he is exactly what the team needed, without neglecting to do everything in his power to help his mother and take care of her things, starting with her childhood home and the cat, so he contacts the cat whisperer to help him, but that first meeting goes all wrong, he can't seem to stop making mistakes with the comments and at one point he even tackles her and throws her to the ground, for which he ends up mortified and although she finally agrees to help him with Prince Francis, he is going to take distance but will try to show her that he is not as big jerk as she thinks.
With Kitty taking care of Prince Francis, she also begins to have more contact with Miles, and when she learns a little more about the situation of Miles's mother and his past, she cannot help but change the bad impression she had of him, and also identifies with him. They both carry wounds from the past and many things that they would have wanted to do differently, which is why they find a kindred spirit in each other and makes them feel close, this along with the chemistry and attraction, of which they have been victims from the first moment, despite the foots in the mouth moments, makes them perfect for each other.
This story, how couldn’t be otherwise coming from the hand of Helena Hunting, is full of funny moments, I was laughing out loud from the first chapters, crazy situations, but also sweet ones, with moments of sadness and tears, the scenes of Miles with her mother, her with Kitty when she tells her story and when they visit her with Prince Francis in the retirement home, and Kitty with her mother when they talk about the death of her father, God my heart!!! But of course also a story full of love from the human between the protagonists, and with they’re friends and families, to that unconditional love for our four-legged companion, be they cats or dogs. If you have the opportunity, go read this story that I am sure you will enjoy, I will say that in this romcom genre this story became my number one so far this year, I love fresh stories with characters that you can identify and with whom you live each chapter of their story, for me a super mega excellent story that I highly recommend. Go read it now!

In true Helena Hunting fashion, I was cracking up from the beginning. A Love Catastrophe started off strong, I loved Kitty’s optimistically naive personality and when Miles first looked her up on line with Josh was hilarious! A part of me was secretly hoping for a cameo from one of the Pucked or All In characters since Miles works in the NHL but no such luck. I am so not a cat person, which might have made me not love the book as much as I could have, so yeah I was laughing so hard every time Miles called Prince Francis a hairless ballsack!

A Love Catastrophe is an entertaining rom-com that also deals with some serious issues (dementia, grief...).

The book takes place in Toronto. And it has both the male and female 1st person POVs.

What I liked: a quirky fun cat sitter heroine! I liked the hockey aspects (he works as a data analyst for Toronto's NHL team). And I liked the chemistry between the leads.

This was a cute quick read! Although there were definitely some difficult subjects that were harder to read. But that was balanced with some really funny stuff. The cat Prince Francis was so great. Overall it was an enjoyable book!

I swear Helena Hunting could write the back of a shampoo bottle and I would be hooked loving it! A Love Catastrophe was absolutely incredible!! Miles and Kitty are the most adorable characters! They are both wonderfully awkward and absolutely perfect for each other. If you read nothing else this year this is one you can’t miss. I couldn’t put it down it’s hilarious, heartbreaking, and spicy too hits all the emotions.

I love Helena Hunting. From the Pucked series to Meet Cute and everything in between, I love her sweet and I love her spicy. A Love Catastrophe was a cute read but wasn't my favorite by her. While not a cat person, it wasn't the cat storyline that bothered me, but more the cheesiness of the cat puns and such that came along with the cat storyline. I enjoyed that the story had a deeper storyline that aided in the development of a relationship between Kitty and Miles, beyond physical attraction. Overall, a light and cute story, just wasn’t my favorite Helena book.

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting is a sweet, swoon-worthy recipe of happiness, with a combination of the many of my favorites tropes, including a disastrous meet-cute, opposites who attract, sunshine meets the grump, and friends to lovers. The sunshine comes from the good-hearted, cat-loving heroine, who is a devoted animal whisperer. Kitty Hart is a quirky, sweet, and quirky web phenomenon with a cat-sitting business. Her path crosses with the grumpy, brooding, and stressed hero, Miles Thorn, a data analyst for an NHL team who needs someone to take care of his mother's menacing cat while she is in the hospital. He hires Kitty after doing his web search, getting impressed by her skills, even though he doesn't believe she can connect with his mother's evil incarnation cat, which needs urgent exorcism.

They both couldn't be more different: one is an optimist, a smiling cat lover, and the other is a sulking, pessimistic dog lover. Their chemistry is off the charts. They share their pasts and the burdens that hold them back from moving on with their lives. They are also dealing with triggering, sensitive subjects, including the loss of family members, grief, and cyber bullying. Overall this is a heartwarming, heartfelt love story, filled with feline (and some canine) hijinx that only added to the charm of the story. I highly recommend A Love Catastrophe to other readers.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Miles need to hire a cat-sitter for his mother's cat because his mother is going to be in the hospital for longer than they initially thought. Kitty is the Kitty Whisperer. She has a business of cat-sitting and training cats. But the first time that they meet is a disaster...
This is a grumpy sunshine romance that had me giggling a lot at first. I loved how flaky and quirky and light Kitty was. But then there was just more of the same... the cat puns got old really fast. And there are a lot of repetitions. And it's a bit too cheesy and awkward to my taste (bingo button? Really?). It could have been 100 pages shorter. And I didn't feel any tension between the two MCs. I did like that there was no third act break up and that it touches some difficult subjects, but this was not my favorite book by this author.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I am not really a cat person, but this author delivered her usual RomCom style with a quirky heroine and swoony hero. There were some laugh out loud moments and steamy scenes that kept the book fun and light. A great summer read!

This won't be my favorite Helena Hunting book, but it had enough fun moments in it to keep me going. Kitty is a bit of a klutz, but she is so wonderful with animals. She also was a very inciteful person when it came to talking to Miles about the hard things going on in his life. Since turnabout is fair play, Miles also had some awkwardly funny moments, but also helped Kitty deal with the loss in her life and the resulting mess.

The romance part of the book was my favorite. Miles and Kitty together had all the preciousness that the cat in the book was missing (what an attitude that cat had!). I loved them trying to deal with the animals around their love life.

In this book there are several triggers. It includes death, grief, dementia, bullying, guilt, and caring for a parent.

Thanks to Forever Pub and NetGalley for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

This book had such a cute story! It was sweet, funny, and heartwarming. The pace of the romance was perfect, it didn't keep the readers waiting too long and there were a lot of other events around the lives of the characters that kept me interested. This book is a love letter for animal lovers and how sometimes we misunderstand them, I'm not a cat person but the concepts apply to loving all animals.

The MCs were perfect for each other. They both had a lot going on in their personal and professional lives. Because they were both changing and growing in those areas, they were able to be there and support each other. Kitty, despite being quirky, is a dedicated daughter, sister, friend, and business woman. She is very kind and is always looking for the good in others. Miles is a supportive son, friend, and colleague. He is so protective and supportive of Kitty, it hurts.

One of my favorite things about this story is not only the build up of the romance but the fact that there wasn't a 3rd act break up. The tension in story we all expect at the end was created by a different circumstance and Miles saved the day, I loved it. If you're in a mood for a sweet romcom, I recommend this title!

This book was so great, so funny so quirky, kitty and miles are perfection, Miles needs a cat sitter, and he comes across kitty who is a cat whisperer by seeing her videos , by the way it’s so funny the way she was with these cats, especially Prince Francis he was so hilarious, quotes from this book that I highlighted had me literally rolling with laughter, this was a very good light hearted read from Helena. I love romcoms and she really nailed this one.

A Love Catastrophe is billed as an opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine romantic comedy, which ordinarily is right up my alley. However, the execution falls flat.

The story features a cat-loving, quirky heroine–perhaps a little too quirky to be believable–and a cat-hating hero. Miles is so rude in the beginning that I wondered why Kitty even keeps him as a client. The humor feels forced and quickly morphs into one long, sad therapy session between two people who have experienced great loss–not the romantic comedy I anticipated. Probably the biggest disappointment is the lack of chemistry between Kitty and Miles. The sex is awkward, and the dialog is stilted. I just couldn’t connect with the characters, and I wound up skimming the last quarter of the book.

I did enjoy the pets, but unfortunately they weren’t enough to carry the story. While A Love Catastrophe wasn’t for me, the book may appeal to cat lovers who don’t expect a great deal of comedy or romance.

A Love Catastrophe was a cute and entertaining book! Kitty and Miles are both great characters. I love how awkward they can be and how they say what's on their mind, even when they don't mean to. I really liked their relationship. They both helped each other through tough times and to see things in another light. The storyline was enjoyable and sucked me in right away! *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*

Kitty + Miles

Miles desperately needs a cat sitter for his hospitalized mom's devil cat.
Kitty is just the right person for the job. She's a famous local cat whisperer and she's about to meet dog-person Miles for a first meet and greet with his mom's cat.

Let the fun times begin....🤣

Adorable!

I am so not a cat person. But this was such a cute rom-com!
I didn't even mind all the cat scenes! LOL!
Kitty and Miles are so perfect for each other. Miles hates cats, but if you ignore that little fact they should just get married now. LOL!
Obviously it takes us a while to get to that happily ever after. But it is definitely worth it to read about their journey.
I just loved reading this.
Nothing much more to say. It was adorable and funny and crazy and a bit heartbreaking and sweet and full of cats (and a dog!) and hockey and family and problems. READ IT!

Arkkpfffeww - I think I still have cat hair in my throat from reading this though!

A LOVE CATASTROPHE was such an adorable + funny + sparky + sweet + cat-ty love story! I just loved reading it! Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Miles - he'll be sold out in no time!

As a fan of Helena's books and cats, I knew this book would be right up my alley. There is so much to love with the quirky characters, humor, and romance.

Kitty and Miles first connect when he needs help with his mom's cat while she is in the hospital and he is out of town. They have plenty of chemistry despite their awkwardness and somewhat different personalities. The angst is fairly minimal as they figure things out, and I thought they were well matched.

The cat puns and jokes were plentiful. I thought it was fun and similar to how people who are really all about something particular - like Kitty was with cats - can find success in business and social media.

This was an easy, fun read and everything I've come to expect from a Helena Hunting book
