Kitty Hart loves cats. She has a successful cat sitting and training business and she loves her life. The big problem is that Kitty is stuck in a rut and doesn't even realize it. Miles is a man that finally has his dream job. He should be on top of the world but his mother suddenly needs him to help her with a medical crisis and take care of her cat. So Miles hires Kitty to help him with the cat. They don't hit it off right away but end up getting to know each other because circumstances keep throwing them curveball after curveball. Can a man who hates cats fall in love with the Kitty Whisperer?

This is such a sweet story. I appreciate that the author didn't speed walk the characters into falling in love. The journey from friction, to lust, to love was sweet, lovely, and believable. Both Kitty and Miles had really nice growth curves. They both needed to make changes in their lives in order to find their way to each other. I love that the author showed Kitty at home with her family and how their lives change because Kitty is changing. It just felt complete. I like the side characters. I like the little subplots (there is an allergy that I particularly appreciated). It's just a well-rounded book that made me smile.

This is a contemporary romance set in Toranto. There is no cheating and there is a very happily ever after. I will read more from this author in the future.

Sweet, swoon-y rom-com! Love Helena Hunting!

An animal lover and a hockey player with a disastrous meet cute?! Yes.

I also love grumpy/sunshine tropes! This book with all its puns made for a fun lighthearted read perfect pool/beach read for me.

If you don’t like puns and lack of angsty 3rd act break up this isn’t for you :)

okay, friends…there are two words to describe this book (lots of) CATS and (lots of) CRINGE….

While I understand that our female mc was supposed to be quirky, it was a *little* much at times.

There was barely any romantic content in this one…which was VERY disappointing. I couldn’t even make a playlist or an aesthetic board. The interactions that we did get between Kitty & Miles - were OH SO CRINGY…i had a hard time believing that a 25 year old man needed instructions on how to unclasp a bra…

While the sex scenes were *mild* they were so awkward..the dirty talk was not hot and just very weird altogether

I did like that heavier topics were discussed (loss of a parent and also dementia) Dementia is a disease that is near and dear to my heart - and it was portrayed realistically which was very much appreciated.

While this book did have *cute* moments - it reallllllly lacked the romance and chemistry that I crave from a true romance novel.

This was my first Helena Hunting novel - and I am taking this one with a grain of salt because I have heard her backlist is really good (and spicy!)

I DNFed this one. This wasn't a bad book, it just wasn't the book for me. I do wish NetGalley would let us provide DNF feedback without giving the book a rating.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I adored quirky Kitty and that little stinker, Prince Francis. This book made me cry tears of laughter and tears of sadness and includes the best first hug ever! I loved how awkward Miles and Kitty were and their banter. They both knew what it was like to experience the loss of a close loved one and formed a deep emotional connection. I had a lot of fun watching them fall in love. This is an amazing book with well-written characters that you will not be able to put down once you start reading!

Cute, quick read, made even better with the addition of cats. The main couple were quirky and adorable, and it was a good read for a summer afternoon.

Thank you to the publisher for providing a review copy.

What a Cat-abulous story! This was a sweet, swoon-worthy, entertaining, funny, and emotional, opposites attract romantic comedy that had me laughing out loud, long into the night. These two characters just can’t catch a break as they continuously blow first impressions, and second impressions as their awkward selves perform terribly in front of the other. I have never been a cat lover but this story was one hilarious moment after another. This author definitely cat-tivated me from the beginning until the end with this one!

Miles Thorn is stuck with taking care of his mother’s naughty and mischievous Sphynx cat, Prince Francis or “the gremlin” as he likes to calls him, while his mother is hospitalized. Then add on her new diagnosis of dementia and the terrible memories that come to his mind just being in her house as well as the fact that he is strictly a dog person and…he needs help fast!

Kitty Hart the Cat Whisperer to the rescue. Owner of the Kitty Whisperer Cat Care and Training Services. She loves all things cats. And is quickly becoming a social media personality.

Home doesn’t have to be defined by a place, it’s where we find our strongest emotional bonds. It’s a shelter created from love. Can these two opposites find there HEA home together? You will need to read to find out.

Received an early copy and this is my honest review.

I went into this one with high hopes! I also buddy-read it with Julie, which I’m glad I did. I was really excited about the premise, but I didn’t connect with this one. It was just an okay read and it didn’t really blow me away.

I think my biggest issue was that I was expecting a light romance with a lot of cute and furry puns. What I ended up getting was a lot of heavier topics about dementia and family deaths. There’s nothing wrong with these heavier topics but I was hit with it and then the book got really heavy. I felt like the book was trying to do two different things and didn’t really connect them. The lighter and funnier things went away when we got to the heavy things. There were a couple of other moments in the book that felt forced and not needed. The pacing was another thing that I didn’t enjoy. It took about 20% of the book to get past their first “meet” and get going. The last part of the book was just rushed so quickly that I had trouble connecting.

The romance had a lot of cute and sweet moments. I just didn’t feel the chemistry, which could also have to do with the pacing. I did really like to watch Miles grow in their relationship but I had a hard time getting there. He has many issues and many of their miscues were kind of rude. He seemed way too hard on his mother but I think he ends up getting to a better place. By the end, I still had a hard time really feeling the relationship between him and Kitty.

Overall, this was just an okay read for me. I might not have been the right audience. I could also not be in the right mindset, since I was expecting something much lighter and fun. It just didn’t hit the mark and the romance fell flat for me. There are some fun supporting characters and some sweet moments. There just wasn’t enough substance to have me fall in love with this one!

Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for an e-arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was absolutely adorable! Once again, Helena Hunting’s amazing, perfect brand of humor had me laughing and smiling so hard. Kitty and Miles are just so cute together and the meet cute and everything following it just gave me all of the adorably awkward feel good vibes. This book gave me ALL the feels and had me completely consumed from beginning to end. I never wanted it to be over because Kitty and Miles had my heart and made it all mushy and I loved every moment of it. From the characters, to the storyline, to the adorable pets, there was truly just so much to love…and LOVE this story I did!

I absolutely adore Kitty, the kitty whisperer and Miles! They melted my heart and had me laughing out loud minutes later! It was absolutely an adorable, funny, sassy relationship from the start that you won’t want to miss! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy!

A Love Catastrophe
Rating: 3.5⭐️
Genre: Romance/ rom com

Thanks for @readforeverpub for the advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Calling all cat lovers - this cat centered contemporary romance follows Kitty, who runs a cat sitting and training business, and Miles, who pays for Kitty’s expertise for his mother’s cat. After a series of misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions leave them butting heads, the two quickly join forces and bond over shared struggles.

While plenty of laugh out loud moments, we see characters bond over shared experiences of grief from losing family members, as well as how quickly social media can turn on an influencer.

I most appreciated that the third act conflict didn’t fit the typical mode. Instead, it focused on the main characters trying to move forward and join forces as a couple to overcome an outside struggle.

A Love Catastrophe was a reminder of why I enjoy Helena Hunting’s writing. In her latest novel, Kitty the Kitty Whisperer–yes, Kitty knows how that sounds–is asked to be a cat sitter by Miles, an analyst for a hockey team. His mom is in the hospital and he needs someone to watch her cat while he is out of town. Despite their nearly instant attraction, their first meeting is a catastrophe. Bad first impressions slowly give way to understanding and sparks as they spend more time together.

Neither Kitty nor Miles is suave, often finding themselves without filters or the ability to stop talking, especially when they want to stop. Heh… I found this endearing about both of them. Their awkwardness made me like them even more. (I felt seen…hahaha) There are puns galore and wonderful pet moments. I was often smiling throughout the novel.

While it is a rom-com, it also deals with loss and learning to live and move forward. It was an unexpected dimension to the story, but it helped push Kitty and Miles’s connection beyond just physical attraction. The additional layer to the story made me like the book more than I already did.

I was looking forward to reading a new Helena Hunting, as it's been a bit since she's had a new book out. A Love Catastrophe was a cute rom com and I will say if you're a cat lover, you'll definitely enjoy this one!

Kitty is a well-known online influencer with a cat sitting business and Miles works as a data analyst for an NHL team. Miles calls Kitty when his mother ends up in the hospital and he isn't able to care for her cat and needs help. He ends up hiring Kitty given all of the great things he has seen about her and how well he thinks she can handle the difficult cat.

While Miles and Kitty didn't initially get off on the best foot with one another, they have chemistry in spades. They are both a bit insecure and quirky in their own ways, but that makes them that much more endearing both to one another and to the readers. As they begin to open up to one another, you can see how they are beginning to change and morph. They discuss mundane things, but they also discuss really difficult topics that propels their relationship forward.

Overall I really enjoyed this story and how genuine the connection was between Miles and Kitty. I will say, for someone who isn't a cat lover (I'm highly allergic), it was a bit over the top where all of the cat puns and such were concerned, but the story itself was solid and something I enjoyed.

I was going between super cringe to super cute throughout the entire book! After the two became friends (and then more) I really started to love it. I also loved the fact that there was NO third act breakup!

Another great read by Helena Hunting. This one will make you smile and laugh out loud with some awkward moments, swoon and give you all the feels. I loved the chemistry between Miles and Kitty. Prince Francis and Wilfred are cherries on top. Definitely worth the read.

There are so many reasons why I loved this book. There were cats, there was an early opposites attract thing going on, and I was completely unprepared for how realistic and well done the common theme of loss and grief and moving on was going to be throughout the book. Our quirky Kitty and her dog-loving love interest sure gave me a lot of feelings, but it was beautiful and I couldn't put this book down.

Right away, I knew I was going to love Kitty Hart. She was fun, owned her uniqueness, and deeply prioritized her family. Hunting did a fantastic job writing this character; Kitty's love for her feline clients was undeniable, and her inability to filter what came out of her mouth often brought a smile to my face. But Kitty wasn't without her faults, and I loved that Hunting really leaned into the eventual self-awareness that Kitty had when it came to her family, especially her mother.

I also truly adored Miles' storyline. I don't want to give too much of the emotional plot away, so I will suffice to say that everything Miles went through really hit home for me. Miles might be fictional, but the journey he had to go on was very much real. I felt for him, even when Kitty didn't like him at the beginning, simply because of the choices he had to make and how hard that would be for anyone.

Both Kitty and Miles mirrored each other so well. Normally, I wouldn't enjoy a romance where both main characters seemed so similar in terms of their emotions and where they're at in their careers, but both Kitty and Miles were hard not to enjoy.

Hunting gave us spice, career drama, and a whole lot of real talk on familial relationships. I couldn't put this one down, even when on-page topics brought up real-life emotions. This one is a fantastic read for cat and dog lovers alike.

Miles Thom has a new exciting job working as a data analyst for an NFL team, but he is being pulled away by the stress of his mother being in the hospital and dealing with her misbehaving cat. He only knows how to take care of his dog. So he calls Kitty Hart...The Kitty Whisperer.

Kitty is upbeat, quirky, awkward, clumsy, and unfiltered. She loves owning her own company and helping people with their cats, but she is a bit socially awkward and stuck in a rut.

He is grumpy, overwhelmed, and tends to say all the wrong things. These two have a not-so-meet cute which is both a bit embarrassing and antagonistic. Miles does not have a great attitude about the precocious cat and Kitty just wants to share her love with the misunderstood sweetheart. So they initially are wary of each other and butt heads.

But as they begin to spend more time together, Kitty begins to help him not just with the cat, but also helping him cope with some hard situations. As they begin to open up and bond over the pain and guilt from their tragic pasts, they begin to give each other understanding, acceptance, and healing.

It seems they meet the right person at the right time just when they need someone. There is not a lot of relationship angst, and the drama is mostly dealing with their own personal issues and external problems. But I loved how these two bonded and were there for each other when it counted. They are both somewhat awkward and put their foot in their mouths often, but their hearts are in the right place and they are kind of adorkable together.

This is a sweet, punny, sexy, shenanigan-filled, opposites-attract romance that also deals with underlying serious topics and family tragedies so it has some deeper emotions layered in. It is about embracing change and learning to let go in order to move on to a brighter future. The cat and dog are total scene stealers. I also liked her friend, Kat, and sister, Hattie, and his friends, Josh and Parker.

I usually love Helena Hunting's books, but this one did not click for me. Kitty is a walking cat pun and it was a bit of a turn off. I loved that there was no third act break up. Generally, this was a sweet and fun rom-com, but I could not get over all the cat puns.

Easy-going, Internet-famous cat whisperer, Kitty Hart, runs a successful cat-sitting business. When grumpy, dog-loving, anti-cat hockey team data analyst Miles needs Kitty's help with his mom's cat, will opposites attract?

A Love Catastrophe is a light-hearted (and definitely punny) romance with some depth. From their first meeting, Kitty and Miles have many funny, sweet, and awkward moments. I liked that this story addressed different reactions to grief and moving on after a loss. I gave bonus points for the lack of a third-act breakup, no unnecessary angst.

If you are a cat lover, like cheesy humor, and enjoy quirky characters, A Love Catastrophe is definitely for you!

DNF at 31%

I’ve loved many of Helena Hunting’s books in the past, but unfortunately her more recent releases haven’t been hitting the mark for me. It was jarring to go from discussing something serious like the death of a parent, grief, and early onset dementia to seemingly non stop cat puns and slapstick comedy. Both feel too extreme, leaving the story imbalanced. At 31% I don’t feel particularly invested in either character and have decided to put this one down.

CW’s I encountered: early onset dementia, grief, death of parent, severe allergic reaction requiring a brief hospitalization
