I absolutely adore Kitty, the kitty whisperer and Miles! They melted my heart and had me laughing out loud minutes later! It was absolutely an adorable, funny, sassy relationship from the start that you won’t want to miss! I am voluntarily leaving my honest review after reading this arc, but I loved it so much I purchased my own copy!

A Love Catastrophe
Rating: 3.5⭐️
Genre: Romance/ rom com
Thanks for @readforeverpub for the advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.
Calling all cat lovers - this cat centered contemporary romance follows Kitty, who runs a cat sitting and training business, and Miles, who pays for Kitty’s expertise for his mother’s cat. After a series of misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions leave them butting heads, the two quickly join forces and bond over shared struggles.
While plenty of laugh out loud moments, we see characters bond over shared experiences of grief from losing family members, as well as how quickly social media can turn on an influencer.
I most appreciated that the third act conflict didn’t fit the typical mode. Instead, it focused on the main characters trying to move forward and join forces as a couple to overcome an outside struggle.

A Love Catastrophe was a reminder of why I enjoy Helena Hunting’s writing. In her latest novel, Kitty the Kitty Whisperer–yes, Kitty knows how that sounds–is asked to be a cat sitter by Miles, an analyst for a hockey team. His mom is in the hospital and he needs someone to watch her cat while he is out of town. Despite their nearly instant attraction, their first meeting is a catastrophe. Bad first impressions slowly give way to understanding and sparks as they spend more time together.
Neither Kitty nor Miles is suave, often finding themselves without filters or the ability to stop talking, especially when they want to stop. Heh… I found this endearing about both of them. Their awkwardness made me like them even more. (I felt seen…hahaha) There are puns galore and wonderful pet moments. I was often smiling throughout the novel.
While it is a rom-com, it also deals with loss and learning to live and move forward. It was an unexpected dimension to the story, but it helped push Kitty and Miles’s connection beyond just physical attraction. The additional layer to the story made me like the book more than I already did.

I was looking forward to reading a new Helena Hunting, as it's been a bit since she's had a new book out. A Love Catastrophe was a cute rom com and I will say if you're a cat lover, you'll definitely enjoy this one!
Kitty is a well-known online influencer with a cat sitting business and Miles works as a data analyst for an NHL team. Miles calls Kitty when his mother ends up in the hospital and he isn't able to care for her cat and needs help. He ends up hiring Kitty given all of the great things he has seen about her and how well he thinks she can handle the difficult cat.
While Miles and Kitty didn't initially get off on the best foot with one another, they have chemistry in spades. They are both a bit insecure and quirky in their own ways, but that makes them that much more endearing both to one another and to the readers. As they begin to open up to one another, you can see how they are beginning to change and morph. They discuss mundane things, but they also discuss really difficult topics that propels their relationship forward.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and how genuine the connection was between Miles and Kitty. I will say, for someone who isn't a cat lover (I'm highly allergic), it was a bit over the top where all of the cat puns and such were concerned, but the story itself was solid and something I enjoyed.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

I was going between super cringe to super cute throughout the entire book! After the two became friends (and then more) I really started to love it. I also loved the fact that there was NO third act breakup!

Another great read by Helena Hunting. This one will make you smile and laugh out loud with some awkward moments, swoon and give you all the feels. I loved the chemistry between Miles and Kitty. Prince Francis and Wilfred are cherries on top. Definitely worth the read.

There are so many reasons why I loved this book. There were cats, there was an early opposites attract thing going on, and I was completely unprepared for how realistic and well done the common theme of loss and grief and moving on was going to be throughout the book. Our quirky Kitty and her dog-loving love interest sure gave me a lot of feelings, but it was beautiful and I couldn't put this book down.
Right away, I knew I was going to love Kitty Hart. She was fun, owned her uniqueness, and deeply prioritized her family. Hunting did a fantastic job writing this character; Kitty's love for her feline clients was undeniable, and her inability to filter what came out of her mouth often brought a smile to my face. But Kitty wasn't without her faults, and I loved that Hunting really leaned into the eventual self-awareness that Kitty had when it came to her family, especially her mother.
I also truly adored Miles' storyline. I don't want to give too much of the emotional plot away, so I will suffice to say that everything Miles went through really hit home for me. Miles might be fictional, but the journey he had to go on was very much real. I felt for him, even when Kitty didn't like him at the beginning, simply because of the choices he had to make and how hard that would be for anyone.
Both Kitty and Miles mirrored each other so well. Normally, I wouldn't enjoy a romance where both main characters seemed so similar in terms of their emotions and where they're at in their careers, but both Kitty and Miles were hard not to enjoy.
Hunting gave us spice, career drama, and a whole lot of real talk on familial relationships. I couldn't put this one down, even when on-page topics brought up real-life emotions. This one is a fantastic read for cat and dog lovers alike.

3.5/4 stars
Miles Thom has a new exciting job working as a data analyst for an NFL team, but he is being pulled away by the stress of his mother being in the hospital and dealing with her misbehaving cat. He only knows how to take care of his dog. So he calls Kitty Hart...The Kitty Whisperer.
Kitty is upbeat, quirky, awkward, clumsy, and unfiltered. She loves owning her own company and helping people with their cats, but she is a bit socially awkward and stuck in a rut.
He is grumpy, overwhelmed, and tends to say all the wrong things. These two have a not-so-meet cute which is both a bit embarrassing and antagonistic. Miles does not have a great attitude about the precocious cat and Kitty just wants to share her love with the misunderstood sweetheart. So they initially are wary of each other and butt heads.
But as they begin to spend more time together, Kitty begins to help him not just with the cat, but also helping him cope with some hard situations. As they begin to open up and bond over the pain and guilt from their tragic pasts, they begin to give each other understanding, acceptance, and healing.
It seems they meet the right person at the right time just when they need someone. There is not a lot of relationship angst, and the drama is mostly dealing with their own personal issues and external problems. But I loved how these two bonded and were there for each other when it counted. They are both somewhat awkward and put their foot in their mouths often, but their hearts are in the right place and they are kind of adorkable together.
This is a sweet, punny, sexy, shenanigan-filled, opposites-attract romance that also deals with underlying serious topics and family tragedies so it has some deeper emotions layered in. It is about embracing change and learning to let go in order to move on to a brighter future. The cat and dog are total scene stealers. I also liked her friend, Kat, and sister, Hattie, and his friends, Josh and Parker.

I usually love Helena Hunting's books, but this one did not click for me. Kitty is a walking cat pun and it was a bit of a turn off. I loved that there was no third act break up. Generally, this was a sweet and fun rom-com, but I could not get over all the cat puns.

Easy-going, Internet-famous cat whisperer, Kitty Hart, runs a successful cat-sitting business. When grumpy, dog-loving, anti-cat hockey team data analyst Miles needs Kitty's help with his mom's cat, will opposites attract?
A Love Catastrophe is a light-hearted (and definitely punny) romance with some depth. From their first meeting, Kitty and Miles have many funny, sweet, and awkward moments. I liked that this story addressed different reactions to grief and moving on after a loss. I gave bonus points for the lack of a third-act breakup, no unnecessary angst.
If you are a cat lover, like cheesy humor, and enjoy quirky characters, A Love Catastrophe is definitely for you!

I’ve loved many of Helena Hunting’s books in the past, but unfortunately her more recent releases haven’t been hitting the mark for me. It was jarring to go from discussing something serious like the death of a parent, grief, and early onset dementia to seemingly non stop cat puns and slapstick comedy. Both feel too extreme, leaving the story imbalanced. At 31% I don’t feel particularly invested in either character and have decided to put this one down.
CW’s I encountered: early onset dementia, grief, death of parent, severe allergic reaction requiring a brief hospitalization

Sometimes you just need a lighthearted book and A Love Catastrophe was just that. There are cat puns, slapstick clumsy moments; starting with a funny meet-cute, and the budding feelings between Kitty the Cat Whisperer (cat trainer & cat-sitter) and Miles, a NHL data analyst (which is such a unique career!), it all added up to such an adorable story.
I will, however, say that there are some heavy topics that are involved. A parent with early on-set dementia and deaths of a parent and a sibling were the unlying history that connected Kitty and Miles. And so, these heavy topics did compete with the humour and romance of the book, but it didn't detract me from enjoying the story.
If the topics included in the content warnings don’t affect you, this is a fun romcom book that cat lovers especially, will really enjoy.

I enjoyed this book so much. For the most part this book is very upbeat, but there are a few sad moments with the MC's family's (TW: dementia, death of a parent).
Kitty is so down to earth and willing to help everyone in need. Her business is cat sitting, and while it's not conventional, she's an expert at it. Her clients are usually older and when Miles calls her one day to help with his mom's cat, Kitty could never have expected what would come.
Their relationship builds from acquaintances, to friends, to more over time. I really enjoyed the progression. It wasn't immediate and they built a foundation for them to grow from. Some hijinks ensue with her social media, including an appearance with a young hockey player (she cat sits for his great grandfather and he's on the team Miles works for), a run in at the park, and the subsequent interview with a celebrity.
Both Kitty and Miles have unique relationships with their parents. The exploration of these, while sad at times are also very real and it was lovely reading about them.
I definitely recommend this book.

A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting is her new romcom and this is Kitty and Miles‘ story.
Kitty loves cats and she made a business out of it and works as a cat sitter. I absolutely loved her dedication to animals and especially cats. She is such a loving and kind woman who rather spends time with animals and people. She also loves romance books, and I could totally relate to her.
Miles works as an analyst for an ice hockey team, and he is very much a dog person also because he is allergic to cats. His mother owns a sphinx cat and when her health declines, Miles not only has to care for her, but also her cat. And therefore, he employs Kitty.
This is just such a cute romance and I loved how it very much revolves around animals. It’s definitely a slow burn story and because of that you get to meet Miles and Kitty and learn more about their families. That created a lot of depth, and I just enjoyed this romance so much.
Overall, this is a romance that is perfect for any animal lover out there. 4 stars.

A Love Catastrophe was definitely funny, in a way that only Helena Hunting can do. The story is chock full of cat puns and weirdly useful information about cats as well. Miles and Kitty shouldn't work in the way that dog people and cat people shouldn't work but strangely, you can absolutely see how this could happen. Both have their own deeply personal issues and losses but both seem to help pull each other through the events that have shaped their lives. I had plenty of laugh out loud moments and enjoyed the story and all of the characters.

I loved A Love Catastrophe! It was cute and it was a fun & quirky read. It’s a great opposites attract between cat loving cat sitter Kitty “the Kitty Whisperer” Hart and dog loving cat hater Miles Thorn.
Miles’ mum is sick and she has a Sphynx (ie hairless cat) with a big personality called Prince Francis that Miles needs serious help with. And that sees him contacting the Kitty Whisperer for her professional services. Kitty is literally the most cheerful person imaginable and yet Kitty finds herself physically attracted to someone she strongly dislikes. Miles on the other hand likes Kitty but he’s notoriously not smooth with the ladies, hates Prince Francis with a passion that really irritates Kitty, and somehow manages to keep irritating Kitty without trying. Even under those circumstances love blossoms. The real question is does a cat lover and a cat hating dog lover have a future together? There’s just so much to love about this book!
I especially love this author and my favourites have been her hockey series, so I love how one of the main characters Miles is a total hockey nerd, works for a hockey team etc. That for me was a great tie in.

I don’t know what it is but there’s something about Helena’s illustrated cover books that aren’t my vibe. This was incredibly hard to get into and the writing felt painful at times to read

This is a cute book, with a easy-going story and good emotions. Miles had my heart immediately with his quirks, I've connected with him instantaneously; Kitty was something less instantaneous, she grew on me throughout the chapters and in the end both of them were in my heart. If you enjoy cute romantic comedies with heated desire, this book is for you!

**Thank you to Helena Hunting, Forever Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to receive an ARC of A Love Catastrophe in exchange for an honest review!!** This book was so fun! It is really a compliment to Helena Hunting that she was able to pull me in. I am definitely not a cat person but I really grew to love them while reading this book. (Not as much as Kitty loves cats though, I am not that obsessed!) I am all for a grumpy/sunshine trope and this book had the best of them! I enjoyed how awkward Miles was around Kitty when they first met. I also loved how they were able to grow closer together through their shared experiences. I will admit there are definitely some heavy experiences and moments in this book so please be prepared before you start it. I loved seeing Kitty reach towards her potential more throughout this book. I found both Kitty and Miles to be pretty relatable but I fear I am more of a Miles than a Kitty. I loved this book and look forward to reading more books by Helena Hunting!

I am pretty sure I failed to read the synopsis of this book before I downloaded it. Surprisingly I enjoyed the antics of the cats featured in the story as well as the humans. Miles needed a cat sitter for his mom's sphynx cat, Prince Francis. Contacting Kitty Hart, the Kitty Whisperer, was done out of desperation. Little did he know that he would be attracted to an all out cat lover. Kitty built her business out of love for cats. Meeting Miles the dog lover didn't bode well. As Kitty began to care for Miles, they forged a friendship that was built on trust. They revealed things about themselves that no other human was privy to. Their stories were vastly similar dealing with grief and being stuck in the past unable to move forward. They gave each other strength and support, and showed one another how to love and move on without feeling guilty. Their relationship also gave their respective families the courage to move on.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
